One thing I love trump is his attitude of saying things blatantly as it is without any form of trying to mince words or diplomacy. The only Nigeria politician that comes close to him in this attitude is wike. I love people like this because they'd make you see reality as it is instead of using some diplomatic words to gaslight and make you question your own intelligence

kodded:How come Boko Haram are still attacking our soldiers, seeing that they have weapons too? You have a future, family, assets, etc. A bandit has nothing; No degree, family, or even any space in our society But you think if you show him a gun, he will think twice? |

kodded:Exactly, it's actually the solution to this long lasting insecurity. How will bandits stop a 21 seater bus with 15 weapons inside to kidnap them? E go turn shooting competition na. |

Ihebu4chelsea:Thank you. So if I am driving with my gun, and a group of 6 men ambush me with guns, who has the numerical advantage? Bear in mind that even if guns are legalized, a large number of our population cannot afford to own one. |

Ihebu4chelsea:Just Dey play ! You think bandits wave buses to stop before they start shooting ? Whether una get 15 or 100 weapons inside the 21 seater bus, once the bandits start spraying u guys from afar the chances of u guys retaliating or fighting back is almost zero ! No shooting competition will happen . These bandits/terrorists Dey go sack a whole military camp that has armory and large amount of trained soldiers and dem Dey overrun the military guys . You think civilians with guns will be able to stop them if they set their mind on robbing or kidnapping the civilians ? The legalization of gun won’t solve anything at all . It will only encourage more people to embrace crime because people will say gun crimes as the only way out of poverty . Do you know what it means that 139 million people in Nigeria are living below poverty line ? What do u think majority of those 139 million people will do if they have access to guns? Do u think they will only protect their lives that’s not worth much or they would use it to make the lives of others that seem to be doing well hell ? |

So becos Tinubu our commander in chief is too lilly livered to declare outrightly that Fulani herdsmen are banned from carrying firearms especially AR's then we should arm the whole country, like guns in Nigeria? You people are not serious. Enforce the damn law, it is illegal to bear arms, IPOB didnt outrightly bear arms nor did they commit this level of atrocities so why have we not banned or proscribe Fulani herdsmen if not due to political considerations? Obj doing 6th term is way better than the clowns we got after, nobody should disrepect Obj by comparing with Tinubu, atleast we know what Obj would do. Solution is simple, since these lots have started using herding as cover to stay in forest to carry out evil, ban open grazing, we have genuine herders but should we even in 2026 be discussing herders moreoso when its been used to exploit weaknesses in our nations security? The only reason why Tinubu would not ban open grazing & movement of cattle via the forest is political considerations 2027 elections. |

FACT CHECK: Did Oyo school abductors really demand Sharia law? * Tracing the origin of a viral claim linking bandits' demands to Sharia By Rasheed Abubakar, Publisher, Muslim News Nigeria The Nigerian social media space has been awash with claims that the bandits (terrorists) who abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State demanded the implementation of Shari'ah law as one of the conditions for the release of their victims. The claim quickly generated widespread controversy, not only because of the gravity of the abduction itself, but also because it emerged at a time when discussions around the establishment of Sharia Courts of Appeal in parts of Southwest Nigeria have become increasingly prominent. For years, Muslim groups and organisations in the region have advocated for the implementation of Sharia Courts of Appeal in accordance with provisions of the Nigerian Constitution, arguing that Muslims in the Southwest deserve the same constitutional rights already enjoyed by their counterparts in several northern states. Against this backdrop, reports suggesting that bandits (terrorists) demanded Sharia law immediately attracted public attention and fueled heated debates. The controversy was further amplified by a longstanding narrative that seeks to associate banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism with Islam despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of victims of such crimes, including Muslims themselves, have suffered at the hands of these criminal groups. Bandits (terrorists) have attacked Muslim communities, kidnapped Muslim scholars, abducted Muslim schoolchildren, and killed countless Muslims across the country. Yet the islamophobes frequently describe them as representatives of Islam even when their actions directly contradict core Islamic teachings on justice, protection of innocent lives, and respect for human dignity. As a result, many observers viewed the alleged demand for Sharia law as another attempt to link the activities of criminal gangs to Islam, the religion of peace ordained by Allah for mankind. The claim was widely condemned across religious and political divides. Notably, the Oyo Muslim community under the leadership of Alhaji Kunle Sanni on Friday, June 5, quickly distanced itself from the alleged demand, insisting that terrorists do not represent Islam and have no authority to speak on behalf of Muslims or Islamic law. However, one crucial question remains: *Did the abductors actually demand the implementation of Sharia law?* The origin of the claim: Muslim News Nigeria reviewed reports published by mainstream media organisations, online news platforms, social media discussions, and publicly available video recordings relating to the incident, starting from Thursday, June 4. A clear pattern emerged. Virtually all reports claiming that the abductors demanded Sharia law attributed the information, directly or indirectly, to remarks allegedly made by the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, during a legislative plenary. Several reports stated that the kidnappers demanded a huge ransom, some quoting ₦1 billion, as well as the implementation of Shari’ah law in Oyo State, among other conditions. However, many of those reports relied on phrases such as "sources said", "it was gathered", "reports say", or summaries attributed to the Speaker rather than direct quotations. The next logical step was to verify exactly what the Speaker said. *What did the Speaker say?* The one minute, three seconds video recording of the plenary session in which Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin addressed the matter remains publicly available online. The video opens with the Speaker saying: _“… Everything that is necessary for them to bring these children and their teachers back. If it’s up to you, will you negotiate with terrorists? If terrorists asked for weapons, money and concessions of future laws of this land as part of their ransom, if you’re the governor, would you accept those ransom? Would you accept those people to be integrated into that community? We don’t know the details. So, please, let’s be sensitive. The more you negotiate with these people, the more you will be emboldening them.”_ Muslim News Nigeria carefully reviewed the recording. In the available video, the Speaker did not specifically mention Sharia law. Instead, he referred to demands allegedly made by the abductors, including money, weapons, and what he described as: "Concessions of future laws of this land." That phrase appears in the Speaker's publicly available remarks. At no point in the video reviewed by Muslim News Nigeria did the Speaker expressly state that the abductors demanded the implementation of Sharia law. As of the time of this report on Saturday June 6, Muslim News Nigeria has not found any publicly available video, transcript, or official statement in which the Speaker directly used the words "Sharia law" while discussing the kidnappers' demands. This raises an important question: *How did "concessions of future laws" become widely reported as "implementation of Sharia law"?* Understanding "concessions of future laws" The phrase "concessions of future laws" is unusual and not a recognised legal term in Nigerian constitutional or legislative practice. In plain language, it could mean: "Demands that government change existing laws," "Demands for new laws to be enacted in the future", "Requests for legal or political concessions through legislation" or "Pressure to repeal certain laws" or " Pressure to introduce new legal frameworks", among others. A concession generally means granting or yielding to a demand. Therefore, "concessions of future laws" could theoretically refer to several legislative or policy changes. However, the phrase does not automatically translate to Sharia law. Without further clarification from the Speaker, security agencies, or official government documents, it would be inaccurate to conclude that "concessions of future laws" specifically meant the implementation of Sharia law. This distinction is crucial because journalism requires that conclusions be supported by evidence rather than assumptions. *What the evidence shows:* Based on available evidence reviewed by Muslim News Nigeria: * The Speaker publicly referred to demands involving money, weapons, and "concessions of future laws." * Muslim News Nigeria has not found a publicly available recording in which the Speaker explicitly mentioned Sharia law. * Media reports linking the demands to Sharia law appear to be based on interpretations, secondary reports, or unattributed claims rather than a publicly available direct quotation. * No official security agency statement reviewed by Muslim News Nigeria expressly confirms that Sharia law formed part of the abductors' demands. *Why accuracy matters* Words matter. Claims linking terrorism and criminality to religious beliefs often have long lasting consequences. Once such narratives enter public discourse, they can persist for years even when the original evidence is weak, incomplete, or inaccurate. If left uncorrected, future discussions may cite this incident as proof that bandits once demanded the implementation of Sharia law in Southwest Nigeria even if no verifiable evidence ultimately supports that conclusion. For Muslim groups advocating constitutional recognition of Sharia Courts of Appeal, such narratives risk creating unnecessary suspicion around legitimate legal and constitutional conversations. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, misinformation can become a stumbling block to informed public discourse. That is why clarity from public officials is essential. Given the widespread circulation of reports, it may be helpful for the Speaker or any relevant security or government agency to provide further clarification on the exact nature of the alleged demands communicated by the abductors. Such clarification would help separate verified facts from assumptions, prevent further misinterpretation, and ensure that public debate is guided by evidence rather than speculation. In matters as sensitive as religion, security, and public policy, accuracy is not merely desirable. It is a public responsibility. *The bigger conversation* Questions surrounding media framing, religion, security, and public perception have become increasingly important in an era of misinformation and viral narratives. It is against this backdrop that Muslim News Nigeria has chosen the theme of media framing and faith representation as part of discussions at its 7th Anniversary Lecture. The lecture will examine how religions, particularly Islam, are portrayed in the context of global crises, conflict, insecurity, and public discourse. The event holds on Sunday, June 14, 2026. iamoyindamola:Kid yourself not a three or four horse race favors the incumbent, Tinubu will win SW, NC, some states in NW and NE get his 25% in SS/SE the margin may be slim but his numbers will be enough for him to scale through. The only thing that may stop him from winning is if one or two candidates dropped out of the race making a two-horse race then the opposition will have their way. |

Olowunl01:Thank you sir for hitting the nail on the head ! If I say this , Egbon Dayo will say it’s because I support Obi and will turn it to “Obi cannot do better than Tinubu “ argument . All these Fulani bearing arms and wreaking havoc didn’t happen at this large scale until a Buhari became president of this country . At the height of the attacks Tinubu was defending the Fulanis by buying into the narrative that herdsmen don’t bear arms , hence the famous “ where are the cows “ statement he made after the unfortunate murder of Pa Fasoranti’s daughter by those killer Fulani herdsmen. At least now that Tinubu has full executive power , let him give a strong and firm shout at sight order for any Fulani herdsmen or ordinary Fulani man caught bearing AK-47! Let him do away with all those political patronage caution he’s taking and do things in the best interest of this country . People’s lives matter more than politics . They don’t need to legalize arms to enforce the law and solve this Fulani terrorist matters |

patrickmuf:You don't know 80k monthly is life saving to some people? You underestimate the level of extreme poverty in Nigeria. Some people have never received 300k at once in their life and they're in their 40s. I don't even want to talk about a million. If you give some people 50k monthly jobs they'll thank you like you saved them from some cold blooded executor. You and I agree the pay of the NA is shit but the people applying don't see it like that. They're failures that have no other option. End of story. |

Amoto94:What does this even mean ? What sort of gaslighting is this ? Just few days ago the perpetrators of the Owo church massacre were sentenced and the DSS counsel was on TV talking about the motivation behind the terrorists’ actions 4 years ago , guess what he said ? The terrorists carried out the attacks because they believe the catholic priest blasphemed prophet Muhammad . Let’s not forget the convicted terrorists are members of Alshabab , an Islamic extremist organization . So , why is the author trying to gaslight us that “islamophobes frequently describe them as representatives of Islam ….. “?. Is it Islamophobes that call these guys Muslims or they are the ones who identify as such ? Make una calm down with this gaslighting o. It’s understandable if you say “despite the terrorists claiming to be Muslims , they do not represent the ideals of Islam “…. But trying to gaslight people as if it’s because they hate Islam they label terrorists as Muslims , that one no go work at all ! |

BlueRayDick:Egbon Dayo just dey whine us, Bros is too brilliant to be proposing arming Nigerians as a solution, The US have crazy gun crime rates even though their poorest 10% if we discount addicts have better quality of life than 90% of Nigerians, can't even imagine guns legalized in Naija, dead bodi go too surplus? Maybe if Dayo needs to spend 1month in Mushin or Oshodi or Ikrorodu to observe the way which the average Nigerians treat each other he would never make such proposal, all those high brow areas of Lagos easily clouds one's judgement of the reality of life in Lagos. |

I thought this was fake until I checked it myself. 1 US dollar is equal to 1 million Iranian rial. Iran is finished. I can't imagine how expensive things are in Iran right now. The only way they won't feel this is if they're 100% self sufficient and produce everything they use.
