The government need to prove to us by their actions that they are not the one sponsoring the bandits and terrorists.

He should go and join the terrorists then, let's see if governments won't have gadgets to track him.

dumb logic as usual. We all know how inefficient this fellow is.
Tracing ip address is different from tracking kidnappers. An irresponsible person in a house in Abuja with a phone is a sitting duck, compared to an irresponsible person with guns, a group of other irresponsible people, human shields and constant movement across states in the wild.
commonsense

#Lesson- Don’t be an irresponsible low hanging fruit, you'd be picked.
How then did Isreal targeted and eliminated high profiled hamas and co terrorists all over the world.

You are just without brain matter as tinubu.

It’s sad that people have equated bandits with critics.

Bandits know how to cover trails, but critics are known openly.

By the way only purveyors of fake news are arrested

The same way Nigeria has targeted and eliminated. It didn't take hours, right?

A reason I don't even take this government and anybody trying to defend them that serious again, there's always glaring loopholes to explore when you start debating some of them, the government just destroy the premise of every sane argument whenever you try to defend them.

Don't mind them. Under 24hrs, they discovered Elrufai tapped their telephone conversation but when it comes to rescuing the poor masses, some of whom voted them in the 2023 elections, they begin to drag their feet. Wicked souls

But these politicians only speak out when they are not in power or when they feel threatened by the problems they created or failed to solve while in power!
Then, you don't know Dalung. It was because of his stand on the part of the truth he was removed. He was a minister under buhari.
Re: You Have Gadgets To Track Your Critics, But Not Terrorists – Dalung Blasts FG by Iyeku: 10:54am On Jun 06
Dalung is a useless man . Were you not part of them before?

Godfullsam:
The same dalung that was whining and dining with APC when he was a minister.

When He was part of this government in the last administration he could say anything.
Your last paragraph shows you don't know him. He was removed for speaking the truth. While in the apc and as minister, he never agreed with the apc administration on some pertinent issues

I wrote this and others are already contributing too on the thread.
What Practical Steps Should Southwest States Take Against Banditry and Terrorism?
https://www.nairaland.com/8685199/what-practical-steps-should-southwest

Please, make your suggestion also on that thread. An authorised person may be reading this too and your contributions will be of help

For me

1. Establish a Comprehensive Resident Identity System

The Each State Government should develop a comprehensive resident identity and address verification system to improve security, planning, and service delivery. Every resident should be encouraged to register through a centralized database linked to verified residential addresses. This system will assist law enforcement agencies in identifying criminal elements, tracking suspicious activities, and improving emergency response capabilities while respecting constitutional rights and privacy protections.

2. Registration and Regulation of Herders

All herders operating within Each State should be required to register with the State Government and the relevant Local Government Authorities before engaging in grazing or livestock activities. Registration should include biometric identification, location of operation, livestock records, and compliance with state regulations. This measure will promote accountability, reduce farmer-herder conflicts, and help security agencies identify unauthorized or suspicious activities.

3. Monitoring and Prevention of Violent Extremism

The government should strengthen collaboration between security agencies, community leaders, and religious organizations to identify and prevent violent extremism. Authorities should monitor and investigate individuals or organizations suspected of supporting terrorism, radicalization, or violent activities, regardless of religious affiliation. Any person found to be promoting or financing terrorism should face prosecution in accordance with Nigerian law.

4. Promote Agricultural Self-Sufficiency

Each Southwest State should invest heavily in agriculture to enhance food security and create employment opportunities. Government support should include access to improved seedlings, mechanized farming, irrigation systems, agricultural training, storage facilities, and access to markets. Increased agricultural productivity will reduce economic vulnerabilities and strengthen rural communities.

5. Develop a Community and Neighbourhood Intelligence Network

A structured neighbourhood intelligence network should be established across communities in each state State. Residents, community leaders, traditional institutions, and security agencies should work together to identify emerging security threats and share relevant information. Such a system should operate within legal frameworks and emphasize the protection of citizens' rights.

6. Eliminate Illegal Settlements in Deep Forest Areas

The government should conduct a comprehensive survey of forest reserves and remote settlements. Unauthorized settlements established in deep forests, particularly those linked to criminal activities, should be dismantled through lawful procedures. Forest reserves should be regularly monitored and patrolled to prevent their use as safe havens for kidnappers, bandits, terrorists, and other criminal groups.

7. Swift Prosecution of Serious Crimes

The State Government should strengthen collaboration with the judiciary and security agencies to ensure the swift investigation and prosecution of kidnapping, terrorism, banditry, illegal arms trafficking, and organized crime. Fast-track procedures should be considered for cases involving serious threats to public safety while ensuring due process and fair trials.

8. Establish Formal Reporting Channels for Suspicious Activities

Multiple reporting channels should be created to enable citizens to report suspicious activities safely and confidentially. These channels may include dedicated hotlines, mobile applications, community liaison officers, and local security committees. Public awareness campaigns should educate citizens on how and when to report security concerns.

9. Promote Civic Education and Constitutional Values

Schools across each State should strengthen civic education programs that teach constitutional rights, responsibilities of citizenship, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and respect for the rule of law. Young people should be equipped with the knowledge and values necessary to contribute positively to society and resist extremist influences.

10. Prosecute Incitement to Violence

The government should adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward incitement to violence, hatred, terrorism, or public disorder. Individuals who promote violence through public speeches, religious gatherings, traditional institutions, political platforms, social media, or any other means should be investigated and prosecuted according to the law, regardless of their status or background.

11. Expand Vocational and Technical Education

Each State should significantly expand vocational and technical education opportunities to equip young people with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Training programs should focus on modern agriculture, information technology, construction, renewable energy, manufacturing, and other high-demand sectors. Empowering youth economically will reduce vulnerability to recruitment by criminal organizations and extremist groups.

This one too and the people applauding him would think they have sense. Politically blind people.

Who told you the terrorists are not tracked?

Do critics have abductees/captives in their camp for defense and negotiation with govt?

The idiot Dalung under Buhari did not raise that issue when the Buhari presidency was vibrantly clamping down on their critics and media houses. Now that he is not in power he suddenly found his voice

Yes, since the days of Jonathan and buhari who was almost overpowered twice on his way to daura by boko haram for killing their members. I know this is the accessories trump card. They'd claim sabotage but Nigerians ate wiser today. How can a leader( i need someone to pls define the word"leader"wink who was supposed to commiserate with the victims of boko haram in Plateau remain in the airport and spend only 10 minutes. Till now, he's not visited the already ravaged kwara...leader my foot. Tinubu and Lai mohamed who were behind the otogee protest staged to hijack kwara have abandoned kwarans to their ordeal.

Who removed him...?

He did his 4 years as minister and wasn't reappointed after cabinet reshuffling.

Because he was a shitty minister of sports.

Stop presenting him like a hero. He is no hero and is part of the government and problems. Plus he is also very incompetent!

[quote author=Image123 post=139630479]it is actually Dumb for you to say there is a difference between tracking a blogger and a kidnapper with a gun. The tracking is the same...the difference is only in the apprehending. Please think before you talk. The government has the necessary weapons it needs to take on those bandits in the forest even if they have human shields. Are you saying the Nigerian Armed forces lacks training and weapons?

Indeed. While his counterparts served 2 terms, he was stopped after serving his 1st. Even if anyone pretends not to know why he was sidelined, the Internet cant forget.

Those who didn't were engaged in another areas. Another man who was vocal was that oyo man and lawyer, who was the minister with a key portfolio. Apc doesn't like hearing the truth, which is why we're here today.
