There is a serious illiteracy issue in Nigeria, and it affects the way we see problems and the way we proffer solutions.

Many of the people being arrested by communities in Lagos, especially the ones in Ikorodu today, are not Fulanis or bandits as they have been tagged. In interrogation, you will hear most of them say they are from Sudan. The ones from Sudan are most likely not Fulani because the Fula ethnic group is not a major ethnic group in Sudan and South Sudan. We have the Dinka, Nuba, Arab Sudanese, etc., as some of the major ethnic groups there.

The ones from Chad may very well be Fulanis or even Hausas. These two tribes are many in Chad. You can even tell from their physical features.

Many of these men that are being arrested in Lagos, at the back of the recent surge in kidnappings in the southwest, may very well be just immigrants. One will not blame the locals much, because everyone’s nervous now.

However, if Nigeria had been a largely educated country, many of these problems would have been averted. Thankfully, the communities have shown, at the least, that they are civil and we haven’t heard of lynchings.
immigrants carrying Ak 47? why are we deceiving ourselves?

I don't know if we still have the immigrations in this country again self? Why are all our boarders so porous? .....but thorough investigation should be done though. Because these ones look innocent to me, except deadly weapons were found with them. They look to me like they want survival ☹️

They are mostly from the war ravaged south Sudan and they are Christians

Stop your foolish ignorance based stereotyping.
See you might be right or wrong but the fact remains that they FG should secure the border thoroughly. They can use forest guide for all I care but the most important thing is to provide the right equipments for insecurity. Not for Governors to be chopping security votes or even the FG herself isn't helping things out.

Some of these folks are escaping insecurity in their region.
Sudan is already a troubled region.
And you allow them into your country without knowing their history and current profile.

Ah! Nigeria is gun!

Una no want divide Nigeria into Oduduwa, Biafra, Arewa Sharia Republic, Middle belt country or countries, Niger delta Republic or countries. Una de wait until Islamists conquer all parts of Nigeria.
Is there any country in the world with TWO constitutions, except Nigeria.where one side took to Islamic sharia criminal justice system? The bandits are offshoots of Boko Haram all fighting to get Islamic Republic of Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal laws that include stoning blasphemous persons to death, stoning women to death for adultery, cutting off the hands of thieves, etc.

These guys don't look like bandits or terrorists.

Because one of them from Sudan had a photo of him with an AK doesn't mean he is a bandit or terrorist.

And these guys don't look like your typical Arab Sudanese .

They look more like south Sudanese with their Bantu features who are mainly Christian or Animists.

And in same war ravaged south Sudan, even herdsmen are armed with AKs.

As per transactions alerts , this doesn't prove anything as south Sudanese people have money due to oil and cattle herding.

They should check how they got to Nigeria as this is important.

I am sure they migrated through Cameroun and then through Taraba or Cross River border crossing.

If they came through the NE (Yola or Maiduguri) then that's a different ball game.
This here is the mentality that left our country vulnerable to invaders. According to you, South Sudanese are mostly Christians and Bantu people, as such, they're peace loving.... That right there is the mindset of the custom officer who allowed Nigeriens and non Nigerian fulanis because they speak his land and worship the same as him.

What happens to being professional on your job as a border guard, and subject everybody to the same scrutiny?.... Maybe Nigeria would have been safer today.

Did you read the story very well at all that one of them was loading Ak 47 in his profile picture? what further witnesses do you need again? Could they be repentant terrorists?

You made me go read again like I missed something. In this very write up, there is no where it says one posed with a rifle before.
This again is why I emphasized the importance of education, reading and traveling; even if one of them uploaded AK47 on is social page that doesn’t in anyway make him a bad person or a bandit. In Sudan like in America, they have loose culture with guns of every type. They carry it if they can afford it and use it at weddings and at important occasions

If you know how much it costs to transport from Borno or indeed any of the states bordering Chad or Niger to Lagos then you realise that none of these boys can afford it.
How then did they get to Lagos? You see them on trailers that have brought goods up north and are returning to Lagos. You also see them on the trucks of the biggest cement producer in Nigeria. His trucks are one key channel these guys use to move arms and fighters around the country. Is he aware? Who knows?
Na all of them fit afford it in the first place?

When trailer dey there.
