Most times, we tend to forget about these little items while focusing on big acquisitions like furniture, electronic gadgets, automobiles, clothings, fancy kitchen utensils etc, while neglecting these seemingly small important things that have proven to be very helpful to survival especially when you least expect.

It doesn't matter whether you are a single man or woman or a family, these items truly come in handy.

I am going to be listing some of these very important details that we often overlook.

1. Measuring Tape: this little item looks inconsequential until you buy a 6yrds fabric one day, only to get home to measure it and discover you have been robbed. 😄

2. A torchlight: This is a must have, and if you have a car, you must keep one in your car.

Car owners know the importance of this little property.

In the home, be sure to keep it within easy reach like the bedside where you can quickly grab it to flash Incase of an emergency.

Emergency, could even be an uninvited insect like a roach wanting to share your bed. 😄

Needle/thread and Plier are one of the most important

3: Adhesive: Very important!

How many times does some plastic ware or even chinaware come apart and a little old good adhesive would save the day!

Not having this little item in the house has led so many to dumping some valuable household item they cherished so much.

You feel bad about thrashing them but you can't use them again all the same. An adhesive or even super glue would bring back these cherished items back to live.

The children's toys like bicycles or cars are happy when we have a good old adhesive in the house!

The front mirror of you car can suddenly snap from the plastic base, a mechanic should not bill you for that, fix it!

4. Umbrella: Please stop disturbing your neighbor, buy your own, whether it's rainy season or not!

5. Tool box.
A tool box is one thing I strongly believe every household should have.
Many things we call artisans for are actually because we lack the tools.

5. Funnel: Yes, funnel! It's good to have this little item in the house. It comes in handy when you least expect it.

The other, I wanted to make moimoi, and because I was using nylon to bad it, pouring it into the nylon without the paste spilling all over was a challenge. I had to buy a funnel before the next expedition and it made my life easier. 😄

We buy oil in big cans sometimes, a funnel in the home makes transferring some into handy bottles alot easier.

If you own a car, you should have one in the car too, you never know when you could be filling your tank from a can.

6. Tool kit: The importance of this cannot be overstated!

You don't want to be asking your neighbors from house 1 to house 10 for who can lend you a hammer or screwdriver.

Even if you won't buy ikit with full options, buy some selected items and keep at home.

7. First Aid kit. This doesn't need any argument.

Even if don't want the whole kit, have some basic essential drugs in the house. Keep an eye on expiry dates too.

You should be able to handle that little runny stomach without calling a doctor.

Sometimes, you hang out and overdose on the medemede and your stomach starts to protest before you wake up from sleep, fix it!

8: Nail cutter: Have you ever experienced a broken nail that keeps poking at your flesh or keep hooking on your dress or your nail became overgrown and you needed to trim it?

Please don't use your teeth, use a nail cutter. Use it to clip the nails of your kids too if you have any to keep them clean always.

9. Sewing kit: You don't have to be a tailor to have one.

Quickly fix that button that just snapped. Quickly fix that hem that came apart.

Are your pants too long, hem them in by yourself with your needle and matching thread. Mend that torn boxers! Mend that tear-tear pant you love so much! Mend that curtain, mend that bedspread before the damage becomes too much.

Infact, there's a lot we can achieve by having this little kit in our possession.

If you won't buy the full kit, it still pays to have needles and thread for different colors handy and a pair of scissors.

10. Writing instrument: You will be shocked to find out how many people don't have pen and paper in the house.

Texting practically made so many forget about this valuable household item.

Except for people with kids of school age, most people don't have pens especially at home.

Next time you are in a supermarket, please buy some for the house. Buy these little papers with stickers too. Buy a pencil, buy a sharpener and eraser too, you never know.. 😄

What do mean?

11. A whistle: Yesso! A whistle is a must have. Especially in these perilous times. We are not allowed to own firearms, at least with a good strong whistle at home, we can alert the neighborhood when we see something or hear something to the extent the bad guys would be startled to abort their evil operations immediately and run for cover.

12. A machete: Very necessary for both domestic and security reasons.

You will need this in the kitchen one day to slice through a big tuber where regular kitchen knives fail, you should also be able to cut off the first hand that tries to unlock your window or door after smashing the door board or window glass.

You should also be ready to butcher the first person that rears his evil head into the house.

So, make sure to keep this tool is within easy reach at all times.

I actually I'm not a fan of gun license for Nigerians, the security agents just needs to be strengthened.

Can and wine opener is very essential. One may not know the usefulness until you have to open a bottle of corked wine. That's when everyone in the house would come and demonstrate the method they know.😄
