Market forces. The higher the demand, higher the price. Simple

If you want cheaper transport fare, get to the bus stop as early as 5:00am. It's cheaper.

Lagos state government needs to have a transportation law to address the unnecessary hiking of tfare...

Imagine, from CMS to Ajah was #2,500 and the roads were free
Even those going to Lekki on other days now pay 1,000 with those going to Ajah..

If you want take a boat from this end to Lekki, it's N4,5000

The government is not concerned because it has become their business ventures..

How much are people earning to be spending that much... This is why people sleep at their workplaces these days
Why not try brt is just 500naira

Good points you raised here. Find below some of the reasons for this.

1. It is Monday morning. Most meetings, appointments, new targets, etc are usually fixed for Monday mornings. So, more people on the road and more people on the roads means higher demands..So, the hikes

2. Agbweros/Police/Drivers/Conductors are coming from a weekend where they have spent a lot of money hence the need/urge to make more to plug that gap, so......

3. It is a Monday morning really and it means more activities.

It is not only on that axis, it is everywhere in Lagos.

Una go cry tire. Subsidy is gone. If your candidate comes in and didn't remove subsidy the way the present administration did then he failed from the day one.

About the transport fare. The Lagos Monday Morning Rush is just like the way every festive period rush. People pay high in Lagos because the transporters knows everybody is going somewhere.
How many months after PDP removed telecom subsidies and deregulated the market, before the price of services crashed huh

Why has Tinubu failed to deliver on his promise to crash petrol price three years ago?

Tinubu don talk say im aim na to reduce the purchasing power of the average Nigerian in order to widen the tax net. ......... That is exactly what he is doing.
When someone said he wanted to reduce your purchasing power and you voted for him. Now it has happened.

Now he is campaigning for another term and people are still rushing him.

But Why is The Lagos-State Governor So Silent About the Suffering going On in Lagos, not just Transportation to Lekki or Ajah, but in ALL LAGOS -Routes,with these Multiple Illegals- Collectors ,
- that have No Receipts,
-Nor the Common Purse Where Money being Collected goes and Indeed,
-the State govt -Cannot Pretend that All is Well with these illegals Collectors and Indiscriminate Transportation Increases going On , even On the BRT Buses.
• Please,come to Oshodi - Iyana Ipaja,
•Ikorodu - garage to- Lagos is Worse in High And Indiscriminate Transportation Increases and Costs.
This is Greed and Selfishness- from the Politicians and their Footsoldiers around Transportation - On the Roads and on the Water 💦 from!

All these actions are carried out by private businesses. In Lagos, no government bus or train or boat in increases cost because of Mondays. Our people usually prove themselves worse than the government and will do worse if they become government.
Don't mind them, they should all go to their respective states and blame their governors, tunubu increased and released their allocations.

We are reaching Peter Obi lessons.

It's been long I heard that statement o. Bandits, fuel prices, cost of food stuff and other cost of living don humble everybody.
Re: Why Unnecessarily Hike Transport Fare In Lagos On Mondays? by AKWATGOLD1(m): 9:18am On Jun 08
The hiking of transportation fares on Mondays has been there for decades because the drivers and conductors believes its rush hours (heavy traffic) high Tfare will compensates for when there is passengers between hours of 10:00am to 2:00pm.

I see people here saying demand and supply bullshyytt. Where i stay abroad you already know the price. N0nnsence
Re: Why Unnecessarily Hike Transport Fare In Lagos On Mondays? by Yampotatocarrot(m): 10:45am On Jun 08
Aside the economics of demand and supply, I notice there are now more ticketers on the road than before

NURTW seem to have created new set of chairmen to join the existing ones. These chairmen now send their boys to collect their daily revenue from transporters. The number of ticket that transporters pay for now is far more than before

Just yesterday, the Keke I boarded paid almost half of the tfare as ticket money... You go just see different people dey use marker dey write for your windshield, some na rubbish them go write... For every rubbish on your windshield, you drop nothing less than #100, when those with hardcopy ticket no come, you drop the main money

That's why those transporters that move in the early mornings, say between 4-5:30am always carry at a far cheaper rate, because they don't have to pay all these money
