Manir Dan-Iya Clinches ADC Governorship Ticket In Sokoto by Akpakomiza2(op): 6:03pm On Jun 07
Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mannir Dan Iya, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections in Sokoto State.

Dan-Iya emerged after the party conducted its governorship primary election involving delegates from the 244 wards across the 23 local government areas of the state.

The Chief Returning Officer of the exercise, Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela, said Dan-Iya polled 52,831 votes across the state.

“Consequently, I hereby declare you as the ADC candidate for the 2027 general elections,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, Dan-Iya thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and accepted the mandate given to him.

He pledged to work hard and expressed optimism that the ADC would defeat the ruling party in the forthcoming elections.

Dan-Iya also appreciated the support of party leaders in the state, especially former governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and called for unity among party members.

Speaking at the event, the party leader in the state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said the ADC was optimistic of victory, noting that ADC had given many youths opportunities to contest in the coming elections.

He urged members to remain patient and resilient, while stressing the need for free and fair elections across the country.

Dan-Iya served as deputy governor under Tambuwal’s administration between 2018 and 2023 and was recently chosen as the party’s consensus candidate among 10 aspirants who had earlier shown interest in the governorship race, including Senator representing Sokoto East, Ibrahim Lamido; former ambassador to Jordan, Faruk Malami Yabo; former Minister of Transportation, Yusuf Suleiman; and former PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, Saidu Umar.

He definitely knows he has no chance of winning and just setting up a political platform and structure towards 2031 when he will decamp to APC.

Okay. Good for him. I wish him the very best !

Well, for Adamawa, he has a good chance.
Not the best chance, but a good one.

Better than NDC I will say.

But if you are in Abuja, or anywhere in the South, don't waste your money on this party.
Go for NDC.
Even if you don't know how to spell Nigeria, on the wings of Peter Obi, you will win.
The same way it happened in the North with Buhari.

The jokes write themselves. The same NDC that Kwankwaso is threatening to leave?

Same with Buhari.

I would have said so about Tinubu, but he has no natural political clout.

But yes, on the wings of Buhari and Obi, even a cat will win in some areas.

By coming third right? Okay. It is this penchant for repeating the same thing and expecting a different result that has cost Obi his base, especially in the middlebelt. You overestimate people's willingness to follow you on a wild goose chase.

He has diehard loyallists,he's a world class politician, has allies everywhere, is very diplomatic, has structure, can negotiate and bargain. Having money is one thing, knowing how to deploy it is another. So many politicians have money yet they are failures. Apart from the obidient movement, obi is a political failure

Who is this one? You now decide for Sokoto people? What's the achievement of the current governor to warrant a return?

ADC are fielding strong candidates in North west and weak ones in north east.

"world-class politician indeed."

It's just like Robert Mugabe claiming the same because he totally controlled the country. Or Paul Barthélemy Biya of Cameroon, saying the same because he hand-picks every political office holder.

World-class is when you HAVE A MOVEMENT that others can say you may be a loser, but you succeed in building.
grin grin

Trump - MAGA
Farage - MBGA
Obi - Obedients

What about Tinubu?
Is it "R o n u miscreants?"

Having zombified and moblike movement is not world class politics but navigating victories from impossible situations. Can obi win primaries in any party? Can obi support multiple candidates to win, can obi install governors and even a president? Could obi have won the Apc ticket if he was faced by with hurdles tinubu faced? You clearly do not know politics hence your stance

If you ask if Obi can win primaries such as the one in APC,
The answer is NO!
He doesn't have the dollars to do that.

If you ask if Obi can win a primary that is conducted by the people,
The answer is YES, he has his mob.
That is politics.

Politics is a game of numbers.
Controlling the few with money has its limits.
Owning the loyalty of the majority is POLITICS.

But I know you won't understand.
Because to you, owning 35 governors is more important than owning ALL Nigerians.
That is why your TINUBU is never referred to as a world-class politician.
His politics dies when the current nature of politics practiced IN NIGERIA dies.

Tinubu is a world class politician that's why he has been in the game since 1990 with heavy success. Obi has the money and dollars but refusing to deploy it hypocritically is bad politics. Tinubu has his tentacles outside Nigeria. He has helped install presidents in Ghana, Guinea, has allies in France, UK, Us which obi can never have. How many allies does obi has? The only political advantage obi has is his movement which shows how limited and poor he is politically.
If Tinubu success is just based on money, he would have failed by now. It is beyond money. It encompasses so many things which obi lacks. Can obi form a party, build it, settle disputes? I know you love obi but he is politically below Tinubu

Ok, Sir, I am ok with anything that makes you happy.

But know this:
"Assumed allies" in France, the UK, the US, etc., can't vote for him. In fact, they have NEVER visited him since he assumed office.
Tinubu couldn't install himself as President since he started in politics, and had to ride on the popularity of Buhari to even get close to power, which is what you claim installed Presidents in other countries.
grin grin grin

You don't need to struggle to attribute Obasanjo's influence, nationally and internationally, to Tinubu if Tinubu has achieved half of what Obasanjo did or gathered half the clout Obasanjo did.

If Obi wins the Presidency, Donald Trump would not only be in Nigeria for his inauguration, but would not be in the front seat. More important people will be. Tinubu can't even draw to Nigeria, the president of Ghana, or South Africa, but installed them. grin grin grin grin
