This is a global problem. I've seen some Americans complaining about governors refusing to sign death warrants over there too , and I believe such action only serve to embolden killers. If you kill anybody you should also be killed, no two ways about it.

Excessive liberalism is causing many criminals and killers to be left alone instead of being brutally executed on life TV to serve as deterrent to other bastards.
You get, it's when u keep these terrorists alive for too long in prison that their fellow terrorists will start planning jail break or negotiating with government for hostage exchange.

If I am a governor, I won't hesitate to sign any terrorist or murderer's death warrnt o.

Talking about Wande Abimbola, in 1992 he won senate seat and was elected to a position in tge senate, swearing in time he was offered Bible or Koran na so senior man pulled out a cows horn licked it and started reciting incantations

The Northerners jumped back and screamed Awusubilahi. If looks could kill
Genuine question though, why don't we acknowledge traditional religious practices like Isese and others?

Is it because of it's duplicity? Like Blueraydick said, I have also met academic intellectuals and professionals who do not believe in Christianity nor Islam but actively practice a form of traditional religion.

I've never understood the logic behind it. I've always seen news of Governors demolishing houses of suspected criminals; I think Wike did something like that while he was governor, the Current Edo Governor demolished houses of Suspected Cultists, I think one or two governors in the east did something similar in the past.....I don't just get the whole idea sha.

It's not like dmolishing the house will deter anybody from committing crime in the future. To me, it's just unnecessary waste of resources demolishing such properties.

That's the only solution to solve this problem, Tinubu and APC are failures.

The problem is after bandits are defeated, it's gonna be scary Nigeria

It was common in the 90s. Usually in market and commercial areas you will see filmhouse. Because most people do not have VHS or videos at home just gather there

I think the challenge lies in the diversity of many gods. For example, in Yorubaland alone, there are worshippers of Ogun, Oya, Obatala, Ifa, Osanyin, Sango, and many others. An Ogun worshipper will not bow to Oya goddess, while a Sango worshipper may not observe the same forms of worship associated with Obatala.

And these are just a few examples from the Yoruba people lànd ooo, I haven't even touch on the traditional beliefs of the Igbo, Hausa, and other ethnic groups. So with such diversity, it would be extremely difficult to establish a single mode of worship unless everyone willingly agreed to one, which is likely not possible.

So more like a mini cinema right. The only thing I saw while growing up are those road side shops that sell dvd movie collections. It's only during the evening till they close at night they do play movies and people will stand outside watching.

I think a law was passed some years ago stating that any house used as a hideout for terrorists or kidnappers will be demolished, regardless of whether those involved were the landlord or tenants. But I'm not sure now whether it was a federal law or some states law.

Baba, I'd advice you take her to the hospital/ clinic for a chest Xray.

Ongoing cough with chest pain and possible breathing difficulties may portend more than just usual cough.

Traditional religions are the Windows 95 of belief systems, so clunky, superstitious, and completely unable to adapt to modern demands. Ancestor worship? Orisha cults? It’s all just voodoo economics promising salvation while delivering nothing but empty rituals and fiction. And don’t even get me started on how they’ve been hijacked by political elites to manipulate the masses. It’s like running a server on dial up painfully slow and prone to crashes .

Then you’ve got Christianity and Islam—enterprise grade religions with all the scalability issues of a monolithic Java app. Christianity’s got its prosperity gospel grifters turning faith into a marketing scheme while Islam got its Boko Haram offshoots running ddos on basic human decency.

Many of us have agreed that these traditional religion are inferior to the imported ones, So its not fashionable to be publicly seen doing Isese. Some people who codedly still visit Isese will not want to be seen ding it in public

Also lack of proper documentation has eroded many of the knowledge in these African Religion, so it just looks like the current day practitioners are making up shit as they go

And the more people make stuff up, the more it lacks authenticity, even if you look at the new generation Christianity, it looks more like content creation than the structured orthodox churches we grew up with. Over time it will water it down an look like a joke

So you rent house to people, you dont know what he is doing, later it ends up he hib victims there, So govt will demolish your house for that?

I guess it is about sending a message. Because when you read some stories it sounds like the whole community was aware the house was a kidnap house the same way you have crack houses in the US.

It’s a state law thing because I also know that Anambra has a similar law.

I feel monerozi point is quite straightforward and you all are just intentionally misunderstanding him. We know those people are intolerant and will do whatever when it comes to their religion. it is simply wise to respect local norms and regulations when you are in their midst. Most of you shouting secular nation in respect to the North are just making me laugh. Don't carry that mindset to the North if you value your life and wellbeing. As long as they are majority in that region nothing is going to change in that aspect.

Many many years ago I use to do typing for a police station. They'd come to where we work to beg one of us to go help them type and print stuff.

Police officers are stingy, when people render services to them they don't like to pay like normal people, so they get their own machines because of that and yet their own officers still won't do the work, they'll start looking for regular people to beg to help them.

I thought they've changed sha because this was like fifteen years back, but since you mentioned it does that mean they're still doing this?!

I always wondered why none of the police officers in the whole station could do the typing. Thinking about it now, I agree with you. The NPF is filled with illiterates, even the ones who claim to be educated still behave and think like illiterates, when I see some policemen I wonder why people like that are allowed in the force.

This is a serious security gap that probably wouldn't be allowed in serious countries btw. Because in the process of doing this I always saw confidential information and other stuff that are not supposed to be seen by outsiders, imagine I'm a snitch, I'll just go and sing the information to people who might need such info.

If indeed there's a law or state laws passed to this effect, then I make bold to say the law(s) makes absolutely no sense!

So they are saying if I build a house and decide to rent it out to tenants whom I did background check on and there was no reason for me not to rent out the building to them. If that tenant somehow gets involved in a crime like this Adelabu sister's kidnap incident, they will demolish my building ? In what world is that fair ?

I have seen situations where Landlords try not to rent house out to Yahoo boys , but the yahoo boys build a fake profile about having a legit job and the landlord has no choice but to rent the house out to them. Now imagine EFCC raiding those guys and EFCC suddenly deciding to demolish the house because they feel the landlord is complicit....It's just unfair.

That being said, I don't know if it's just me but this demolition of the building feels like getting rid of evidence . There are rumors that some party and campaign materials belonging to Adelabu's political opps were found in that house . Why demolish the building instead of allowing forensic investigation into the whole kidnap saga?

African traditional religion being synonymous with rituals, superstitious beliefs and being treated as a secret cult has made it difficult for people to identify with ATR in public over time.

I remember as far back as 14/15 years ago while in the university I had friends who were practicing ATR by worshipping Ogun, Eshu and the likes, but they still identify with either Islam or Christianity in public. Some of them even have masquerades belonging to their ancestral lineage which they even "carry" and celebrate with feast during its season. Because they don't want people to see them as ritualists, they end up identifying with either Christianity or Islam in public.

They are doing that because they know how terrible Nigerian legal/judicial system is.

The Landlord can actually sue with the case lasting at least 4 years in court. When the judge eventually pronounces judgment for the Landlord to be compensated to the tune of millions, the state government may still spend years and not pay the compensation/damages.

I remember the late Yoruba actor; Baba Suwe who was arrested by NDLEA on suspicion of drug trafficking at the airport. He was given laxative which was to make him stool the alleged drugs in his system after being detained for hours. Eventually he never stooled any drug and there was no evidence he was trafficking drugs.

He later sued the NDLEA for the embarrassment and defamation of Character. The case lasted years and he was eventually awarded about N1m by the court which is to be paid by NDLEA. Years after the case when the actor was deceased, it was discovered that he had not received the compensation before his death.

It means it is one thing to win a government agency in court and it is another thing for them to pay you as directed by the law court. Na why most people no dey bother sue government for this country.
