You don't know history. The Igbos were the most educated then, which made them thrive beyond the eastern region. From day one, the Fulani north were not comfortable with the Igbos. So at what point did the Igbos get into alliance with the North?

Most educated and still went ahead with the first coup. Still went ahead to kill the northern/southwest leaders and their wives

Mtcheew!

These people should learn for once to take full historical responsibility and stop playing the victim. Victimhood is a totally negative attitude which prevents social, psychological and mental healing! A secession from Nigeria was unwisely made on May 30, 1967 by Col. Ojukwu WITHOUT a referendum being conducted for the non-Ibos in the Old Eastern Region (which had been split into 3 new states out of the 12 new States created on May 27, 1967 by General Yakubu Gowon with the knowledge of the Rivers leaders of thought and ethnic minorities led by the Ijaw nationalist Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye from Bonny Island, the Ogoni activist Ken Saro-Wiwa and many more who had called for new States to be created in 1966 and it was fulfilled on May 27, 1967).

It was highly unwise for Ojukwu to have included the Ijaws, Ibibios, Annangs, Ejagbams, Efiks, Efuts, Kwas, and more in his illegal secession because these folks NEVER collectively asked to leave Nigeria and they had there long-standing fears of Ibo domination. This invasion of non-Ibo areas by Col. Ojukwu and his rebel forces is what triggered the war hence leading to many ethnic minorities joining the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Airforce to liberate their people and lands. Period.

I don't know how old you are. In case you are a teenager, just imagine what the government of Buhari and Tinubu, north/southwest, have turned Nigeria into in the past 11 years. Just imagine how Igbos are marginalized in these 11 years. Such didn't start today. For sure you can't keep such practice going from generation to generation and don't expect a revolution.

I'm not tribalistic, but historical discussions should be balanced. It's too easy to place all the blame on Gowon while ignoring the mistakes made by Biafran leaders and the realities of the war. The Eastern Region leadership chose secession despite several attempts at negotiation, and that decision contributed to a conflict that cost countless lives on all sides.

History is rarely a story of one side being completely right and the other completely wrong. Rather than blaming Gowon alone, there should also be honest reflection on the decisions made by Biafra's leadership and how those choices affected ordinary Nigerians, including the Igbo people themselves.
You mean same decision taken by the Elders in Borno and Kwara state today? Stop hypocrisy A man who boldly asked to stop the massacre of his people never committed any crime..same thing happening today in Nigeria and so many regions out of cowardice have refused to speak up for their people, only one strong man from same tribe did again,Omo Igbo people get mind,I no be be Igbo but I wish I was..

Both of them are to be blamed actually. Gowon threw away the Aburi accord because the British told him,if it is signed, the North will suffer for 600years. Remember it was the North that wanted to first leave in July 66 before the British told them not too. As they were already shouting "Araba"

Gowon already prepared a seccssion speech before he had to edit it away the following day.

Also Ojukwuc saw the war as an opportunity for him to grab the oil producing areas into his Biafra. If he never did, believe me,there might have been no war

The War wasn't a war of unity per say,It was a war of Oil
The British never told the north not to secede in 1958 the British were even almost leaving Nigeria then what is their buisness with which regions secedes? it was nnamdi Azikiwe that went to cajole and beg the northern political leaders because he thought he will be the president, many of his tribes men were the head of all federal parastals then and wanted that to complete the dominations of other tribes that was why he went behind awolowo to merge and form a coalition with the sadauna NNPC led party but it backfired!

Awolowo stopped his(azikiwe) overtly ambition to become the regional premier of the west because he failed to clinch the post in his NNDP party he thought he could usurp the AG/NNDP merged party in the west since then he became awolowo sworn enemy awolowo also wanted the west to secede at that time but azikiwe greed ambition made him deceive awolowo not to but when his plans failed guess who wanted to secede later? you people should stop flogging a dead horse and altake accountability for your actions almost all the western universities and northern universities top posts(VCs,VC admins, Registrars, bursars,Deans,Hod's) were occupied by the easterners.

My alma matar U.I VC then was Kenneth Dike an easterner same with his DVc admin, registrar, Bursar Unilag VC was Eni Njoku an easterner same with all other top posts there which you couldn't find in UNN,and Micheal okpara universities which were also federal institutions then.Yet they weren't okay with that and still were calling other regions tribalistic and unaccommodating still had to murder their leaders later.

if only aburi accord was followed, if only the killings of all igbo on the north was stopped by gowon,, ojukwu wouldn't have gone to the point if taking from asaba to orhe, resulting into the war
Nigeria?
Ojukwu Broke the Aburi accord

All the rest is propaganda

Gowon issued Decree 8 of 1967 to implement Aburi and Ojukwu rejected it

This is the letter that the US Govt Dept of State sent to their US Embassy in Nigeria after they had gone through Gowons decree 8.

They US Govt thought it was so good that they assumed that the Civil War had been avoided

They didn't know that Ojukwu had a different agenda and wanted to takeover all the Oil fields and Lands of the Niger Delta and even Lagos.

Oya which lie una go tell again since the US Govt had completely exposed all the Aburi lies?
