Why those who never pray seem to be winning at life and those who pray struggle?

Is it because.

God testing their faith.

Prayers not reliable.

Devil is the one giving victory.

Win what exactly?
Hope you're not talking about the good things of life because Jesus said God doesn't do partiality with it. Matthew 5:45

So concentrate on things God kept in stock for His true worshipers alone! Matthew 6:19-21

So, they should concentrate, in an abject poverty?

Those who praying should be servants to "unprayers" people.

Everyone on earth prays to one being or the other.
Prayer is making a request for something...
It could be short sentence or long sentences.

Everyone makes one request or the other

EXAMPLES:

[15]The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

@bold it's a short prayer and it was answered

#. Luke 23:42
[42]And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

All that I want it's in Jesus: He satisfies, joy He supplies.
Life would be worthless without Him...
All things in Jesus I find!!

#. Philippians 4:6-7
[6]Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
[7]And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

True peace is the victory of/in life!
And only God can give you such...it passeth all understanding ( it is beyond human intelligence!)

To be sure, there is great gain in godly devotion along with contentment. For we have brought nothing into the world, and neither can we carry anything out. So, having food and clothing, we will be content with these things. 1Timothy 6:6-8

What Jesus taught his disciples to pray for always is:

Give us today our bread for this day. Matthew 6:11

Because when it comes to worldly material possessions Satan is the one sharing such and it's mainly for those WORSHIPING him! Luke 4:5-7

That's why Jesus instructed his disciples to keep on praying for God's Kingdom to come {Matthew 6:10} since that is where all our desires will be met without any pain! Proverbs 10:22

If you mean to be rich or live successful life then, the are so many factors that may make a prayerful person not succeeding e.g laziness or idleness, lack of education or skills, disobedience to God's instructions etc.
