He shouldn't have destroyed it like this but Some landlord are just so cruel

Something needs to be done about how house rent are unreasonably increased in Nigeria

You are in for a legal battle .

Did you make any written agreement with the landlord before you renovated the building?

Do you have his consent and clause for financial settlement afterwards?

After all the this bragado destruction , you must put the structure back to the original status before you took the place.

In all you are the looser...you used your hands to destroy your labor and money will still be paid for the service

There can be no case in court if he restores the apartment to the initial condition before he rented it.
He has the right to remove all the improvements he did, but provided he has record or evidence to show the before and after.

Stressful though, I have done this bfor...The landlady gave me quit notice after fixing tiles cos tiles weren't there bfor...Just a year into the house and she gave me notice to quit ...I wasnt the type that is always at home and i was paying every dues bfor the due date...I removed every tiles o and I got some cuts from those broken tiles...We need to be paying evil with evil.

Apparently, nobody knows how to apply diplomacy and commonsense in a house that's not your father's property.

Always! Always! Enter an agreement with your landlord before making any renovation or upgrade to the property. The renovation that will increase the house worth should be used to offset the rent payment.

If you renovate of your own accord, you can actually be at fault of the law, for defacing the house without permission. In this case, the angry bird will spend extra money if the landlord mean am, to patch up the walls, ceilings and anything his "revenge mission" spoils.

And guess what, weereh don document evidence against himself for social media.

Landlords can be terrible, that's why you should deal with them with maturity and friendliness, so they'll find it hard to do you dirty.

I hope he will return the asbestos he removed from there. Because, you will not expect to remove the original ceiling, leave it empty and assume it's a revenge. You met something there and you must return it back.

Good you're removing your upgrade as a revenge but you also have to leave the ceiling the way you met it by restoring the asbestos.

I don't know what it is with people renovating another person's house without first making concrete agreement with the landlord about terms of engagements.

landlord cannot do anything, as long as he didn't pay for security deposit (caution fee) but if he did then the landlord can sue him

Some landlords are guilty of this.
They will look for excuses to evict tenants when they saw the tenants have put some facelift to the apartments they rented,so they will collect more money from the next prospective tenants.

This is very sad. Why not leave it since money the money spent would not come back, and remembering the transformation the Landlord/Son/friend or Relative maybe of help to him in future because nobody knows tomorrow.

Aside from painting and little patching some loop holes within the interior walls inside my apartment I don't think I can go any length repairing or fancy a rentage house

Tenants Should stop Making this Silly Mistakes ,If you wants to Rent an Apartment, If the State of the Apartment is not What you wants ,Call the Attention of the Landlord ,Tell Him you wants to Renovate the Apartment to your TASTE , Be Very Open to the Landlord incase of Materials Bought with Receipt.

Inform and Discuss with Him about What other Landlords Does that After Renovation,He is Not Going to Eject You upon Expiration of your Rents .

If he would do that ,He must Refund you at least 70% of the Cost back .
