The Founder and General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has firmly dismissed any possibility of his biological sons succeeding him as leader of the church, stressing that the ministry belongs to Jesus Christ and not to any individual or family.

Speaking on the issue of church succession, the respected cleric said he has no authority to transfer leadership of the church to his children because Deeper Life is not his personal possession.

According to Kumuyi, the church is God’s institution and should never be treated like a family inheritance.

“The reason why I will never hand over Deeper Life Church to any of my biological sons is because the church doesn’t belong to me. It’s Jesus’ church. Nobody has the right to hand it over to his son,” he said.

The veteran preacher also pointed to examples from the early Christian church, noting that prominent apostles did not pass leadership positions to their relatives.

“Peter did not hand over to his son, Apostle Paul had no son or wife, and John did not hand over the church to his sons,” Kumuyi added.

Doctors' sons later aspire to be doctors; lawyers' sons; engineers' sons...In fact, it's the joy of parents to see their sons succeed them. Jimmy Swaggert's sons succeeded him. I think he owes those boys some apology. I see no wisdom (I say this respectfully) in this declaration since it's ultimately going to be God's decision.

Even Jesus wanted His disciples to succeed him here on earth. In fact, God in the Old Testament specifically asked for the dedication of a particular tribe.

He's probably realised that you don't need your sons to mount the pulpit for them to be in charge or involved in the affairs of the church.

RCCG, Winners and other big boys in Christendom will borrow a leaf from this approach....

Others can do so but it will be very difficult in RCCG unless they wan break the church into 100,000 pieces.
And I think the children that are presently in the church administration do not even have the encompassing charisma to lead the church.

29. Now otem, we have done our own part, therefore go and do your part also. Be not lazy in the compilation and interpretation of the texts of histories which we have given to you.
30. And we shall breathe life into the history which you shall write and it shall live on in the minds of the people, rather than religious texts. And humanity shall begin to use their own brains, worshipping no god while they do good to themselves.

This should be the case with every church but for those who sees it a merchandize or transactional institution will never follow through this path... They rather hand it over to their children that are synonymous to serpent than those who will win souls to God.

RCCG is global church and not a family church. The church has been divided into continents each headed by a continental overseer. This is not the profile of a family church.

WF Kumuyi is a rare brand when it comes to true men of God.
