"Bandits sent me ₦100k as giveaway on TikTok, now they want ₦100m” - Young man cries out

A Nigerian man has cried out online after allegedly receiving ₦100,000 from individuals he claimed were bandits during a TikTok live session, only to later receive a demand for ₦100 million.

The man, identified as Odumayo Olufemi, made the allegation in a video circulating on social media, where he narrated how what appeared to be a harmless online giveaway turned into a disturbing experience.

How the Incident Happened
According to him, he joined a TikTok live session on June 6 after the hosts promised to send money to users who followed their page.

He said many TikTok users initially assumed it was a joke and joined the session without suspicion.

“I have come to confess I came across some bandits during a live session yesterday, 6th June. During the live session they promised anyone who follows their page money and I followed the page. We thought it was a joke,” he said.

He added that other viewers in the live session also reportedly got similar payments.

However, he said the situation changed shortly after the money was received.

“They Are Demanding N100 Million”
According to him, he later received a message demanding N100 million from him.

“As soon as I received the money I got an email. Nigerians, please come to my rescue. They are demanding ₦100,000,000 from me,” he said.

“Please come to my rescue. I also received money. I was amongst the people who joined the live session. They gave me N100,000 and are now demanding ₦100,000,000.”

The security agencies in my opinion should trace and arrest both those following those pages and those that collected giveaways from them for aiding and abating terrorism.
