A circular has been passed by the Edo State Government to shut down schools in Edo North Senatorial District of the state, over terrorist attacks, as advised by the DSS.

This should be a shame to Monday Okpebholo, the Edo State governor. This is the same man that said that he did not mind if everyone in the state is kidnapped. With such utterances, we can see how governance work in Nigeria. It is politics before security. Politics before a better economy. Politics before better education. Politics before youth empowerment.

Nigerians are not ready. For the fact that people still collect as little as Semovita to support a politician, the status quo continues.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF SCHOOLS IN AKOKO EDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

The Edo State Government hereby announces for the information of the general public, the immediate closure of the following schools in Akoko Edo Local Government Area with immediate effect and until further notice:

1. Ososo Grammar School, Ososo
2. Ososo Comprehensive High School, Ososo
3. Makeke Secondary School, Makeke

This decision has been taken by Governor Monday Okpebholo as part of the government's commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, particularly students, teachers, and school personnel.

Consequently, all academic and non-academic activities in the affected schools are suspended with immediate effect, pending further directives from the government.

However, students currently sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be allowed access to their examination centres under strict security arrangements coordinated by school authorities, security agencies, and community leaders.

Principals of the affected schools are directed to:

- Ensure the safe and orderly release of students to their parents and guardians.
- Secure all school facilities, equipment, and property throughout the closure period.
- Maintain regular communication with the Edo State Government, the Chief Inspector of Education, and relevant security agencies.
Strictly comply with any additional directives issued by the government.

Parents, guardians, and residents of the affected communities are advised to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate fully with security agencies as efforts are intensified to maintain peace and ensure public safety.

The Edo State Government assures the public that all necessary measures are being taken to address the situation and restore normal academic activities as soon as conditions permit.

Are we talking about the state of that silly governor who made that vexing statement that "even though they kidnapped all of us there is no vacancy in Asorock", we should be mindful of the kind of idiots give we our sovereignty.

I commend the DSS for this operation. It has potentially spared the nation another round of embarrassment and saved many families from untold grief and suffering.

I urge the government to focus more on protecting citizens and less on politics. Kidnapping and other violent crimes must attract swift and severe consequences to serve as a deterrent to others.

One thing Nigerians should not take away from our security agencies is that they are working. Unfortunately, their constitutional responsibilities are often overshadowed by political controversies and the negative consequences of political interference. Nevertheless, when they succeed in carrying out their primary duty of safeguarding lives and property, they deserve to be acknowledged.

Could remember vividly when I served in Edo state and the were talking about this Akoko Edo of a place... Heard they were still backwards in terms of electricity, network and pipe borne water as in nothing dey that area.
