INTERNAL NDC RIFT: Insiders Reveal How Peter Obi Ignored Early Warnings Over Alliance with Seriake Dickson By 247ureports ABUJA, Nigeria — Fresh details have emerged regarding the internal friction rocking the opposition Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with political insiders revealing that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi was explicitly warned against forming an alliance with Bayelsa politician Seriake Dickson before the party’s formation. Colleagues within the opposition space reportedly urged Obi to steer clear of the former Bayelsa State Governor, advising him instead to build a movement under "more virgin" or lesser-known political platforms, such as the The Early Warnings and Obi's Deflection According to a prominent politician who witnessed the early coalition talks, Obi brushed aside the concerns about Dickson's political history and reputation. Obi reportedly argued that his decision to merge forces was driven strictly by a desire to solve Nigeria's systemic problems rather than personal ambition. "Peter Obi deflected the concerns, stating that he was only joining the party to help solve some problems in Nigeria and not for selfish reasons," the source recalled. Obi reportedly maintained that because he wanted nothing personal from the party structure, he would not find himself in situations that would trigger personal conflicts with Dickson. Suspicious Sabotage and APC's link Despite Obi's early optimism, the current reality within the NDC tells a different story. Loyalists of both Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are increasingly suspicious of Dickson's current political maneuvers. A growing faction within the party suspects that the Bayelsa politician may be secretly working hand-in- hand with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Bola Tinubu administration to destabilize the opposition coalition from within. While there is currently no concrete or readily available evidence proving that Dickson is actively colluding with the APC, the escalating internal wrangling, parallel leadership disputes, and sudden administrative roadblocks within the NDC have led many party faithful to suspect foul play. A Fragile Opposition Coalition The unfolding drama threatens the structural stability of the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections. What was designed to be a formidable, united front bringing together Obis grassroots support, Kwankwaso's Kwankwasiyya movement, and traditional regional powerbrokers is now facing deep ideological and structural mistrust, raising questions about whether Obi's calculation to overlook political warnings will ultimately cost the coalition. |

Mynd44:Peter Obi ignored the so called red flags because he has no interest in being in charge of any party's political structure to grab power for long and for personal use or self enrichment like the average Nigerian politicians. This has always been his person. He doesnt like having a hold on any party's structure like other politicians. He felt and believed that since he has no interest in taking hold of the party's structure, he wouldn't have any issue with Dickson. All Dickson was expected to do is respect the two big movements that joined his party by drafting their key leaders into the NDC leadership and then avoid bringing in known former critics of Obi or Kwankwaso closer to the party's leadership, they can be floor members but not leaders making decisions and willing to play saboteurs. If Dickson thinks Obi has been caged based on the new electoral law, he should wait and see, he might be making the biggest mistake of his life because Obi is not desperate to become President and may leave the party even if it means him not running for 2027 Presidency again. We know Tinubu is the one desperately doing all these things to stop Obi that won 2023 Presidential election. They are scared that if Obi is allowed again without serious checkmating and marking using government institutions, that Obi might win again and it might not be easy for them to overturn it this time, that is why he used Nigerian courts and some paid Nigerians to scatter every party Obi got involved with; from LP to ADC to NDC, and even used INEC to ensure Obi and his associates didn't register any new party, also used the corrupt national assembly to make sure independent candidature for elections is not allowed, all to stop Peter Obi. Let's see how it goes, you guys should prepare for anything, there will be surprises |

We warned that the NDC had long been touted as Wike's SPV to field candidates against Fubara if APC were to give him the ticket. This was long before the Lokoja court order that gave birth to the party. Dickson and Kwankwaso are simply carrying out their assignment to the later. Obi should have been wary of Kwankwaso who said in 2023 that he would rather support Tinubu if he doesn't win. How can a man that contested the presidential elections in 2023 after 8 years of Buhari suddenly turn around in 2027 to claim it was the turn of the South? Obi fell for the scam and began to wear branded OK t-shirts everywhere while still in a coalition. Something Kwankwaso has never done till this day. Now, it's Dickson himself seeming to slow down the momentum of the party. Several weeks after a direct primary, results are still yet to be released while he continues to release disparaging remarks against Obi and his Obidients. Obi is tongue-tied and has apparently thrown his Obidients under the bus because he has secured a free ticket for himself.

franchasng:Stop deceiving yourself that obi is not desperate to become president. He is over desperate. He wanted power desperately and he didn't want anyone to challenge him for power. That is the reason why you see him jumping from one party to another for free ticket. How do you expect dickson to form a party and handover the party structure to obi and kwakwanso? Lastly, stop blaming balablu for everything. What is happening in NDC and other opposition parties is called conflict of interest. It is bound to happen with or without balablu's influence. It is also happening in the so called APC but they were able to manage it to some extent. But obi is not prepared to manage crisis with any party, he wants where everything is made ready. |

At this point, given that Dickson's interview, it might be safe to say PO will not be fully supported by the party. Except the opposition comes together as a unified force, they should forget it. From what I forsee, Atiku will get majority votes but fail to win 25% in the required number of states. Obi will clear the SE as usual but come 3rd. Bat will come second in terms of majority votes but get the required 25% in 2/3 states... Earlier error in my misinterpretation of constitutional requirement is duly noted. |

If I were obi, I will ; 1. Go and apologise to APGA and seek forgiveness for swearing that I will never leave the party. 2. I will start all over and create my own party from scratch against 2031. 3. I will start grooming young politicians with my political ideology in preparation for the task ahead. |

AMINDA:Anyone but Atiku. Only a foulish Nigerian would support Atiku or any Fulani even in 2031. Instead of Atiku, Tinubu should rig as usual. |

Igbophobia:I sense defeat already. Like I said, Obidients will end up voting for Tinubu in 2027. Not out of conviction but out of conquest. Tinubu didn't rig in 2027, the North/fulanis voted for him in 2023 as payback for supporting a Fulani Buhari in 2015. Why is Obi running with a Fulani Kwankwaso anyways? Fulani Kwankwaso contested in 2023 after 8 years of Fulani Buhari presidency. His assignment by Tinubu was simple and he has perfectly executed it. Even if Tinubu wins in 2027 (without your support of course), power will still head North. In the end, the only conversation that matters when you play politics at the national level is, "what's in it for my people"?. Only one region appear to be losing out in the power equation. The Southeast will be better-off wholeheartedly supporting Tinubu in 2027. Listen to your new crop of leaders in Soludo, Umahi and Uzodinma so the East can stand a chance at a Vice presidency to a Fulaniman in 2031. Honest advise. P.S: Your username is already suggesting victimhood. No one has phobia for the Igbos, they just need to play this politics like other regions are playing it. Without emotions. |

| Re: Peter Obi Ignored Early Warnings Over Alliance With Seriake Dickson by AMINDA: 9:15am On Jun 11 |
Igbophobia:Agreed. Obi should immediately step down and support Tinubu and not try to split Southern votes. He should refrain from going all over the place with branded OK t-shirts, forcing an alliance with a Fulani Kwankwaso all in a bid to get Fulani votes. It's hypocritical and the Fulanis see through him. |

I will still blame Tinubu for Obi’s decision to join NDC, ask me why ![]() If only Tinubu had allowed Obi to win in 2023 by not running a Muslim-Muslim ticket, Obi would have remained in LP till now and would have nothing to do with NDC. ![]() I know only Obidients will make sense out of what I just wrote, every other person will just hiss and shake their heads ![]() |
| Re: Peter Obi Ignored Early Warnings Over Alliance With Seriake Dickson by Igbophobia: 11:25am On Jun 11 |
AMINDA:That's Obi's business whether he steps up or down. What I'm saying is that not Nigerian should be stewpid enough to vote a Fulani. Tinubu doesn't need Obi stepping down anyway. he can 'win' the way he did in 2023 and complete south (Yoruba) presidency the way you all shouted in 2014 that it was the turn of the north. In any case no one cares ![]() |

1vandragon:You're half true. Pls tell me where Atiku will amass vote that will make him get popular votes. The results will look like last election with Tinubu slightly better and Atiku also but will still trail Tinubu. As for PO he wouldn't get upto the 6M votes this time around and will perform clearly less than previous. Like you rightly said, the unification of all opposition especially Atiku and Obi can really make any impact if even is not late now because they are just wasting a lot of times on frivolous things that wouldn't get any of them near Aso rock. |
| Re: Peter Obi Ignored Early Warnings Over Alliance With Seriake Dickson by AMINDA: 11:40am On Jun 11 |
Igbophobia:The people that shouted it was the turn of the North were Northern PDP members whom Jonathan had signed an agreement with. Same way Tinubu's Emi Lokan statement was directed at Northern APC members. Ojukwu contested the 2007 elections under APGA after 8 years of Obasanjo's presidency. Did any Northerner ask him to step down that it was the turn of the North? Did any Northerner create a username with "Fulaniphobia" as a result of that? They didn't do so because the North didn't have any pact with him. What pact does the Southeast have with the North for you all to be demanding that all Northerners step down from the race? If you are truly serious about "Southern turn", ask Obi to step aside and wholeheartedly back Tinubu to continue so you can stand a chance of being a V.P to the North in 2031 if he wins. Otherwise, you lose that slot to the Southsouth while screaming Igbophobia. |

franchasng:Rubbish. did you people not hail obi as a smart man that he instructed Dickson to form NDC. you guys are just is mob and a useful tools. he is not desperate for power and yet visited Gumi twice and started visiting and donating substandard borehole to the Muslim who he urge Christian to take back power from. you guys are just political naive people who do know the different between right and left. |

AMINDA:As a bonanfide Igbo, your gaslighting means nothing to me. I really don't care if another corrupt incompetent entity grabs power whether he's from the SW NE or SS. The earlier you guys ruin the country as you're wont to, the better for everyone. What I'll neever support is a Fulani who'll give tacit support for continual ethnic cleansing. After all with all the calamity of Buhari and disaster of Tinubu, the poorest entities in the country are still not Igbo. No to any Fulani. Now or in the future okay. |
