Lagos Man Expected GTBank to Reverse Unauthorised N310,000 Debit. Additional N100,000 Left His Account

Clement Oku, a Lagos State resident, was ready to go to bed on May 22 when an unwelcoming notification of an unauthorised banking transaction of N100,000 came in from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank).

Oku told FIJ that this is the second time in three years that thousands would be debited from his GTBank account without his permission.

He said that he had not shared his details with anyone as GTBank had alleged the last time he suffered a similar banking experience.


“I did not do anything but I saw N100,000 leave my account for no reason of mine. When I went to the bank to complain, the staff members said I would have to wait for eight working days,” Oku told FIJ.

In February 2024, Oku visited a GTBank branch in Alausa to make a withdrawal only to find that N310,000 had left his account. He said the bank told him that he had shared his details but he denied the cclaim

In early May, he told FIJ that he was on the verge of leaving his N310,000 “to God” after more than two years of seeking to get a refund of the disputed funds.

Banking system in Nigeria is a scamming syndicate controlled by the Central Bank. Imagine that when I moved money from one personal account to another, they have to charge me for my own money again? A friend in London said that for the few years he has spent in the UK there has not been all these unnecessary charges and deductions from his bank account. Yet they almost emptied his Nigerian domiciled in Nigeria through unnecessary deductions.

Na fraudsters full most Nigeria tier one banks.
In 2022 a friend told me how a woman living and working in Saudi Arabia was debited ₦5,000,000 from her Nigeria bank account.
She only pay into the account and have never withdrawn from the account since she moved to Saudi.
So she contacted the firm my friend works for to recover her money, only for the woman to receive credit alert of ₦5,000,000 after they (the firm my friend works for) began their investigation. Las las the person know sey dem go catch am so na to return the money pay am pass.
They stopped after the woman informed them that she has been credited because thats what they were hired to do.
Conclusion is that the job was an internal job by bank worker(s).
For me, i only use tier 1 banks for domiciliary accounts otherwise na opay, palmpay, monie point and co i get business with for my day to day runnings
Dem no born anybody well to withdraw from any of my dorm accounts, walahi, me and my account officer and people wey dey the banch wey i visit go die that day.
