“Pay my salary” – Lady cries out, exposes alleged experience working for popular Nollywood actress

A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to call out Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa, alleging that she refused to pay her salary after she worked for her as a sales representative.

In a viral video circulating online, she claimed that she accepted the job despite being a graduate due to the country’s economic hardship and limited employment opportunities.

“I’m just here to tell you guys to help me beg Funmi Awelewa to pay my salary. I’m a graduate, but there is no job in the country. I even have a little business I do for myself, but it is not moving, so I accepted to be a sales rep,” she said.

According to her, she was often sent on errands that did not align with her job description, including massaging the actress, shopping, and inspecting properties, while also handling personal tasks for her.

The lady further alleged that she sustained an injury while working at the actress store and later requested part of her salary to seek medical treatment.

“I’ve been working with you for like 16 days now. I’m not telling you to give me money. Give me half of my salary and let me go and treat myself. But she replied that she is not ready to pay me a dime and blocked me,” she alleged.

She also claimed to have reported the matter to the police, adding that the actress allegedly declined an invitation to appear.

As of the time of filing this report, Funmi Awelewa has not publicly responded to the allegations.

This one just want to trend. You just started a job and after 16 days you're already demanding half salary. Was that in the agreement?

What if your madam doesn't have the money on her because the agreement was that you will get paid at the end of the month, I dislike people like this.

If you no longer wish to work there, then resign and leave. Stop this pull down mentality.

From my perspective this lady sounded like under normal circumstances, being a Sales Representative is below her standard as a graduate. That's a poor way to reason. Besides, given that she worked for only 16 days, the said actress doesn't owe her if the original understanding they had was that she would be paid monthly rather than hourly or daily, her injury claim notwithstanding.

Anyway, I pray the actress would just extend a helping hand to her for God's sake only.

I once recruited someone like this. He worked on Friday and on Monday. On Monday, he asked for 6 weeks leave to run a personal training opportunity.

I told him I would recruit another person, he asked for the salary of the 2 days he worked. A former church member ooo.

People who do daily labor work before getting employed do this. Their mentality is still stuck in that daily pay mode.

The boss should call her lawyers and sue her arse sharp for defamation and intent to malign her person and brand......her family go beg tire.

Nigerians are very wicked and terrible people,, labour union should protect these poor workers seriously..
Most of these women will hire these poor workers, and then turn them from sales girls or cook to into errand house girls and daycare without any salary increment,.
When they complain, they simply ask them to stop working without paying them off

The actress should prorate her pay and give her what is due if she worked for those 16 days.

Perhaps you have not fulfilled some parts of agreement.

That must be the issue.

I doubt there was any firm agreement or employment letter but typically within the first three months you can both chose to close without notice. And if you quit without notice you forfeit part of your salary

This is also what social media has done

As it is the lady is trying to play a blackmail game implying sexual harassment. That may not go the way she thinks.

Then again, this may just be a publicity stunt by ms awelewa who I had not heard of before today.
