A group of local hunters involved in a rescue operation to free kidnapped victims in Komu, Oyo State, have reportedly been detained by the police following the mission.

According to reports shared by the Director of Agidigbo FM, Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat, the hunters launched an operation to rescue individuals who had been abducted by kidnappers in the area. During the operation, the hunters reportedly ran out of ammunition and sent some members to the city to purchase additional supplies.

However, the hunters sent for the purchase were allegedly arrested by police officers after obtaining the ammunition.

The report further stated that after the kidnapped victims were successfully rescued, other members of the hunters’ group visited the police station in an attempt to secure the release of their detained colleagues. Despite their efforts, the police reportedly refused to release them.

The development has generated reactions among community members, with calls for clarification over the circumstances surrounding the arrest and detention of the hunters.

It is finished for this country. Useless police say around doing nothing. Hunters engaged in self help efforts and all the police could do us arrest and detain them? They couldn't go after the kidnappers and neither did they interview any of the rescued kidnapped victims to verify the truth behind what the hunters are saying but instead, they detained them.
What is wrong with the Nigerian police force?

Some intellectuals will tell you it's the work of the Nigeria police to detain the hunters forgetting that it was the failure of the NPF that made the hunters to do the needful. Imagine trusting hunters to do a better job than the NPF is a slap on the slap on the police as a whole but this is Nigeria.

Some states in Nigeria are know for absurdities and oddities, Oyo, Zamfara, Katrina, Borno are topping that list.

Police annoyances are there is no way to rewrite the story to place them in the centre of the story,so no way to infuse we are on top of the situation, very usefully carefree organisation.The commissioner of police wouldn't be able to brief the governor.

This is strange and Nigeria is really a strange country. Since the other hunters have clarified that those hunters are path of their group then the police have no reason to detained them further.
Hunters could rescued kidnapped individuals and police cannot. Police work have graduated into extorting money from people only.
