Who killed Dele Giwa?
Who killed Funsho Williams?

The 1993 election was supposed to be our moment of true national unity. Look at those numbers. Abiola did not just win; he built a coalition that bridged the divide between the North Central and the South West. For a brief, intoxicating moment, it felt as though we had finally outgrown the regionalism that keeps us fragmented. But in this country, such optimism is often a dangerous provocation to the powers that prefer the status quo.

Meanwhile, how is Babangida doing today?

The once Almighty ruler who thought the world revolves around his pencil. The Minna archangel!

It makes me remember some great men alike who were silenced rather than good governance see the light.

The shadows that hang over our political history are long and dark. The brutal silencing of Dele Giwa in 1986 and the cold, calculated murder of Funsho Williams in 2006 were not merely isolated crimes. They were messagesβ€”sharp, violent reminders of what happens when individuals become too prominent or too capable of shifting the national narrative. We dance around these ghosts, but the truth remains locked behind doors that no one in power wants to open.

It makes me wonder if Abacha really stole that much announced. Maybe underrepresented or overrepresented. Or are other corrupt people hiding their own crimes under the umbrella of the late man who cannot defend himself anymore?

Just the same way more are waiting for others to be late then they blame them for everything!

By the way...

Who killed Dele Giwa?
Who killed Funsho Williams?

Igbos were here voting others
But one time they are pressing for the position, we start hearing all manner of rubbish. Imagine it was an Igbo man that annulled the election, tribalists and bigots will never cease to tell the story anytime its election time.

Let me just answer one of your questions: "How's Babangida doing today?"

He's doing about as well as you'd expect any super rich former head of state with old-age health issues to be doing. He's getting the best medical care for his situation. He lives in his huge mansion in Minna and gets occasional political visitors. You could even say he put Minna on Nigeria's political map. If he were just an average guy, he'd probably be dead.

Basically, he's doing great.

Oh no, this reminder every June 12. My dear SE always playing on the losing side of history.
Funny how if SW says 1+1=2, SE will aggressively say NEVER. Smile.

South Southern Nigeria has always been the only neutral region in this country. We don't have any sentimental attachment when it comes to elections. We vote not because you're our brother but because we see you as the best candidate among the rest.

By now, many states in Nigeria have grown exponentially in population but they still can't give figures that one region in 1993 give.

Some states still having less than half a million total voters. Engineered or disenfranchised?

Truth be told SW does that too and even better

In 2023
SE 87% Obi, 5% Tinubu 4% Atiku
SW 53% Tinubu 22% Atiku, 19% Obi
SS 41% Obi 31% to Tinubu 22% Atiku
NOTE that in 2023 Obi's number was suppressed in SW and SS and Tinubu's number inflated in SS and some SW states. By a combination of INEC, and state governors in those states. Otherwise we would have seen a more one-side result in SS and a more evenly-spread number in SW
In 2019
SE gave 68% to Atiku 29% to Buhari
SW gave 54% to Buhari 42% to Atiku
SS gave 68% to Atiku 28% to Buhari
In 2015
SE 93% Jonathan 5% Buhari
SW 54% Buhari 43% Jonathan
SS 90% Jonathan 8% Buhari e reach your brother turn u give am 90% of your votes
In 2011
SE 98% Jonathan 0.5% Buhari
SW 50% Jonathan 44% Buhari
SS 95% Jonathan 3% Buhari e reach your brother turn u give am 95% of your votes
In 2007
SE 86% Yaradua 10% Buhari 3% Atiku
SW 50% Yaradua 16% Buhari 32% Atiku
SS 92% Yaradua 5% Buhari 2% Atiku
In 2003
SE 94% Obasanjo 5% Buhari
SW 88% Obasanjo 11% Buhari. Even SE and SS gave OBJ much more percentage than SW so we cant say this was sentiment
SS 93% Obasanjo 6% Buhari
In 1999
SE 69% Obasanjo 30% Falae
SW 20% Obasanjo 80% Falae This one na still SW vs SW so you cant use this to support sentimental vote based on brotherhood
SS 77% Obasanjo 22% Falae
Re: How Nigerians Voted On June 12, 1993 by sweerychick(f): 10:44am On Jun 13
So Abiola got huge votes in the SE, yet some bigots would be showing us images of how SE voted Peter obi

So SE decided to go with Tofa
Why is it now suddenly a problem when SW decides to align with the North.
In the first republic too, Azikwe's NCNC eventually formed an alliance with the North's NPC against Awolowo's AG.
2nd republic, they still formed an alliance with shehu shagari.
3rd republic still went with Tofa against Abiola

Lolz, it's the Zikist mindset of conquest. The North has a religious mindset of conquering and ruling all and see no one as a threat to that but look for willing collaboration.
The SE has a tribal mindset of conquering and ruling all and see the SW as the only threat to that. The SE will rather allow the North rule, thinking they can be easily manipulated and still rule by proxy.
The SW just wants peace and enjoyment with everyone and are quite naive about power play. They've enjoyed more on miracle and destiny than on strategy.

that's because south south doesn't have a dominant ethnic group. Its made up of minority tribes and sub ethnic groups.. that is an off shoot of the 2 main ethnic groups in the south, Igbo and Yoruba.

Tofa's Running Mate was Sylvester Ugoh, an Ibo man and a Biafra Cabinet member.

Abiola picked a fellow Muslim. babagana Kingibe, the first Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Northerners voted along ethnic lines, for Tofa to win in the North, but the vote was split due to religious sentiment.

South east voted for a ticket that had one of their own,, and what they considered a balanced, Muslim-Christian Ticket.

I hope you understand?

I am Yoruba and a Christian. I supported Abiola back then, because we all knew him.
