President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed shock over the death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar while in the custody of terrorists in Katsina State. Naija News reports that the Katsina State Government on Saturday confirmed the death of Major General Rabe Abubakar, while in the captivity of bandits. The government described the incident as tragic, saying his death was a major loss not only to his family and Katsina State but also to the country. According to the statement, the retired major general died from complications arising from diabetes and hypertension while still being held by his abductors. Reacting in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President noted that General Abubakar, after a distinguished career in the military, retired a few years ago, adding that he was on his way to his hometown when the hoodlums captured him. Tinubu commiserated with his family, especially his wife, who is still being held against her will by the captors. He also extended his condolences to the Katsina State government and the armed forces. The statement said: “While the terrorists have done their worst, the President wants them to know that the government will never bow to their demand to release their members held by our security agencies.” “As I said on June 12: “Bandits, kidnappers, and sponsors of terror should now surrender or face the full force of the Nigerian State. These windows of surrender will not remain open forever. And no mercy will be shown to those who trade in the blood of Nigerians. “As Nigerians, we must stand united and be assured that the enemies of our nation shall soon be history. We will triumph over terror and continue to build a more prosperous nation. “General Abubakar’s death should further serve as a defining moment in our battle against terrorists and insurgents, never to negotiate with them on any terms, but to continue to treat them as the greatest enemies of our dear nation, who should never be spared,” the statement added https://www./2026/06/13/negotiation-terrorists-tinubu-death-retired-major-general/ |

Ultimately and inevitably, the North and South will seperate so Northerners, leaders and followers, who all appear to be in bed with terror can go and join their terrorist Sahel affiliates of Niger Republic, Mali, Burkina Faso, Chad etal. It is going to happen. Only a question of time. Northern Nigeria, especially their born-to-rule leaders, cannot read the mood in the room to note the world is getting fed up of the trouble they are causing Nigeria. Especially because they are of relatively neglible value with the SS and SW being the regions the world see as trading and productive assets. |

Tenses:Have you reflected on your own life? If you call Tinubu a failure, aren't you accusing him of thesame thing that you are based on your present life condition. |

Way to go. Just go hard on them and expose their sponsors. This is much better than Peter Obi's proposed strategy of negotiating with armed groups and other criminals. |

WizardOfNG:The joke is on you. The president has Matawalle, who pioneered negotiations with bandits while he was governor, as his minister of defence and who only yesterday, said only God can end insecurity in the country. He has an NSA who referred to bandits as his "brothers." He also has several APC governors who are openly negotiating with terrorists in their states and granting amnesty to repentant terrorists all under the guise of "non-kinetic approach" and he keeps mum. He only remembers he's Commander-in-Chief when it comes to declaring state of emergencies in politically non-compliant states and incarcerating opposition figures. |

That line belongs to America who has what it takes to eliminate terrorism- equipment and political will. Don't drop such line here while we die daily. If Yar'adua negotiated with the Niger delta militants and peace return to the region, nothing stop your government if you don't have the capacity to wipe them off to negotiate with them in the interest of innocent citizens whose lives are been threatened or cut short on daily basis. Oga drop that quote and work. Commander-in-Chief is not just a nomenclature but responsibilities. |

What about government officials that negotiate with bandits. As early as 2weeks ago video emerged of bandits meeting with state government officials in a northern state in a peace meeting with terrorists. |
