Biodun556:
He was on his way to his hometown when the hoodlums captured him.

In a video released a week after bandits held Rabe and his wife hostage, they asked the government to release three members of their gang in captivity.

Also terrorists holding school children and their teachers in Oyo State were said to have demanded the release of their members before the children would regain their freedom.

But in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Saturday, he said, “While the terrorists have done their worst, the President wants them to know that the government will never bow to their demand to release their members.

“As I said on June 12, Bandits, kidnappers, and sponsors of terror should now surrender or face the full force of the Nigerian State. These windows of surrender will not remain open forever. And no mercy will be shown to those who trade in the blood of Nigerians.

“As Nigerians, we must stand united and be assured that the enemies of our nation shall soon be history. We will triumph over terror and continue to build a more prosperous nation.

“General Abubakar’s death should further serve as a defining moment in our battle against terrorists and insurgents, never to negotiate with them on any terms, but to continue to treat them as the greatest enemies of our dear nation, who should never be spared.”

The President commiserated with the family of the retired General, especially his wife, who is still being held against her will.

He also extended his condolences to the Katsina State government and the armed forces.

Please the window of surrendering should have a deadline. And as regards the vow not to succumb, this is the second time.

If those people hold his wife or son, won't he pay? It's because he doesn't care about his citizens. Why can't he sack his security chiefs,if they can't stop this insecurity? How many of the said sponsors of terrorism had he arrested, but yet they could arrest the brafra agitators. They obviously know what they are doing. What happens to ending open grazing, since that's the excuse fulani uses in moving around states?

Oyo school children is about to turn to chibok girls story ..

Tinubu can't use his power as president, to rescue even kids kidnapped in his backyard.

He should be ashamed of himself...
We all know it's election time so the terrorists Ipob and Fulani killers with their political sponsors must up their game.
If the Government continues to pay, tell me what is stopping every Ipob and Fulani killer from becoming kidnapper? The Government should keep on paying them until we have 10 million kidnappers across the nation right?
It's not going to work. The more you pay them the more people become criminals everyday

We’ve been hearing this same story for the past how many years now.

We need action, not all these stories.

Re: Tinubu Mourns Retired Gen Rabe, Vows Not Bow To Bandits' demand by Reference(m):
And what are the 'colleagues' of the bandits doing in custody. This is where the President can start, can start his own investigations from.

Are they incarcerated, are they in detention, what are they doing there.

Because if they are not being interrogated and are not standing trial, they become another problem just as we see played out here.

Apprehension, interrogation, trial and sentence to END the circle of justice. Mr President should move for SWIFT action on these processes. And I am aware the sentence for banditry is capital punishment, which if these felons are tried in a Federal court the warrants should be signed at the Federal level and in the atmosphere of security emergency executed swiftly as well.

The General was abducted because these bandits too are looking for company, perhaps leadership, certainly solidarity. They want their people out of custody as a priority. The government should realise this is a weakness and ensure a regrouping NEVER happens.

By keeping them in detention the government is opening the door for speculation that the prisoners are being used as bargaining chips.

Mr. Government, these people are not prisoners of war, they are felons of the vilest kinds and should face capital punishment. No bandit should be in custody if investigations/interrogations are over.

Bandit have two demands.

1. Pay ransom or
2. They unlive the captive.

The have unlive the Gwneral, meaning you have already bow down to their condition.

There should be no windows, no bargains, no red lines, nothing. The security forces should go after them. Anyone of them lucky to be alive should be interrogated, stripped of Intel, sent before a serious judge and capital punishment conducted, all within a specific minimal time frame.

The government needs to set up special courts if necessary, liaise with the NJC to appoint competent judges to handle these cases rapidly and ensure through the Legislature that all cases of banditry are 'Federal' cases so there are no biases and death warrants are 'Federal'.

The government needs to match this disaster with all the seriousness it can muster. Enough of pussyfooting.

Abegi just shot up already, what a failure

Am not happy about his death buh the truth most be told, the military never wanted this war against terrorism to end bcoz they benefit more from the proceeds, almost 3trillion on military budget alone, that's crazy mehn, so maybe if they start picking them one after the other just maybe the rest generals will seat up and fight this terrorist wholeheartedly
u are very correct the military is definitely involve..... The moment government handover pipeline contract to private film...

No more negotiation with terrorists, no more ransoms. Though their actions hurts us everyday, they make us question the government efforts but still yet no government should negotiate with terrorists. This is the only way to make them go away.

Buhari was paying ransom, but Tinubu refused to pay which is the best decision?

Negotiators and military personnel were sharing in the ransom , kidnappers kept growing in numbers
Not paying is best. But you need to have good systems and hostage rescue units.

Some days ago, some people did a solidarity protest in support of Tinubu -- and they even blamed some imaginary people for "keeping" the children in the bush - just to taint the Tinubu Administration.

Now, who should be blamed for the death of A "Major" inside the bush while he was being "Kept" there?

If this is coming from a "leader of tomorrow" then Nigeria is in deep mess.
There are over 100,000 rural communities in Nigeria, if you decide to arm their leaders and hunters with guns to fight bandits, do you think you're solving the problem or creating a much bigger one?
So what's the solution?

Since our security agency are toothless at griping the terrorist. Should we now hope and pray that we lucky we don't end up in their den. The way things are going l wouldn't object self armament.

My brother I understand your frustration. But the fact is our security agents are very good and efficient, only that they're being crippled by this same politicians we are praying to for help. If we have a really committed leader, it won't take more than 6 months to decapitate this monster I tell you.
The solution is a God-fearing committed leader. Whether democratic or military doesn't even matter.

What's the difference between paying ransom and rehabilitation, re-integration of same bandits?

But buhari was paying ransom, yet the kidnapping business kept booming
Bobo Tinubu is paying random, the kebbi school kidnap that happened 2024, random was paid.
The niger school kidnap, ransom was paid...
Infact in niger state, we had 2 incidents...
If random wasnt paid, show me the bandits that were involved in those incidents.

U can full ur fellow zombies not me, so bandits will abduct school kids, take them into the bush, spend days, weeks n months feeding them, at the end they will just release the kids.. no shots fired, no body killed, no swap...

Abeg even ur dog will marvel at ur mumuness

..the next line of action is to give the bandits and terrorists amnesty, food, money and monthly stipends and reintegrate them back to the society as the military and federal government has been doing... Tinubu is not serious in addressing and tackling bandits and terrorists.. giving them amnesty..is that a president is serious in tackling and addressing terrorism
That's to say all our president I'd for the bandits.
They all favor them like😈😈😈 wives
