https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww_4Vn-PJ5s

Residents of Nsukka, Enugu State, witnessed a heart-stopping moment after a man working on an electricity pole reportedly suffered an electric shock while carrying out maintenance work.

Eyewitnesses who gathered at the scene watched in fear as the worker appeared to be in distress high above the ground, raising concerns that the incident could end in tragedy.

As panic spread among onlookers, another man stepped forward and climbed the pole in a daring rescue attempt. Despite the obvious danger, the rescuer carefully made his way up and successfully assisted the stranded worker, drawing cheers and admiration from residents who had been watching helplessly below.

The dramatic incident, which was captured on video, has since gone viral on social media, with many Nigerians praising the bravery of the rescuer while also raising questions about safety procedures for electrical maintenance work.

The footage serves as a reminder of the risks faced daily by electricity workers and the importance of strict adherence to safety measures when handling high-voltage equipment.

Many social media users have described the rescuer as a hero, saying his quick action may have prevented a fatal outcome.

I won’t watch the video. I hope it was performed with wisdom. Sometimes jumping into action during an emergency leads to multiple casualties.

You go climb pole for a country wey no get central control.

I have seen a staff of NEPA climb pole to repair a faulty connection. Before he climb the high tension he turned off the feeder but as he climbed the pole someone in his station turned it back on and the young man died from electrocution.

Sometimes someone is overwhelmed by a need to help someone. Would someone be "stupid" if they rushed to help your child?

It's actually not bravery but stupidity. Thank God he was not electrocuted himself which could have been the case.

He would have died a hero though

I have heard of a man who was "overwhelmed by a need to help" a man who was drowning. The rescuer can not swim himself, so they both died in the river.

My child won't be stupid to climb an electric pole without his safety gears on.

Nigerian electricity workers are the stupidest, the dumbest and the most mumu in the world, just like the companies that they work for.

Firstly, how can you go to work on high tension WITHOUT protective gears? At least gloves as a minimum? Sometimes I drive electricians away if u show up to work for me without gloves and boots, because if you're electrocuted in the process, the society will expect me to bear or share responsibility.

Yet these estimated bill companies would allow someone climb electric poles without protection. A country of ANYHOW-ness. This is why we bother God so much as if we're the only people God created. Simple precaution we can't take. Does this company no have a Safety Officer or Safety Dept? Can NERC not sue them or penalize them for not implementing the most basic of the safety rules at work? Useless people. May the light shock their Oga one day.

Both of them did not wear helmet. That's number 1 risk.

He displayed humanity but that was a game that could ended both of them.

Let say he was lucky to escape death this time, he might not next time.

I already saw one religious person saying thank God for someone risking his own life. Mtchew

He turned off the feeder at the control room and went out to climb a pole?

He must have forgotten to put the Do Not Operate signs on the feeder switch before he left. A colleague came and turned the feeder on.

What a costly error!
Kudos to the rescuer although supply might have tripped off after contact.
Only intensive therapy can help him make use of that left arm, and that is minute at best.
May God continue to keep us safe

He had gears Oga. It was his upper arm that made contact with the live wire. That matter Na another discourse entirely.
Why there was live current ana maybe his carelessness with his arms/hands

In this case, the gears will be gloves, harness and helmet. Helmet is missing sha but harness and gloves dey. He would have fallen from height if not for the harness.

So you see gloves on his hands abi? Maybe it's my eyes. Please screenshot the gloves on him and enlarge it so I can see it too. Apart from the lineman's belt for climbing, nothing that guy wear
