IBADAN — The Oyo State Government on Monday, June 15, 2026, demolished a market at Mobil, Ring Road, Ibadan, after declaring it a hideout for criminal activities.

The action comes one week after a bungalow in Lako Community was pulled down for allegedly sheltering kidnappers who abducted former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu’s sister and her twin sons.

Officials warned landlords and residents to report suspicious activity, restating the state’s “zero-tolerance policy against insecurity.”

The demolitions follow recent bandit attacks where scores of schoolchildren and teachers were kidnapped. One teacher was killed in captivity, with abductees still held as of the report.

May we not be unfortunate.
You can do all the due diligence and still fall victim in situations like this. The Government needs to do more other than blanket demolition.

But all those arrested in connection to Adelabu's sister case are Yoruba Christians and their counterparts from land of Biafra, I think Yoruba Christians are more associated to crime than the Yoruba Muslim

If any SW state escapes the harmer of Islamists, Oyo is doubtful. There are more Muslims in Oyo State than non Muslims.

Not a fan of Makinde but this is excellent. That's a scary place for those very familiar with Ring Road. I missed road entered there as quick access from my hotel to that Shoprite Mall one evening and regretted it instantly. It's like the place was populated by scary zombies.

You ignore the fact that most of the muslims in Oyo are super liberal. They will eat Christmas meal with you and will never forget to send you your meat during sallah. They were never brought up to hurt their own blood in the name of religion.
