South African Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture - Gayton McKenzie - says he feels "insulted" that Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi talked publicly about artists’ plight without first consulting him. McKenzie was reacting to Kubayi’s warning at Sunday’s Inter-Ministerial Committee on Migration media briefing that continued tensions around migration were beginning to have economic consequences, revealing that at least one local artist had all her performances across Africa cancelled. “The majority of South African artists perform on the continent, and many of them are seeing their gigs being cancelled. That's another impact, because they benefit quite a lot, they perform at live performance events and everything. “We can’t lie about it, the backlash,” Kubayi said. “One artist reached out to me to say all her gigs on the continent had been cancelled. This is an income loss for a South African.” She said the creative sector was particularly vulnerable, as many South African artists rely on live performances across the continent for their income.
“I find it very insulting that Minister Kubayi can talk about the plight of artists to the public without talking to me first" tweeted Gayton McKenzie.Source McKenzie has repeatedly come under fire for not caring about the Arts and Culture part of his department after he slashed funding for key arts festivals. He came out defending himself, saying that festival organisers cannot expect to grow old with the government as their "mother and father and your everything" forever. "What about the new promoters? We are opening up the industry. Luckily for me I don't care what they write about me. That's why they cannot shame me into writing about me. I thrive from bad news," he said. He is currently facing criticism after DA MP Leah Potgieter recently raised alarm, stating the FIFA trip could amount to a R19.2 million expenditure. McKenzie has vigorously defended the inclusion of 20 fans and 20 artists on the trip to watch the World Cup, explaining that sport and music go hand in hand.

Can you now see that the xenophobic attack is government sponsored. I kept saying that , the government of south Africa is sponsoring their citizens to attack other black Africans and pretend like they know nothing about it. You can hear him saying "they must go". South Africa will pay for their sins and evil against their fellow black Africans , either now or later, but anytime soon. |

Pierocash:SA government is made up of several parties. Gayton's party (Patriotic Alliance) is notoriously anti-migration. Have you heard other parties speak like this?

The bigger truth is the whites want them to send away black brothers who are supposed shield them from their evil plots and plans. Apartheid is coming back in a more brutal way. Unfortunately, Nigeria won't be there as a big brother to help them in overcoming their white fellow South Africans. Then, they are going to reap whatever they showed. The days of mass bitter tears are coming. I wish, the xenophobic attackers themselves experience it and not their descendants. |

Exactly what i and my friends were discussing days back. But this time it would be different as SA would be standing alone because no other African would want to come to her aid given this recent xenophobic attacks Dreal1247: |

Ki RandDigital:There's a national consensus around anti-immigration sentiments in South Africa. Like I've argued before, it's not a cultural problem (an inherent hate of foreigners). The reasons are far more mundane - economics (the perception that foreigners are taking their jobs and opportunities) and the framing of crime as a foreigner problem. The few influential people who see the danger in what's going on can't speak out, because they will face repercussions. You can ask Julius Malema about this. And you can see how the arts minister is calling out the justice minister. Note that anti-immigration sentiments are common in all countries with high levels of immigration. It's why you had BreXit. It's why characters like Trump are in the White House. The South African flavour is the violence that attends the matter. I think the government could have prevented that by tightening border controls and deporting illegal residents. Of course, they will soon find out that sending the foreigners home doesn't solve their problems. This matter get bia bia. I hope it's resolved peacefully in the end. |

Pierocash:Of course you don't need spiritual eyes to see it. It is simple, the black SA government has failed woefully. Instead of accepting responsibility for their failures, they are stiring up gullible SAcans by distracting with the false narrative that the cause of their problems are immigrants. Same happened in UK, just when Farage and co realised that Brexist was a disaster, they had to create a scapegoat. US is doing the same, while the people are busy being distracted with the false idea that immigrants are the bane of their existence, their government is busy loothing the nation. In this present day, immigrants are the best distraction any failed government need to stay in power. ![]() |

Those the gods want to destroy, they first make m@d. The government and majority of the black SA support xenophobia. Go all to FB, Instagram and all, you will see young South African men supporting these barbaric acts. Very soon, they will be recolonized and no one will fight for them. |

Nigeria did Ghana must go years ago. South Africa is doing Africans must go today. Maybe soon, it will be religion must go. That's the only 'Must go' I can join. The book of Hypatia 5 : 1- 5 is really a eye-opener. Otem thank you for revealing the hidden works of great philosopher. Chapter FIVE 1. When Synesius came to me, saying, great woman, I admire your wisdom. Let me be one of your disciples, I said, you are welcome O Synesius. If you are willing to be my disciple, then make sure to be openminded and tolerant of me and other disciples like yourself. 2. For I have people of diverse religions as my disciples and they do not argue their beliefs in my court, rather, they argue philosophy and agree at the best. There are the Zoroastrians, the Manicheanists, the Jews, the pagans, the Confucianists, the Buddhists and the Christians like yourself, but they all comport themselves well. 3. Therefore be ready to do the same if you want to be my disciple. 4. When Synesius privately asked me what I felt about Christianity, I said, it is a religion: and as you know, all religions are tools for controlling people. But those who know how to control themselves do not have need of it. 5. I hypatia have been without religion for twenty years. I recognize that there are many deities, but I do not bow down my head for any of them. Yet, I am disciplined and decent in my dealings with other humans like me. 6. Therefore they who are wise do not need religion to be able to control themselves, rather, they need good philosophy to do such. But they who are below the expected level of wisdom need religion to do what is right and to shun what is wrong. 7. Therefore, a nation of many wise people will be less religious than a nation of many foolish people. And the irony of it is that such nation of less religious people will do greater things and have greater inventions than the other nation of more religious people. 8. This is so because the presence of religion brings limitation to critical thoughts. The goodnews is that the chief gods of surviving religions are already held captive in a spiritual cage, so religion is gradually folding up. Thanks to the universe.

Every African nation should face their countries and leave South Africa alone. I wonder how hard it can be... Africans too like attachments. Are you saying the rest of you can't survive without them?!! Stop embarrassing yourselves. Under normal circumstances, all their companies operating in other African nations should have been sent packing by now, but the rest of you can't seem to be ready to replace them. I would honestly love to see how South Africa thrives as a continental outcast. |

I told people that South African Government is sponsoring these mobs to attack Africans. Now the picture is getting clearer. Africa will reciprocate in time. I think we need to strip CAF presidency from them first, then ban them from every continental competition. |
