. Let him pluck few leaves of bitter leaf and few leaves of scent leaf. Wash them, Cut them into pieces and put the two in a container, boil clean water , pour into the bowl or cup and drink every morning for and initial one week and watch out for positive results

Diabetes is avoidable and reversible without medications.

If you are already sick, don't stop your medications. Continue with your medications while changing your lifestyle and diet.

The idea of lack of money being the reason for eating anything you see sounds foolish but I will take it as being born out of ignorance. You need to understand what diabetes is and how it's triggered to be able to help yourself. It doesn't need to be expensive but you may need to farm or grow some crops to make it easier or more affordable for you.

I won't have the time to go into long details but the summary of diabetes issue is sugar/carbohydrates. You need to reduce that as much as possible and for your friends case, it should be completely eliminated but I know financial constraint would make that difficult. But in the absence of that, he should embrace fibre and any affordable proteinous foods that he can reach. That could be beans, soya beans, eggs etc.
He should never lack vegetables at home. He should use vegetables with almost every kind of food he eats. He's no longer eating for enjoyment but to stay alive.

He should eat very small portions of food per time and most of it should be protein and vegetables with very little or no carbohydrates. The fibre from vegetables will help fill him. He should avoid eating more than 3 times a day and his last meal shouldn't be beyond 5pm. If he can adjust to 2 meals a day, that is better. The two meals should be lunch and dinner. His present condition may make that tough though. He should be eating whole foods, that is, avoid highly processed foods like bread, spargetti, indomie, custard etc.

Vegetables here will include cucumber (which they can grow at home), fluted pumpkin leaves, bitter leave etc. Cucumber should be his regular snack to fill him up especially if he feels hungry between meals. If he eats yam (very little of it), it should go with lots of vegetable like fluted pumpkin leaves sauce. Actually, cocoyam would be better than yam. So almost every meal should go with lots of vegetables either as sauce or snack in the case of cucumber.

If he can be diligent to do this, he should see improvement in no time and eventually reverse the diabetes.

My dad managed diabetes for almost three decades before his demise.
He is the longest living diabetes in my local community l have seen apart from ex president Obasanjo who has managed it for several decades.
Most ppl l know die within l0 years as soon as they diagnosed cos they go back to eating carbohydrates. Eba rice 🍚 🌾 bread and no money 💰 for insulin injections

My dad's major meal was BEANS BEANS BEANS ,everyday beans and more beans
Plain beans good for low sugar content and slow sugar response cos of the high fibre in beans & 50/50 carbohydrate:protein ratio.

Snacks time groundnuts( healthy fats) 🥜🥜🥜 and fish 🐟 🐠 🥩🍗
Once in a while if craving for swallow.
Not Eba but pounded plantain little quantity with fish 🐟🐠 meat 🍖🥓 vegetables occupying 80% of the meal wrt to the black plabtai n amala
And there was always money 💰 💰 💰 to buy the insulin injections which he took daily. We also had sugar stripes around to take body glucose reading at least thrice a week Diabetes na big man sickness.

Whatever my family is eating , there was always boiled beans for my diabetic father .
Even if we want to cook beans and Yam or plantain ,we always serve his own ordinary beans SEPERATE. And we had it in the house daily.
Even though he grew tired of it, but Wetin man go do.
If no money 💰 you can always help donate some basket of beans for your friend. And he should be disciplined to eat it exclusively.
With the insulin injections he should be fine and avoid diabetes complications.

Yes diabetes is reversible but such has to work for it. Also it can't be achieved with medication alone but with medication, natural remedies, change of lifestyle and consistent discipline life. Going into details may be difficult to achieve here.

They used to be very cheap and affordable for poor man until like that towards end of Buhari era as Garri just suddenly tripled, sardine jumped and prices of goods skyrocketed, insulin and diabetes treatment went over 500% increase. .
