Where you come in

We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help build and scale the data infrastructure that powers decision-making across Chowdeck.

You'll work closely with Product, Operations, Finance, and Engineering teams to design and maintain reliable data pipelines, improve data accessibility, and help build systems that support analytics, reporting, forecasting, and operational insights across the business.

We're looking for articulate people who are curious, empathetic, and kind and are looking to continue to grow their careers at a fast-growing tech startup that cares deeply about personal and professional development.

In this role, you'll be required to:

Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows
Improve the reliability, quality, and accessibility of data across the organization
Build and optimize data warehouse architecture and data models
Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Data teams to support reporting and analytics needs
Improve observability, monitoring, and governance practices across data systems
Optimize large-scale data processing and query performance
Support machine learning and experimentation workflows with reliable datasets and pipelines
Help define data engineering standards, tooling, and best practices

You're perfect for the role if you:

Have 6+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade data systems
Have advanced SQL skills and strong experience with Python or similar languages
Have experience working with modern data stack technologies and cloud platforms
Can design scalable and reliable ETL/ELT pipelines
Can think through operational and business problems using data-driven approaches
Care deeply about data quality, reliability, and performance
Can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Thrive in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities and ambiguity

Industry standards is what is generally acceptable in the market that is commensurate with the role.

As a senior data engineer, one should have to relocate if the company is serious. It can all be done remotely these days.

Funny enough, do you know that there is nothing like a pay that is "generally acceptable in the market?"
A medical doctor in Portugal earns only about 20% of what a medical doctor can earn in the Netherlands.
Also, a doctor in Massachusetts can earn far less than a doctor in Arizona. Also, a doctor working with a Private clinic in Arizona can earn 2 times what a doctor in the public service in the same Arizona can earn.

So, now I ask you, what do you mean by "industry standards"
Do you actually think there is anything that is a clear-cut pay that serves as a minimum for a country?
Do you expect a Senior Data Engineer in Nigeria to earn the same as a Senior Data Engineer in Johannesburg?

That's 4m per month.

Now that's a decent salary. That's the salary that can get you a car, pay your rent, afford you a retirement home in the country side and fund a vacation for you and your family.

Unfortunately, in Nigeria, we think salary is just for filling gas, buying rice and paying rent. No wonder the government is paying 70k and still gaslighting the populace.
