God forbid bad thing
I don't support them
For what reason will I? Haba

What I am saying is that if the rest of us who are victims begin to retaliate , there will be anarchy and the situation will turn to hit me I hit you situation rapidly degenerating into Rwanda debacle. So the govt should act and do something fast about the situation.

Of course I support your recommendation that everyone should be given the licence to bear arms to protect themselves until the highly dubious irresponsibly govt sit up and do their jobs.
The government will not do anything, states and communities must protect themselves, this has been going on for almost 12 years, there is a lot of compromise in this government...they release terrorists...you still wait for them?

Get your guns guys and get license.

The Government for herself.
The Citizens for herself.

Your Government is not coming to save you

As terrorists continue to attack communities across Nigeria, many youths of communities are beginning to take the bull by the horns to defend themselves because they no longer have hope on the government.

While nobody can blame people for wanting to stay alive, this trend could create a bigger security problem for Nigeria in the future.

The more communities arm themselves, the more weapons will spread across the country. The government may eventually defeat the terrorists, but how will it recover thousands of weapons already in circulation?

Some of these weapons could end up with kidnappers, armed robbers, political thugs, cult groups, and other criminals. Community defense groups formed today could also become rival armed groups tomorrow.

History has shown that it is much easier to stop insecurity from growing than to disarm people after they have acquired weapons and learned to depend on them for protection.

If government does not decisively tackle terrorism now, Nigeria may eventually face two problems instead of one: terrorists on one hand and widespread arms proliferation on the other.

A stitch in time saves nine.

.
Is anything bigger than what we have now

.
Recover the weapons to do what?
Some of these weapons could end up with kidnappers, armed robbers, political thugs, cult groups, and other criminals. Community defense groups formed today could also become rival armed groups tomorrow.
.
How is this worse than now that all the kidnappers have the weapons?
History has shown that it is much easier to stop insecurity from growing than to disarm people after they have acquired weapons and learned to depend on them for protection.
.
History shows that government is incompetent and only the private sector works
If government does not decisively tackle terrorism now, Nigeria may eventually face two problems instead of one: terrorists on one hand and widespread arms proliferation on the other.
.
An armed society is a polite society

when there's widespread arms you will see they'll be widespread peace
A stitch in time saves nine.
stitch that didn't stitch in 66 years, dey play

Which is better. You want people to fold their hands and watch terrorists kill, maim, rape and enslave them in their own land. Self defence is the only answer. Except you're a terrorist. . It looks like
you failed to understand my point.

If every Nigerian is armed you are in more danger from the wife that suspects you are cheating, your greedy workers, your jealous friend, your drug-addict neighbor or someone who just hate you for no reason. Reasons like this is what Americans kill for. We don't need proliferation of guns in the country. Like OP said, let the government be more proactive against bandits, kidnappers and terrorism so the need for self-defense is less.
The government can never be proactive against the terrorists, the terrorists are in the army, police and other armed forces. There's no difference between them now. Everyone should defend themselves first, after that, we will see what happens but for now, they must defend themselves or be killed like those that have gone before them. Government have shown they aren't willing to remove to he terrorists.

try to understand my point before raining insults. I am simply calling on government to act fast before guns full everywhere all in the name of self defense. We will be in more danger if everyone is armed. How will you survive a society where any small quarrel guns will appear.
