sonofthunder:You say people putting in the effort? What effort exactly, the effort of giving speeches, making promises, and announcing plans every now and then when they are questioned? The problem is that you have so long mistake rhetoric for results. Governance is measured by outcomes, not by endless declarations of what is being put in place, about to be put in place, or hoped to be put in place. If after years in office the reality on the ground is worsening environmental conditions, overflowing waste, and declining standards, then pointing to 'ongoing efforts' isn't a defence, it's an admission that the efforts are not working. And calling critics myopic doesn't change the facts. The truly myopic position is being so dazzled by public official like Wahab talking points that you confuse activity with achievement. judge leaders by results, not by press statements and future-tense promises. |

helinues:Shut up. While flood is natural, if it is caused by blocked drainage system and government inability to properly manage waste disposal... Then the commissioner has failed in his job, he should resign. Even if Lagos produces 20k tonnes daily, since the govt knows, they should put up modalities to tackle it and no complain about the number of tonnes... Complains don't fix issues.... MAKE THEM SHOE WORKINGS .. NO BE CHO CHO CHO. |

I walk twice a week along Coconut to Apapa in the evenings. Omo, e get spots wey be refuse and shit dump for those places. When it comes to dirt, omo we need reorientation. We blacks are too damn dirty. Infact, we are very comfortable throwing dirt anywhere as if there is an automatic system that removes it. Imagine if people hadn't started picking plastic and can bottles for recycling, how e for be? Calling him Chinedu was highly unnecessary. Anytime you hear a Yoruba man call anything named in Igbo or Igbo, it is usually not always good. |

On this one I agree with Gbadebo. Lagos seems to only respond to emergencies and are not able to put in place mechanism to continuous maintenance of schemes. That’s why you will see them ban okada and it will last for only 1 month before status quo returns……same with refuse, flooding or filthy streets. |
| Re: Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour & Tokunbo Wahab Clash Over Lagos Waste Disposal by sonofthunder: 7:24pm On Jun 21 |
Ofunaofu:So are you saying that they didn't dispose of the volume of waste they stated? Or that they have additional resources for more effective waste disposal lying dormant or what exactly? It's either you answer these questions correctly and understand my point or you remain a hypocrite. |

Martartins:Is Chinedu not his name again? He called him his official name and he went into a tantrum. Wow! Whatever made him do that is strong!!! |

erniok:People campaigned for a job , rigged themselves in Now you want others to profer solutions? If they have failed and can’t fix it let them step aside You people keep voting people with no solution then want people to suggest solutions ? Tell me would you allow a doctor that seeks suggestions about your illness online to treat you ? |

mrvitalis:This is a forum. A place discussions are had, solutions proffered. The forum is not affiliated to any political party. I commended what you did because when nairaland started, it was one of the things it was known for and I guess you shouldn't have any problem with that. |

HacheNoire:You really think waste management is insignificant? If you really know the dangers of inefficient waste management poses to the people, you will join GRV to call Wahab to wake up from his slumber and do the work he is paid to do, instead of travelling up and down wasting tax payers money. |
| Re: Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour & Tokunbo Wahab Clash Over Lagos Waste Disposal by HacheNoire: 8:39pm On Jun 21 |
bong4:Never said it was insignificant. My point is that, there are better punches Lagosians can resonate with. A lot! Many financial statement s that could be leaked out with less than 100 million Naira! Lagos has big loopholes I know! This oppositions are not game about grabbing power! They think it’s all talk! You need to go for LOUD critical jabs! |

ariesbull:Chinedu is ethnic slur? This is a confirmation that the Yoruba state of Lagos by it's very existence and excellence represents a psychological damage and self esteem damage to some people. This has been going on for over half a century, na war oooo. I am indeed blessed to be a lagosian. |

It's not a crime to tackle government when they failed. The truth is , the commissioner of environment and his principal failed in this regards irrespective. PUNCH gave a little exposure on this last week and we all decided to keep mum. The dumping site is failing up and Lagos govt need to address the situation first from there, former governor Ambode had seen the future but was trown out due to politics. We should be concerned about disease outbreak that may befall us in the city rather than two adult argue without solutions. |
