What then becomes of Hisbah the Sharia police operating in Muslim states, since the new law expressly forbids state police from applying religious bias in the work?
They will be integrated into state police

Lol. I am not expecting to see any of those negative and bitter folks on this thread.

Like their messiah Obi, bad news and negativity is all they live to focus on without having the class and maturity to minimally praise good developments from the PBAT Government when such is delivered. No
Boko haram, bandits and terrorists are still kidnapping people in nigeria, thousands of nigerians are still in IDP camp in their own country. How can some nigerians be refugees in their own country? It baffles da hell outta me.

Fear who no fear Tinubu. This man is really a political strategist. The pressure of insecurity was too much on him so he had to share the responsibility. So now state governors or the masses can't totally blame him for insecurities in their states. Checkmate
He simply copied US where he schooled. Over there cities also have police forces if they can pay for it, and policemen are usually from areas they police

Passing is not the issue but the implementation

The state governors have already been asking for more funds on a bill that's yet to be passed

They gave out their intentions early
that is the business of your state governor. Nigeria cannot afford to wait because of some useless governors. As a matter of fact is not compulsory that a state must set up it State police if the state doesn't have the resources to or prefer bandits than security.

My problem is with the State Governments, they might turn them to personal services
Exactly my thought. State Government might turn the state police to their political tools against opposition. Political oppression will likely grow.

State police is good and it should have clauses that most protect citizens from the governors ...however the rare of killings in this country is too much

so you get sense finally.

For me it’s a game orchestrated by your government. Deep down they don’t want this bill to see light of the day. By end of the day something must happen to disrupt it. At the end Tinubu will carry the praise for attempting to create state police but never happened.

If Tinubu want this bill implemented, he will see through it. Weather it means to release more funds.
In your attempt to attack the president, you ended up not making sense undecided

Why not call on the states house of assembly to expedite their own work on the bill but no, it's Tinubu you want to attack undecided

The governors already have more funds they've not been putting into good use in the last three years.

The governors already have unaccounted funds known as SECURITY VOTES that they've not put into good use.

Call your governors to wake up and start working.

That's exactly what is going to happen. Loyalty is exclusively to the state governors.

State policing has been in the public debate since before Obi became a governor Oga. Just like the cry for restructuring, this didn't start in 2025.

Have they not been using them from time immemorial? I've seen a video in which police were thumb printing on ballot papers serially inside a room. I've also seen where the police snatched ballot boxes.

I would say with the state police in place, everybody would recognise one another and to misbehave go dey scarce. Unlike when a dpo who aided crime or committed electoral fraud would be transferred to another state in order to skip justice. In the case of state police, he goes nowhere.

The country struggle because y'all point fingers at the federal forgetting states have the same.

States have judiciary, house of assembly that can checkmate their governors so start calling them to act and be responsible.
