Nigeria police force has debunked this video; they claimed the armed guys on bike are members of Vigilantes working in conjunction with state security officers to combat the insecurity challenge in the particularly Katsina state where the video was recorded.

Now we don't know if the police is telling a deliberate lie to calm the people or whether indeed those guys are vigilantes helping the state actors to combat terrorism.

Personally, I was wondering if Vigilantes/CJTF are allowed to carry the kind of weapons those guys on bikes carried. It looks as if they were carrying automatic weapons which bandits/terrorists have access to.

there is nothing the police could have done under the circumstances
much as i loathe police - this is simple arithmetic

what does one man with a gun do against 8 men with automatic weapons? now these look like 30 to 60 men. this is not an 80s movie with super soldiers. i was going to say a movie, but a lot of war movies today are much more grounded about basic tactical reality

we are seeing the reality up north. these are the ones collecting tax . between their governors, apologists like gumi , islamist culture, their desire for sharia, and their contempt for religious minorities and their celebration of fecundity - they have fked the north in particular and nigeria in general for the next decade or more, if we are lucky.

You are right, I've seen comments of people under the post tackling the police's debunking post. Some of the guns carried by the guys on bike, Nigeria police don't even have them.

Also, the voice in the background of the video suggests the police men were scared of the men on bike and referred to them as bandits.

Some of those guys even wore military camouflage.
