What's this one talking about! Do you know your economy and government policy in regards to petroleum at all? Government removed subsidy. Yes but government didn't raise pump price during the war, it was the petroleum/refinery operators that did which we all understood then due to Iran War but presently, it's the operator too that needs to bring the price down just as the international crude oil price has falling and still falling......the policy of government of deregulation has given individual to import fuel product into the country as long as you have the requirements and sell at your preferred rate that would be profitable to you.....its a free market now unlike before....thats why I was asking you if you know the government policy on petroleum.... Its very funny watching people asking the government to crash petrol prices. First, if you are running a business, would you, I repeat...WOULD YOU...let the government set your prices? Trying to keep fuel cheap is what landed us in the mess we have now. At the end of the day, we have issues with the economy and debt, and we lost four refineries, because not allowing fuel to be sold at a profit caused it If the government should come and start setting prices, just know that in ten years time, dangote refinery will be scrap, and we would be wasting billions of dolalrs importing fuel Welcome to the free market, baby. All I go say is, in 2012, you should not have stopped GEJ from removing subsidy. But most of you prefered to listen to lies about the economy because cheap fuel. Nothing like cheap anything. |

malali:The price of Crude oil has dropped further to Oil (Brent) 72.62USD per Barrel Oil (WTI) 69.50USD per Barrel as at today 25th June, 2026. Dangote Refinery should please do something, Nigerians are passing through hell. |

malali:USA...fuel prices vary from state to state. In addition to the cost of fuel, there is also taxes added on. Especially in California where fuel can be above 1.5 dollars per liter Iran,...they have a fuel subsidy in place...after you have bought a certain amount of fuel, then fuel subsidy is no longer in place. Also, Iran loses billions of dollars to massive smuggling in diesel and petrol to Pakistan. Iraq...small populaiton, produce more than NIgeria, can afford a subsidy Saudi...produces nearly ten times Nigeria fuel, has a population of less than 50 million, also can afford a subsidy. Nigeria..produces 1.5 million bpd, of which the revenue must be shared among 200 or more million people. Even when we were doing 2.4 million bpd, the now Emir of Kano was saying that it was not yielding enough revenue for Nigerians. If you want Nigeria to afford some sort of subsidy, ya got to make Nigeria be like the USA...a big time exporter of domestically manufactured goods and services, also we got to have an industry that can at the best domestically prodice everything needed in an oil rig and for oil refineries, and export them too, and a tax system that is colelcting at least 30% of GDP. Anything else is asking for debt, and wrekced refineries. Right now, for fuel to be at 200 naira per liter, we need to spend half our budget...for the pleasure of doing so. By the way, do you run a business? Would you tolerate government setting your selling prices low to help the poor people, when you know ya got goods at a higher rate? Welcome to reality. And yea, I don't like it at all...but I don't want us to end like Sri Lanka, who got so broke that they had to sell themselves as slaves to the IMF and china just to get chicken feed bailout money. |

nairalanda1:Is this what I referred to as the "mindset? Even with that, a good government should have influence on the sales of commodity such as fuel knowing fully well majority of the masses are poor and relies on such commodity. Anyway, I dont or have anything else to explain to you guys here as some of you are paid agent to defend government ill actions or crooks benefiting from the bad of the economy. So, whatever you believe in, stick to it no need to mention me again. Thanks as you reason well. |
