Lithiumite:The argument is not about demanding subsidy. It is about preventing concentrated market power from turning essential energy inputs into a squeeze point on society. Transport fuels sit at the base of nearly every productive layer, aviation, logistics, manufacturing, hospitality, so distortions ripple outward like a domino into the economy. Even in a fully liberalized pricing system, the missing piece is strong guardrails: transparent pricing mechanisms, anti-gouging enforcement during supply shocks, and regulatory oversight that prevents a small group of actors from capturing outsized margins at the expense of consumers and downstream industries. |

xxxx999jon:It depends on the necessity of the road. If it's very vital to the survival of our country then it should be built. But the existing roads between Lagos and Calabar are serving adequately so we don't need any coastal highway |

Pootle:People critized your lord and master fuel subsidy removal, why are you not selling fuel to them at 200/litter? You will stop them from using the road because they criticized it but force them to keep buying fuel at 1,400 despise the fact that they also criticized subsidy removal, make una continue. |

Nefort:Goods get moved from one part of the country to the other. The different parts of the nation produces something needed in other parts of the country. Have you read about cases of trailers falling on roads and killing people in their cars? So, I think roads are necessary, but shouldnt be the main priority. Stable electricity will definitely improve so many lives, especially the youths. It should be given prompt attention just like you said. |

| Re: Progress Update On The Calabar Section Of Lagos - Calabar Coastal Highway by Mrexcell(m): 6:24pm On Jun 25 |
The coastal road will only benefit nigerians that live within the axis where the road is located which might not even be up to 5% of the nigerian population so it shouldn't have been a priority for a govt whose population has been ranked as the poorest in the whole world. No sense in plunging a whooping $19b into such a coastal road project when majority of the suffering nigerian masses don't even have electricity to power their small businesses and industries. |

ryloy:Only those destined to be extreme poverty paupers forever will prioritise their meagre income and even borrow money to buy new things instead of repairing and maintaining what they already have. Do you see why we blacks are very poor and will remain so, IF we don’t get our priorities right ![]() By the way, how many pictures of these incomplete road projects are you using to pay for expensive petrol because Tinubu has failed to crash the price as he promised in January 2023 when it was just N185? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85dz0pwF6LA?si=CETnc4yAnOk4Dopw |

Nefort:Since he has done power supply, are you not concerned that he has failed to deliver N300/$1 in the short term despite saving billions of dollars from subsidy removal and borrowing $3.3 billion through opaque SPV future oil revenues, from Afreximbank at an alarming 11.85% arranged by Elumelu’s UBA? The loan was specifically to defend the Naira. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lba6Uf64Ogc?si=_p0eFODxCz5Xb4-l pendy79:

ArcSEMPECJ:So a sane mind are those who will open their eyes to vote a man without reasonable record as a former governor except tying down state revenue to start ogogoro business while doctors go on strike for 13 months If you vote a man with such record be informed that there will be no project in Nigeria cos he will use revenue to start ogogoro business in Bangladesh |

for the first time I see the reason this project is a must. the company handling the project belongs to the president himself (as said by people). this was what people said during governor Ibikunle Amosu tenure as governor of Ogun State. my issue with hi-tech is the only road awarded them in Abeokuta (during Amosus administration) is no longer motorable. this happened shortly after they finished construction. |

ArcSEMPECJ:Your comment shows maybe you've not been following mainstream news to get a genuine information regarding the deregulation of the power sector. In fact, there are few States that sign agreement with private sector to generate electricity for. 2 state in East and may be 2 in the West. |

Na bitterness oh. Concern for improvement from enemies of progress kwo. Reminds me of a group that I belonged to in the east( my secondary school) and a project that even I can complete in 6 months ( bungalow) since the money was ready. I introduced Mr Spyder880 our Nairaland contractor to them as a contractor na so them shout me down as ewu Yoruba. The fact that I suggested it must mean I don’t trust them see how them they reason. 6 years later they were giving update hardly anything done. These were directors of civil service, bank executives and board members and captains of industry self. Now they come like a lot of you complaining when they themselves are incompetent.
