I want to ask a question: Defamation is not a crime according to Lagos state laws but a civil wrong. However, in some states defamation remains a crime based on the criminal code and that's why some people will send police down to Lagos to arrest you and then have you detained in a state like Kwara where you will be prosecuted for defamation as a crime.

So, under this new state police system, won't people still use federal police to carry you from Lagos to Abuja to prosecute you for an offence that is not a crime under Lagos state law? Who will draw the lines between the jurisdiction of Federal police and state police?

With the security votes they have been blowing indiscriminately and whatever they can generate. The infrastructure the NPF has currently was built over 100yrs plus, We cant expect the state to have the same structures at inception, they will have to grow from zero and build capacity over the coming years but now they have a law backing them

It's not that simple. If you write the defamatory words or you publish it via social media and the people in different states access the defamatory content, it is assumed you committed the crime in any of the states.

For example if you write a newspaper article in Lagos and it is accessible to the person in Kwara state, he can actually have a ground for action against you.

So the question is : If the person decides to use federal police from Kwara state command to carry you like what Afe Babalola did to Dele Farotimi who is resident in Lagos, can Lagos state police foil the arrest attempt? Won't there be confrontation between the different police forces as regards who has jurisdiction?
