I recall when our National Anthem was adopted. At the time I figured it needed changing since we never stood in brother or sisterhood, and there was no peace and plenty, and man and woman were oppressed, and we have not been proud to serve a nation we never built. Hollow words, the old anthem sounded like for many like me pre- civilian war children as there was definitely nothing to count as gain that could have possibly been handed to us their children. In fact, watch them, at 80+, still trying to hold on to a Nigeria they have been the cause of not being blessed! So what Nigeria were we exactly hailing? Then, came Arise O Compatriots with its nice impressional dancy tune and what I saw as it's aspirational intent and something to work towards. I thought, Insha Allah Aleluya Jesu Christi God Sango Ogun Owala and all the Gods everywhere let us hear before my time is up so we can truly hail Nigeria, Amen. My time is not up, I am pleased to say, but the Gods have heard their peoples' cry I think, and happen to feel we are very ready to not only hear but are also very ready to invite with spirit and fulfil the words we've been singing for decades and Arise O Compatriots. But I might be wrong. I might be projecting my own feelings or be deluded or be telling myself lies. So if you feel you might not be ready to fulfil the words we've all at one time or the other been singing please quote the line you disagree with with your reasons, because, I think it is time to call on ourselves to obey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShqdHHUb5Fc Nigerian National Anthem Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria's call obey To serve our fatherland With love and strength and faith The labour of our heroes past Shall never be in vain To serve with heart and might One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity. Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause Guide our leader’s right Help our youth the truth to know In love and honesty to grow And living just and true Great lofty heights attain To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign. More than ready!!! |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by Freeze007(m): 8:03am On Nov 05, 2022 |
Well the old anthem is more like what we need...Nigeria we are proud to serve, though tribes and tongue may differ in Brotherhood we stand, Our motherland we are proud to serve..... who are the co-patriots? In this nation of what we presently see, who has obeyed Nigerias call? But, it could be an addendum to the first if at all, but, my SEER has spoke about us returning to the first anthem...I think I agree with him because He is so Practical in truth |

My dear aunty Budaa it is a given that Nigeria and Nigerians will definitely smile again ![]() The time for us to take back our country and livelihoods from the snake is NOW and we have someone to sit in the diving seat of the vehicle we are all travellers in 🤗 We are all ready to make this Nigeria that of which you once dreamt about don't allow them make you lose hope by their changing the anthem 😏 Even they themselves cannot sing it ![]() |

SeeWahala:Only ourselves can make ourselves lose hope in ourselves, just as only ourselves can make Nigeria that of which we dream about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_LmRcr8Mm4?si=7jAzJ_TdK9NW3txq |

So very true but about my previous request shall you be willing to grant if you could - I mean job? budaatum: |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by budaatum(op): 4:56pm On Jun 23 |
Freeze007:Job, no. Work that I want done, maybe. But you'd need to show you have the skills to do the work. For instance, I have a proposed project to introduce chess in a school in Lagos. Not being there, I'd need chess sets bought and taken to the school by someone who can teach or facilitate the teaching of chess. Certain skills are required to do this work, but you have not shown you have them so you are not being considered. What you must understand is that no one gives you a job because you need a job. You will be provided work by a person who needs a job done only if you have shown competence to do what they want done. And that is the reason that you should acquire skills, which I would willingly assist you with if you show seriousness, for which anything Olumba Olumba would be the opposite, note. |

Thank you for your honest input, yes, I am willing to be skillful if you can be my mentor to talk me through certain skills that you know aligns with your project... By the way do you have CD's from the 70/80's? There is a client willing to purchase them I just posted the mail sent in my feed budaatum: |

Freeze007:You really should be acquiring skills to be skillful for yourself, and not "if". And you should start from skills you already have that you can build on. So tell, what skills do you currently have and what skills do you intend to acquire. And no, I do not have "CD's from the 70/80's", as I've converted all I had to MP3s and given the CDs away. |

That's why I am asking for your mentorship to be very honest with you I can't think of a skill I have apart from being skilled at communicating and driving What skills do you suggest I learn? budaatum: |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by budaatum(op): 8:17pm On Jun 26 |
Freeze007:What do you currently do? What skills are easily learnt where you are? Which skills can you learn with minimum expense? You really need to access your self to know your Strengths and Weaknesses and Opportunities and Threats. |

At the moment I am farming, meagerly though Where I am fashion and designing but I know I may not be able to do that. As for the skills I would be happy to learn cyber security At the moment my challenge is a laptop and knowing where to learn this, though, I live in the village (rural area) budaatum: |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by budaatum(op): 12:00am On Jul 01 |
Freeze007:Why would you not be able to learn fashion and design? Do you perhaps subscribe to casualobserver's theory that one can't learn what one sets one's heart to? Do a Gemini search for "learning cybersecurity" and tell me which of the steps you have already taken. What do you farm? |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by casualobserver: 1:44am On Jul 01*. Modified: 2:18am On Jul 01 |
budaatum:Correction: that’s not what I said. What I said is that just because you have the desire/dream to be something does not mean you have the talent, opportunity or intangible qualities (eg luck, personality, location, contacts etc) required to fulfill that dream. As such this idea put forward by floozies that you can be anything you want is largely a selling falsehoods based on using examples of exceptions as the rule. Basically because you have an ambition does not mean the universe and your unique circumstance/probabilities favour a successful outcome. In such circumstances, those telling you that you can be anything you want are not helping you. |

| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by budaatum(op): 12:16pm On Jul 01 |
casualobserver:And no one said dreaming is talent and or opportunity or even ambition, but that does not mean one should not aspire to try to improve one's self and lot! You might not achieve what you aspire to be but I'm certain you'd be better of for trying than not trying at all. |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by casualobserver: 12:27pm On Jul 01 |
budaatum:My comments in this thread are specifically about the BS line: “you can be anything you want”. It may be said with encouragement and good intent but it is a blatant lie for 99% of the population. More realistic is “you are free to embark on any path/ endeavors you wish, but there is no guarantee of success or happiness” That brings a reality check and causes the person to ask themselves if this is actually the best path as opposed to leading people astray Pie in the sky dreams. By using the word “can” you are subconsciously assuring them of success even if that path is not for them. If you recognize someone has the potential in a specific area, you can say “you can be a great actor, lawyer teacher politician” etc but nobody “can” be “anything they want” in any field. |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by budaatum(op): 1:35pm On Jul 01 |
casualobserver:Dude please, no one is stupid enough to believe anyone can be the first lady, since that position is limited in availability! And that's apart from it being a silly thing to want to be instead of president, which could simply be of your own company. And even that is not guaranteed, as there is indeed "no guarantee of success or happiness”. You may want to go live on the moon, for instance, but without the right resources and opportunities and abilities and effort you'd very likely remain on earth. The fact remains that aspiration and effort for realistic goals would likely move one closer than not aspiring at all, and the "want" in the phrase " you can be anything you want" does imply opportunities and abilities and effort, unless you think it means sit on one's ass and expect it from the gods in the heavens. Do note that I am not telling Freeze007 that he can be anything he wants to be, since it seems his opportunities are limited. I've even asked him to identify his SWOTs to enable him to set himself realistic goals and aspirations. In this harsh world we live in you can not even eat whatever you want unless you are prepared to work for it! And even after working very hard for it, you might need to settle for half of what you want, but that would still be much better than having no goals and putting in no effort at all. |

Palm fruits, I must be real open to you, I doubt I would be able to learn fashion and designing that is becoming a tailor I don't have Gemini but I would look it up. I think what I learn is a COUNTERFEIT but what is innert in me is pure gold unfortunately I don't think I know my strength this is why I need you to be my mentor budaatum: |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by budaatum(op): 4:34pm On Jul 02 |
Freeze007:I said Gemini, but perhaps should have said Google AI. Freeze! You need to be able to research stuff, and the internet makes that easy! So tell, why would you not be able to .......? Note how I left out the end of that sentence. It's because, in my mind it's not only "fashion and designing and tailor" I'm hearing you are not able to, but everything, including cybersecurity! Palm fruits, you say. I grew that, and planted lots of bitterleaf between, but kabiyesi has appropriated my land. What state are you in? |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by Freeze007(m): 7:29pm On Jul 03 |
Akwa Ibom State, I find myself flickering here and there, loads of opportunities but the one thing to be my favourite is where I am finding hard choosing However I have this interest to practice as a Safety Professional if I have my way I would like to do the Nebosh certification and apply to work in the UK if that sounds tenable Oh I am sorry for your land been grabbed, are you subsistent farmer or commercial? budaatum: |

RedpillAdviser:Hello bro. I understand your situation and i share in your pains. I was in your situations years back and know how it feels. It's very very hard coming out of poverty. Someone will just keep rolling in it with no way out in sight. Honestly, i don know what i can recommend for you because if i know it, i would have suggested it to my brother too. He is depressed and i am kind of helpless solving his situation. I don't really know how i can be of help bro because my paths are not your paths tbh |
| Re: Are We Ready Yet? by budaatum(op): 9:26pm On Jul 03 |
Freeze007:I was subsistent. 10 acres of oranges, palm, cocoa and kola nut trees. Cassava, maize, and bitterleaf which was my commercial. Kabiyesi sent caterpillar and bulldozed like 100 hectares of farm land. Now, only my house of 2 rooms stands right there in the middle of all this land that was the basket of the Orolu Kingdom like the Nile was to Egypt. Now women eating my palm oil are murdered and school fees are requiring alternative sourcing. The stupidity pains me too much! I got a call last night. Person on the phone said, "10 years ago I told you I wanted to travel out of Nigeria, and you asked me if I've ever been outside Nigeria, and I said no. So you drove us to Seme Border and we walked across into the Republic of Benin, and you said, "now you've travelled out of Nigeria". "Every journey must start with a first step or one would go no where", you said, and we went to a beach on Badagry Road where you sat and read and drank Guinness for hours while I played with sand", the person on the phone told me on a call from Canada. If I "had my way" I'd fly like superwoman and batwoman and spiderwoman and the Angel Gabriella too. Please explain to me how you have exercised the interest that you say you have. |

casualobserver:I think you speak of your own "potential in a specific area" and know nothing of my own "potential in a specific area" and think it is like your own. For starts, I do not go about recognising anyone's "potential in a specific area", because I do not have a "potential in a specific area" meter to measure that of anybody. I was a maths teacher, see, and don't look for maths potential in my students, but teach them to acquire a talent for maths instead. I went on to manage people, and don't just look for their "potential in a specific area", but challenge people to learn about and acquire the potentials in areas they know not about. Grandchildren are coming for summer. Neither they or I have any potential in any area of penny whistling, nor interest for that matter, but we have the potential to practise for 15 minutes ever day while they here. I will update how we get on. |

emmaodet:While paths differ, my advice would be to deploy those marketing skills into areas where there is a demand for their products and/or services. If it requires changing location, do it. A man has to face his worst fears. I faced mine by hiring a math tutor to teach me secondary school level mathematics, but abroad scholarship came calling. Fine, I had parental support, but he has to do (legally) what he has to do. cc: RedpillAdviser Go into sales. Aside from quantitative career paths, sales offers the next opportunity to make a lot of money within a short time. Learning quant/math skills at age 30, then applying them to earn a good income, would take a much longer time. Also, you get to raise your capital, and most importantly, know how to sell. At the end of the day, you need to sell to make money. If a nephew from one of Nigeria's richest families could go into local trading, anyone can and should. |

Although I am graduate with honors in Water Resources Engineering I didn't think practicing that was interesting to me, so, when I was opportuned to learn Safety under Dorman Long Engineering with an Umbrella Organization being OSHA, I found it quite interesting and told myself it's something I like to do, the culture, the drill, the professionalism in thinking about Safety in every work force made my curiousity even more, I know Standards about Safety is considerably represented abroad I picked UK because I have been, I even have a daughter though we have not been in contact since 2021 when we did a video call- I would be happy to connect and not be seen as a dead beat. I am sorry for loosing your farmland and resources, obviously I am sure that land employed some village women I am happy your house was not bulldoze, still using your professional advise would help me budaatum: |
