casualobserver:But I can bet you top dollar that those who try are much better off for trying than those who don't. Take ones children, mine or yours. We will not only tell them they can be anything they want, we'd hopefully support them and train them and educate them too, and I bet they'd be better off for it than if we didn't, or do you disagree? But know that 1st lady is not so much an achievement, as far as I am concerned. I'd rather train my own daughters to be president. They might not be presidents of a nation, but they just might end up as the CEO of a multi billion dollar company, which is close enough. Society will train you and your children to be slaves. Our Nigerian society will even teach you to be stupid, or what do you think is being done by convincing you that naked enslaved Adam is the Image of God, when it's obvious their job descriptions and pay and reward differ immensely? I would strongly suggest you not let society determine your achievements, much less that of your offspring. Strive to be the best you can be, and empower yours to do likewise. You and they might not get to the summit, but you would likely rise higher than those who don't bother. For your information, every woman who has ever risen to rule a nation had children and a husband beside her, so your "most women who chase careers end up childless or single mothers" is false. |

Flangelo12:Common sense is far from you ...Of course you are an APC supporter so we can relate... You asked a very silly question... Please tell us how many of your family members are akara vendors... Their own children school abroad only to come back to lead mindless people like you by the nose while they are telling you supporters that you and your children can only aspire to be akara sellers... You should pause and weep for yourselves... |

politicoNG:What does it mean to "aspire to be first lady like her"? First lady simply means you are the President's wife. Whats there to aspire to in being somebody's wife? If we want to go think that high, how about aspiring to the office of President? But the reality is that not everyone can be president or governor or minister. Not too many will make it to be doctor, lawyer, banker, or other professional professions. Not many will be successful big time business moguls. The majority will still survive on the bare minimum level and that's the harsh reality of life. |

sacajawea:Yes I did. And not only him but the first lady who should be fighting for women to be Nigerian president but is empowering to sell akara like that is what she wishes for her own daughters. That said, my emotions from another thread spilled over to here. https://punchng.com/remi-tinubu-faces-backlash-over-akara-roasted-corn-remarks/ |

budaatum:You are someone who clearly revels in self delusion. You are entitled to that but stop deceiving people. This you can be anything you want is the kind of thing that messes up the lives of young people. 99% of the time, they don’t have what it takes to become what they want. Their lives would be much better if they were guided towards where their true gifts are and be as good as they can be. I will just touch on the last bit of your post. Even those high flying women who have families, you have no idea the price their children and family pay for their success because clearly you have never been in that environment. There is a woman who made a fortune selling Amala. It is better to be the best or a good Akara seller that to be deceived you have what it takes to be a Hollywood actress or an Afribeat singer if you have no talent. You clearly live a world of deceit where you tell an ugly girl she is a queen and “beautiful” when she clearly isn’t. Unfortunately she will believe it and have aspirations beyond her aesthetic blessings but the world will ultimately let her know at great cost that she isn’t as aesthetically gifted as what she has be led to believe she is. Only a fool trains his daughter to be president. Those are things that happen by chance. A good father trains his daughter to have good values and character. That daughter will have a better life that the daughter obsessed with becoming president. It’s one thing to encourage your daughter to be a lawyer if she has a talent for it but that she will rise to the apex and become a chief judge or a SAN is another thing. Life will eventually bring the deluded down to earth. |

casualobserver:So, you think I tell people they can be whatever they want to be but they don't need to work for it? But it's that bold that got me. In UK in the 70s, black kids were guided to be nurses and bus drivers and postmen by people who saw that to be the "true gifts" of black people, to the extent that a black child who aspired to be a doctor or a lawyer or accountant was told that was not their gift. casualobserver:Because I am not a high flying woman with a wonderful family with children who are flying high like me? casualobserver:I hope it's also okay to go to school and get an education and be the best lawyer or accountant or doctor or AI specialist too, even if one does not make millions doing so. I mean, it might beat "Hollywood actress or an Afribeat singer", especially if you have no talent to be "Hollywood actress or an Afribeat singer", since the talent for what I propose is dedication and study. casualobserver:Actually, I tell all girls that they are queens in their own right, and I tell all young people that they should develop their minds. Their beauty or lack off is irrelevant to me, since that's not what's going to feed them. casualobserver:I get you. You leave your life to chance. I don't. A good parent trains their children to be morally upright, yes, but they also ought to train their children to earn a living is what I think. If I train my daughter to be a president or a chief judge, which would be odd to be honest, even if she does not achieve those goals and only gets half way, she'd be a lot better off than if I did not bother and left it to chance. But for your information, I've trained my children to have skills that will earn them incomes so they can feed themselves and their own and that they can build on. Apex is for them to determine. They are now training their own children. casualobserver:And the foolish and the ignorant too. |

Proudlyngwa:SAME THING I'M WONDERING, PLEASE, MY BROTHER. HOW DOES A WOMAN ''ASPIRE TO BE THE FIRST LADY''? SO SHE WOULD BE GOING AROUND LOOKING FOR MEN TO HOOK UP WITH WHO STAND A CHANCE OF BEING PRESIDENT? IS THIS WHAT RUFAI IS ADVOCATING? HONESTLY, THIS GUY IS NOT OKAY. HE HAS ISSUES. |

budaatum:I didn’t read your post. I have said what I have to say. Disagree or agree that’s your problem. I post or respond on Nairaland for the benefit of the silent wider audience. My point has been made, I am not interested in engaging in meaningless back and forth with you. In yoruba we say Abo oro l’on so fun omoluabi. The white main says a word is enough for the wise. Further engagement is pointless. Have a good day! |

I read your post. And I do engage in back and forth because unlike you I have respect for the views of others even when I disagree with them. I'm also aware you are not the only one here, and that others will read our posts and make up their own minds what to think. You have a good day too. casualobserver: |
