Oh, they've been going after them. Trust me, even Fulani women and kids have sometimes collected, especially in that Benue State. You see that Middle Belt? It's the utter Wild West. It's just that attacks against Fulani rarely make it into the media.

Sometimes, i want to believe that those fulanis causing all the havoc are not under the herders. This is because the herders are suffering the activities of these criminal fulanis by rustling their cattle. On the other hand, because what happened in Igboho, I became suspicious of their involvement. After Sunday Igboho warned fulani leaders in his town, the following day, all the captives from Igboho village were released.
I don't really know what to believe.

Tell that to the thousands of Benue women and children who have been murdered in their beds by the same 'herders'

For a confirmed terrorist, that argument can be made (not saying I'd agree, but I'd get it).

However, this guy is not a confirmed bandit. He leads a registered organisation that sometimes sits down to talk with the government. Some of its members have become bandits and done unimaginably horrible things to people. That robs off on the group, but it doesn't make all its members guilty. You can accuse the leadership of Miyetti of being insensitive in their rhetorics, but everyone "mis-yarns" sometimes.

I think bullets and handcuffs are the only way to deal with these bandits. But it appears the Nigerian state is too weak to do it, so they try to talk to whoever will talk. This makes that harder for them.

Edit: To be clear, I'm opposed to ALL negotiations and "peace meetings" with terrorists/bandits. Because it's a waste of time. But whoever is weak or dumb enough to call a "meeting" has set up themselves for the responsibilities that go with that.

This is really saddening, how to you kill a fellow on a peace mission as alleged in the Op submission.
I in particular, I am still in shock and disbelief that this happened within Okwudu general area of Ugboju district Oturkpo L G A !!
Over the years, the people within that axis have had excellent relationships with the Fulani, despite the security challenges bedeviling the entire Benue valley.
