Never keep a solar battery indoor. Every solar battery should have a temperature sensor or regulator, so when above advisable limit. It's shuts the system to safety.

Will that do anything against a lithium fire....doubt that. The better option is to get a large cooking pot, fill it with water to boil using the fire to make semo for the whole estate.... At least everything is not lost.

Some shopping centres will not allow solar battery businesses specifically for this reason.

You can imagine if this chap was not at home when the stuff went up. He will be sorting through an ash pile by now.

Those small lithium batteries should not be used for inverters cos they are more likely to bridged the circuit connection.

This is most likely the cause of the fire in that building in Lagos..🤔🤔

I think most of these outbreak of fire are caused by owners using electricians to install solar instead of using solar trained installers or maybe using cheap materials but whichever ways,care should be taken during installation of solar panels system.

Install your inverter and battery in a well ventilated or cool place, install it properly by engaging knowledgeable and experience inverter installer,avoid overcharging and use genuine materials or accessories.

Poor battery fabrication.
Assembling different kinds of batteries without proper checking of their mAh is one the cause of this problem

The solar battery was tampered with before it was sold to the owner. I've seen this before. A guy bought a solar battery and same thing happened. After due investigation we discovered it's a second hand batter( already worked on).
Thank God were very fast to take it out side....stay safe

He said it himself that they convert Lithium battery one by one. Don't purchase solar system from someone who has not installed solar system for perhaps over a 100 people. Don't buy locally made solar materials. Don't give 20k to someone to install for 2 hours if an experienced person ask for 100k, go for 100k and listen to their advice. If they ask for big wires costing say 100k, don't use small wire of 50k to save money, also buy everything they ask you even if others use it well without.

Chemical extinguisher I don't think can do much for such a battery that is about to explode. I just hope this scenario doesn't occur in a closed space. The explosion would be unimaginable considering the fact there may be many of them stacked together.
