Why suffer the student by asking him/her to draw again? This drawing deserves some recognition. Is there any missing parts in the drawing? Of course not. Why is the teacher just being unreasonable and unappreciative of the child's talent?

I would call his parents to the fact that Nigeria's Educational curriculum will be of benefit to the child (for now). I would take interested in such a child. He could have drawn a straightened structure of that skeleton, but no matter how immature the structure looks it's a statement. And he was correct in the labeling.

For me, it's a good art work... But since this is a subject (Biology), the student should follow the rules, otherwise, I would instruct him to redo it

I would ask the student to redraw it but first complement him for being innovative and say I would cherish and keep it personally.

However, I would also explain that it would be a huge uphill task for him to go against the status quo and it would be unfair to him as his teacher to let him go face those institutional walls when he is yet to become a pillar himself.

If the assignment or question was to draw a skeleton with no specifics attached, it is a welcome development. The skeleton of this nature captures most of the aspects of lessons being support and varying movement in the body which can easily be seen from the diagram

While I love the student's enthusiasm, this isn't fine art so they won't get extra marks. However, I would take special note of this student to give them a little more attention to nurture whatever ambition they are nursing.

How did I kill talent? You won't see were I said I appreciate his art but only criticized the timing and "appropriateness" to the circumstance of being a science class and even made a joke about the dancing skeleton meaning I liked it.

Science and art are two different things and have completely different expressions.

Innovation is the key to present day success.
Inasmuch that all the components you are looking for in the skeleton is there, no cause for alarm.
Children of these days see things differently as the way we see it in those days either positive or negative.
That's creative anyway.

I would give him the highest marks. He has done what he was supposed to do ... draw and label the parts of the skeleton. Even if he was not the only one ... here's my reason. The space is limited ... he drew a larger scale of the skeleton than makes labeling the parts easier and easier to distinguish. To fit the entire skeleton in a standing or laying position the drawing has to be on a much smaller scale ... and parts difficult to identify.

Note: ... creativity recognized ... but no marks for that. Whatever his academic pursuit ... I see him having a bright future as an artist because he naturally has that gift and more importantly... hisncreative ability.... he will not be one to be putting out the "normal artworks _ ... he will be giving us from different perspectives... like he did with the skeleton in this.

I will give the student full marks if it's their first time and the labeling is correct.

However, I will advise them to always follow instructions so they don't get into trouble someday.

The same student could be instructed to answer any four questions out of six in an exam, but because they think they know better, they might answer all six instead.
