Devices are coming with large storage spaces and memory card seem to be not needed anymore. Hardly these days you come across devices with low storage making extra memory a thing of the past. Do you still use memory card on your device?

I used to be a fan of memory card until it stopped working on my phone back then. All memories lost. All music gone. Since then, I will rather buy a phone with enough memory than settle for memory card. |

PlsBanMe:I used to be a fan of cloud storage until one day it said, "Storage full. Upgrade to continue backing up." My memories suddenly came with a monthly rent. Since then, I'd rather buy a phone with enough memory than pay a subscription just to keep my own photos. You end up paying indefinitely to keep your own photos. Old school never loses. Protect your memories. I hear Gen Z is now buying discs sef 💿 📀 ![]()

Memory card has high chance of getting corrupted or damaged, it's expensive out there and phones now come with enough storage. for those complaining about cloud, try using telegram to store your files |

The problem with this storage is that it tends to corrupt files or the system |

They’re still needed but almost ‘gone’. We have some CCTV cameras that still use them. |

PlsBanMe:you have to buy ORIGINAL sd or micro SD cards i had the same experience years ago when i was buying team sd cards. they would suddenly go read only after a few weeks if you buy original sandisk or samsung sd cards they will last a very very very long time for oldies who dont really take pictures, your 128gb phone may be ok. but once you are a person who takes a lot of pictures and videos, yoiu will run out of phone storage within 6 to 9 months unless you have a 256 to 512 gb device. |

Honestly, there are advantages and disadvantages . I won’t forget the day I was robbed of my phone on my way home around 12 midnight due to traffic. Then, I was working on the Island and go home to Ajegunle every day. It was very stressful o make I nor lie ( From Ikoyi to Orege). Na so some paddy them accost me o, show me pumpi, show me longi, come still carry lebe join. I gats submit my kaya o. The one luck I get na say I speak small lamba give them, na so dem comot my memory card give me phone back o, unto say I let the Aruba dem them know say the downtown M.C wey dey inside na my own, around 16GB, but the phone na company property , say make dem consider their mainboy abeg. Na so dem take fashi me o, even give me my raaba back. But if to say no M.C to collect, na to tell company phone bye bye o. O tilo niyen and na one kain one-man company. I dey sure say Oga go even arrest me join “ FOR LOSING COMPANY’s PROPERTY “ Also , external M.C can act as extra storage to save important files, in case of loss, theft, virus etc. |

I hate memory cards with a passion They can easily fail anytime without any warning signs The worst are those that will be 4GB but you cannot even store beyond 512MB of files on it |

| Re: Are Memory Cards Now Old Fashioned? by masterfactor(m): 3:53pm On Jun 29 |
Memory card is still the best. Just get yourself a very good one from a reputable brand, the rest they say is history. I know how many files I have lost due to inbuilt as storage. Phone might get bad or stolen and when that happens, all your file is gone |

| Re: Are Memory Cards Now Old Fashioned? by omoadeleye(m): 4:21pm On Jun 29 |
Memory cards do slow phones and get corrupted on time, so most phones are doing away from them while expanding their memory size and also providing cloud storage So no point of memory card to your phone again |

Memory cards are worthless. They don’t have long shelf lives. Two years or inactivity and all your memory is gone. Thank God I was never a fan. |

Most phone nowadays don't come with removable storage because big Tech wants to have more control over you and the data you own. |
| Re: Are Memory Cards Now Old Fashioned? by GloriousGbola: 4:44pm On Jun 29 |
eepeepook:Those are fake cards chief. A genuine card has a long shelf life, though it is advisable to plug in once in a while. Most data loss or failure is from cheap or low quality devices |
