Insecurity: ‘he’s Done His Bit,’ Adeboye Defends Tinubu by treesun(op): 3:55pm On Jun 29
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticism over worsening insecurity, saying the president has fulfilled his responsibility by issuing directives to the military.

Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington on June 23, Adeboye said those blaming Tinubu for the country’s security challenges were unfair in their assessment of the president’s role as commander-in-chief.

“I need to make this one clear: I don’t support those who are accusing the president of not doing enough. When the commander-in-chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki and (fight),” Adeboye said.

Drawing a comparison with the United States, he added: “When my friend Trump gives instructions to go and bomb anywhere, he doesn’t leave the White House. He has done his bit. ‘I hereby command, bomb Iran’, and then he goes to his bedroom and sleeps. The rest is left to the supporters.”

Despite defending the president, Adeboye acknowledged that insecurity had deteriorated and spread to parts of southern Nigeria.

“Things have gone far, far worse than before the bomb came,” he said, referring to the US bombing of Islamist terrorists last December.

“Far, far worse… so bad that they are asking: ‘Where is your God?’ That is how bad it is. The terrorism, kidnapping, and so on that were in the north are now even at my doorstep. They have come all the way down to the south. And, of course, the sponsors — they are all known, and they are still moving about freely.”
2
The cleric disclosed that he had discussed the country’s security situation with President Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, urging the president to issue a firm directive to the nation’s security chiefs.

According to him, he advised the president to give military commanders a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorism or resign.

“I told him to tell all the military boys, all the army, navy and air force: ‘You have 90 days. Wipe out this rubbish or resign.’ And then take care of the supporters, the sponsors,” he said.

Adeboye described the sponsors of terrorism as influential and wealthy individuals, including politicians and businesspeople, insisting that tackling them was crucial to ending the violence.

He also called on the United States to collaborate with other countries in supporting Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism.

Kings and leaders lead by example.

We have tales of Kings and leaders in the bible who were in forefront of wars and battles.

If as a leader you give directives to people you appoint and they do not carry out your orders, that shows you lack capacity and respect from those who work for you.

Papa Adeboye really needs to sit this out. You can't say Tinubu has done his best while at the same time, admitting that sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria are known and are moving about freely. He has indirectly indicted the president for complicity in not having terrorist sponsors arrested.

Besides, why didn't Adeboye apply the same logic to Jonathan? He was openly and loudly critical of Jonathan but is making excuses for Tinubu. I hate bigots in any form. Adeboye is a huge disappointment.

I pity anyone who takes these creatures who call themselves men of God seriously.

I keep telling people, that is the end game for bat. He is only interested in state police to the extent that he can hide his incompetence by telling people to hold their governors accountable.

I remember when I was a soldier. There needs to be a ban on religions and politics. Whether it's a pastor or Imam, they should be banned from talking about politics. Also, they must ban religious houses from giving politicians their podium to use. Therefore, I hereby declare that none of the presidential candidates be allowed to talk about religion and tribe for 2027 elections. Those in favour say AYE

I Sought Pastor Adeboye's Consent Before Going For Vice Presidential Seat

2015 Jan 5
The Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (ACP), Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has expressed optimism that his party, if given an opportunity to govern Nigeria, would bring the needed change at a period that "the entire nation is tired of the state of things".

Professor Osinbajo, who is also a pastor, said that the state of the nation had presented the APC with a chance that had never been, saying "it is the best that has ever been".

Giving his political aspirations, his party's manifesto and how it would be achieved, the Professor said that there was no difference in the roles that he played as a pastor, professor and politician.

"The reason I function as a pastor is essentially because I want to touch the lives of as many people as possible with the love of Jesus Christ and we must, in every situation we find ourselves, be able to help the poor, be able to help those who can't help themselves and stand up for justice.

"I will do same as a political leader. All of these roles must be played in the same way and with the same motivation. As far as I am concerned, it is all the same," he said.

There have been claims that the presidential candidate of the APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, is a religious fundamentalist, but Professor Osinbajo dismissed the assertions, saying that "General Buhari is a very credible individual that does what he says".

In February 2015, President Goodluck Jonathan flew directly into the conflict zone, visiting newly recaptured territories like Mubi in Adamawa and Baga in Borno state. He walked the ground, met face-to- face with frontline troops, and assessed the physical devastation caused by Boko Haram. This move was not just a symbolic photo-OP, it was a necessary command function to boost collapsing military morale, verify that massive defense spending on new weaponry was reaching the theater, and publicly signals that the state would not abandon its field forces.

Similarly, President Muhammadu Buhari, a former military general, bypassed safer venues and moved the 2018 Chief of Army Staff's annual conference directly to Maiduguri-the epicentre of the insurgency-immediately following the catastrophic military defeat at Metele. Buhari returned to the Maiduguri frontlines again in June 2021 to personally look into the eyes of wounded soldiers in military hospitals and issue strict counter-offensive directives on the ground. These actions demonstrate that the public does not demand a president literally pick up a rifle and shoot; rather, they demand the physical oversight, accountability, and moral solidarity that Jonathan and Buhari demonstrated, which completely invalidates the idea that a leader can just issue an instruction from Abuja and "go to sleep." He is the Commander in Chief of the Armed forces for a reason.

During significant precision operations, U.S. commanders- in-chief traditionally monitor live tactical progress in real- time alongside national security teams. Historical precedents demonstrate this intensive oversight, such as the Obama administration tracking the Abbottabad raid from the White House Situation Room, or the first Trump administration closely monitoring the January 2020 targeted strike on Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. These high-risk military procedures demand continuous presidential availability for immediate, escalating decision-making on the ground, making passive executive detachment highly rare during active operations.

The historical record completely disproves the notion that American presidents simply issue orders from the comfort of the White House and ignore the reality on the ground. Much like the frontline leadership seen in Nigeria, U.S. Commanders-in-Chief have repeatedly bypassed safety protocols to stand directly in active war zones with their troops.

1. George W. Bush (Iraq, 2003): In a tightly guarded, covert operation shrouded in absolute secrecy, President Bush boarded Air Force One and flew directly into an active Baghdad International Airport. He spent Thanksgiving on the ground serving meals, looking into the eyes of frontline soldiers, and delivering a personal wartime address to over 600 troops.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9we7Yx-z8C0

2. Barack Obama (Afghanistan, 2010):
President Obama slipped out of Washington unannounced, flying in total darkness with the window shades drawn to land directly at Bagram Air Base. He bypassed safe diplomatic channels to stand in a military hangar, directly greeting, thanking, and shaking the hands of thousands of deployed troops enduring a grueling counter-insurgency campaign.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FQnc_LE3wM

3. Donald Trump (Iraq, 2018): President Trump and the First Lady flew under strict military jet escort directly into Al Asad Air Base. Trump spent several hours on the ground in Iraq, meeting directly with combat generals, signing autographs, and personally thanking troops for the physical dismantling of the ISIS territorial caliphate. I should add that Donald Trump also provides us with updates on operations. Even in the Iran war that he has ended many times, he lets us know what is going on.
