Time it started looking that way. Same for most other African countries...DR Congo has all the minerals needed to make a good decent phone...so why isn't it making Android type phones..? Because we think that we should share money, not make things.

Not all of them, but the Arab countries that do it are

1. Have populations less than 20 million, some less than 10 million

2. Produce more oil than does Nigeria...

Kuwait produces about 2.5 million bpd for about 5 million people. UAE produces about 2.4-3 million bpd for less than 20 million people, for example. Saudi, produces about 10 million bpd for about 40 million people.

That's how they can afford it, compared to Nigeria that produces 1.5 million bpd and yields a revenue that some 230 million people are supposed to share.

SOuth Africa and Nigeria have a better chance, because we both have natural resources, and we can use those natural resources to make products the world needs...which would MAKE US FAR RICHER than any Ayrab nation.

The problem is, we don't want to do that.

BY the way, I always feel uncomfortable with the idea that foreigners should come in and do your work.

UAE now, 12% OFthe population are natives, the rest foreigners. That has implications for national security, among other things.

Basic income grant has been a discussion in SA for years and is well on its way to implementation. Already there's a grant that started during covid lockdown that's still being paid out to millions of poor people.
