I hope the people returning won't add to our already precarious security situation. I sympathise with them, especially those doing legitimate business or work in SA. However, some of them could have been into shady dealings there and would easily take up arms here, with the lapses in security framework we are suffering today

It's not a country but a xenophobic land.

The problem with nigerians is that they lack global awareness. If you are onlu just knowing about SA and how they treat foreigners, you must be at fault. Since 2007, i promised myself and God i wont be caught going to SA for anything..

South Africa has effectively functioned as a shock absorber for the rest of the continents, a spare tyre other African nations could lean on whenever decades of poor leadership pushed their citizens to flee. Since apartheid ended, that role has meant absorbing a steady, largely unregulated flow of migrants from countries whose governments failed to provide security, jobs, or basic services at home.

The problem is that this absorption has come at a cost the South African state never really budgeted for. Infrastructure built for a smaller population, housing, clinics, schools, electricity, water, is now stretched past its limits, and ordinary South Africans are the ones feeling the strain in longer queues, higher competition for scarce jobs, and crumbling services. That's arguably the real engine behind the anger and the xenophobic backlash: it's less about hostility to fellow Africans in the abstract and more about a population that feels it has been carrying a continental burden alone, with no relief and no acknowledgment.
The demand, then, isn't really "leave and disappear" , it's "go fix your own house." The underlying argument is that migrants would be better served putting that same energy, skill, and labor into pressuring their own governments for accountability, rather than exporting the problem southward indefinitely. In that view, the sustainable fix isn't tighter borders in South Africa alone , it's functional states elsewhere on the continent, so people have a reason to stay and build rather than leave and survive.
That's more of the reasons that migrants are frequently scapegoated for problems such as, unemployment, crime, service delivery failures , that are substantially rooted in South Africa's own domestic policy choices and inequality legacy, not migration levels. Xenophobic violence has killed and displaced people, including migrants with legal status and even South African citizens mistaken for foreigners, which is a harder thing to justify as pure economic frustration.

I came across something yesterday while reading a blog. I was meant to take a screenshot, but somehow I didn't. Someone raised the question, what if South Africa has long been shouldering the consequences of poor leadership elsewhere in Africa, and is simply tired of it

everything is the country no good as if Nigerians were cursed! Even someone that has his own House sold it and other properties to go another man's country because he believes the country no good. The country where he was able to buy car, build house, it's a bad country. See Nigeria as a country will not change our conditions because it's a good country, a country naturally endowed with numerous natural resources. It's we Nigerians that are bad citizens and not the country

Although it is a South African post, I wasn't referring to those haters. Nothing would take me to South Africa or India and some other states by my free will.

My goal is to move to a First World Country (not dragging South Africa ghetto with violent low IQ people). Those in the highly developed part of South Africa has no business with half naked Zulu Warrior, they deal with the bullshit of Elon Musk type racism if they are not also very rich.

Black man is very tribalistic. Even USA has something call FBA (foundational Black America) and they HATE Africans. I only said Asians are taking over in UK, USA, Canada. They are CEO of multi billion dollar companies and also Mayor, Governors, and property owners. But when a black man immigrants, they say go back home and develop home (even though he ran away from from due to marginalization).

Not all Indians are racists. Infact, I have related with some Indian families and they were really good to me. They helped me a lot. We can learn a lot of things from the Indians, especially Business and Agriculture. I still want to visit India ( Beautiful country in some parts ) and learn agriculture secrets there. Cheers.

Well Spoken. The problem with Nigeria is we Nigerians ourselves 😲😲. We just need to change and be more focused and nicer towards one another.

"Na from clap dem dey enter dance"

You guys saw the signs but ignored them.

Last week I noticed the smell of a burning wire coming from my roof, around the distribution board. I climbed into the ceiling, traced the faulty wire and replaced it immediately. Had I failed to do so, it could have resulted in something terrible.

These migrants should have made plans to return home or relocate to another country a long time ago.

Don’t bet your life on that! Things are changing. In USA it was the Supreme Court that stepped in to keep birth right citizenship in place. People should advocate for good governance in their country of origin the same way they advocate for migrants rights in the countries they sojourn in or japa to..
