NPower wasn’t general. We need a benefits system for every citizen.

Allahismylord:
NPOWER did more benefit than the SRD grant. Only for Balablu to cancel it.

And how much do you think R350 is worth!

I sincerely hope S.A. is not entering the trap that is inflicting serious damages on Nigeria. That demon is subsidy for the poor. The rich understands how to use the tool.

And the issue is that South Africa cannot return to Nigeria for help again. Wow! We issued them over 300 passports as honorary Nigerians during those days the white showed them shege, and they were banned from leaving the nation. Also, Nigeria gave them a total of around $100 billion raw cash over 2 to 4 decades cos we were doing "big brother" in those days. This amount does not include other running expenses we incurred. Mehn! South Africa has isolated themselves. This is a trap. Wow!

I really think they should be educated to find a softer way. Nigerians are something else, but ha ba na. If you add up everything they claim they have been denied (which I am not disputing), it can never be 1/20 of that $100 billion. Never!

Ha! The way the whites will move fast now will be rapid, and I know that they have got the back of the US under oga. Na small change some guys offered these blacks to demand for grants for the poor. Im sure. This thing is sponsored by some guys.

I may be wrong, but I predict that this will be the downfall of the black ruling South Africa. The white will hijack the political power soon. And together with their economical power, they will use the law and modern techniques to make sure the blacks dont ever step into power again. Mark my words.

And the issue here is that, they will NEVER be able to ask Nigeria for help again. If our future presidents decide to do something, Naija go pieces them. Lol.

Either posted the same comment twice or this is another account based abroad. Terrorism stemmed from people believing the system in place would never favour them. Thus they chose to take by force. If payment of monthly benefits was a thing, robbery statistics would reduce by a little close to half.
You are wrong on the bolded.
You just defined agitation or militancy, and not terrorism.
Terrorism is generally independent of the system. In fact, an example is Nigeria, in which the majority of terrorists come from individuals from Niger, Chad, Guinea, and the Sahel region. The system that cooked them is religion, and not the Nigerian system.

On the italicized and bolded,
grin grin grin
I laugh

Bandits do collect millions, even billions, and yet they are still bandits. And somehow, you believe that giving them 30k monthly will stop them from wanting to collect billions? Come on, guy.

A good example is how the sections of the American community in which blacks and immigrants dominate, with more than 90% use of social benefits like free food, free housing, etc., via EBT cards, usually are the sections with the highest crime rates. I mean, you go to the whites communities who work for their money, and there is no crime. While you go to the black community who don't work for their money,a and there is perpetual crime.

You think economics and its social thread are a joke?
grin grin grin

Don't mind these jealous nigerians i admire you south africans for your unity on your effort in holding your corrupt government to account and demanding from them kudos to you south africans. I wished we nigerians could do the same but i doubt it, we are only good at been tribalists amongst ourselves, some of us are even supporting our corrupt politicians who are looting our own money and sharing it amongst themselves and their children we are co.wards who are afraid of our govament.

We cannot even querry our govament over the terrorisms, banditry, kidnapping and insecurity in nigeria, what some of us are concernd about is how South Africans are lazy drunks. Nigerians are obsessed with you south africans they wished they have a country like south africa.

They don't want to hear the truth about the decay, bad governance, insecurity and poverty in nigeria, if anyone tries to bring it up in conversation all he/she would get would be insults and tribal derogatory remarks and some will rather japa to south africa instead of staying here and fixing our country. When they arrive SA they start behaving the same way they behave here, when you guys try to stop them they claim Xenophobia.

I support South africans in what ever way they want their govament to treat and serve them the people are the govament not the corrupt politicians.
Nothing but the truth

That's almost equivalent to the 30,000 naira APC Data boys on Nairaland earn monthly. Money that cannot sufficiently cater for a living person's daily needs, either there in SA or in Nigeria. Truly, many people in many countries are just simply existing, not living.

RandDigital:
The Department of Social Development (DSD) hopes to finalise the policy for a new Basic Income Support (BIS) grant by March 2027, getting it ready for implementation.

The BIS is the new social grant the government plans to use to replace the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress grant, which has been extended far beyond its original intent.

The SRD grant was a R350 per month support grant, later lifted to R370, launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic to help qualifying South Africans weather the economic uncertainty at the time.

The department noted that the grant was only ever expected to be in effect for six months, but over 8 million recipients became dependent on the support.

The DSD characterised the billions spent on the grant as a “success” because it directly addressed poverty, noting that recipients mainly used the money to buy food, electricity, and clothing.

This, it said, then supported local economies.

“Research by multiple independent researchers also found the SRD grant to be well targeted and successful in reducing hunger, poverty and inequality while also enabling the participation of beneficiaries in job search and other economic activity,” it said.

Because of this, the national government, supported by the presidency, is moving to transform the SRD grant into a new Basic Income Support policy, which is currently being processed.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has long supported the new grant and, in his 2026 State of the Nation Address, promised that the rework of the new grant would happen this year.

Nothing but the truth
Of course, many of us nigerians knows the truth but refuses to admit or recognised, the corruption in nigeria is epic, no one is brave enough and can be trusted enough to confront it, when election comes some of the who are on here calling south africans lazy would still collect peanuts, cheap bread, a tin of tomato, a satchet of garri and sugar from the same corrupt politicians who kept them poor and votes for them, the same corrupt tiffs every 4 years, yet they have the cheek to call south africans lazy drunks for recieving 350 rands from SA govament grin it is ridiculously hyporcritical and stu.pidd of us. At least 350 rands is more than a tin of tomato, a loaf of bread, a satchet of garri and sugar. I mean who are really lazy? We nigerians or South africans? cheesy

We don't have electricity for more than 30 years in nigeria no one has been held accountable for it some people looted electricity funds and shared it amongst themselves. One politicians alone looted 230 billion naira, no questions asked. Our judges are corrupt, police, army, every public office is corrupt guess who works in these offices corrupt nigerians! Not south africans!

It is very sad, that we are always vocal to demand for justice and accusses south africans and other countries of discrimination and xenophobia but our own tribalism amongst ourselves is worst.

Before we can resolve all these issues in our country we must admit that there are problems with our country rather than japaing to other people's countries we must stay and fix our own country and stop denying that we have a big problem in our own country.

I am in support of South africans anyone who don't like it, well... Come and beat me here in my mansion grin

I believe our politicans wants all of us to japa so they can have the country to themselves and their families, so they can loot more without anyone querring them, so they can do what they like with our country. Well... Some of us are staying put here to fix our country.
