Akara grant is part of the promise to lift the poorest out of poverty which some of them are already keying into

If its too little for you, then ignore it
Waw so Akara fits future goals.

That's a first.

Not surprised.

I have not really followed the story in detail but from the little I have read he and someone in the upper levels of government had a deal and somehow it went bad.

Who was the person who exposed the situation initially?

Chief, you are also mixing things up, you made strong points earlier, but this point up there is myopic.

For instance, nobody enjoys paying millions for container trucking, sleeping at Apapa port, or dealing with task force and highway extortion and various risk involved,if they can just clear their market closer to home.

Secondly, who says you must close your shop in Lagos just to move to the East or wherever ? A serious businessman will keep his presence in Lagos and still open another regional branch. If you can clear goods directly into a wearhouse near Aba or Onitsha for example, your landing cost will drop drastically. You will easily beat the price of anyone bringing their own load all the way from Lagos.Demand follows infrastructure. Lagos isn't a monopoly because it's magical,it's a monopoly because it's the only one currently functioning plus years of evolution involved in the structuring. The moment a working alternative opens up, the whole Southeast, South-South, and even parts of the North will pivot immediately.

Your other point stands, dredging is a limiter.
In business, your "Home" is not where you come from, but where your target market is domiciled. What makes the SE, the "Home" of a businessman? Is it because he's from there, or because his Target market is there?

I agree with you that a lot of stress is involved in shipping from Lagos, but is the solution to go and clear your container 500km away from your market (Lagos), then use 3 million naira to truck it back? Think about it.

If your target market is Lagos, why do you need to go and ship at PH, and bring it back to Lagos? Is there any economic benefit in this?

In business, your home is not your village. It is where you make your money. Dangote does not have any Cement factory in Kano (His village). The largest refinery he built was not in Kano. BUA is building industries in Nigeria except his village (Kano). Do you think they are stupid?

You're making the same mistake he made. The SE has a large percentage of traders, but the SE (Region) is not the largest consumers of what they trade.

If your target market is in Ibadan, ship your goods to Ibadan. What's the point of taking it to Aba, then carrying it back to Ibadan?

There has been underground feud between the two parties ( Gbaja and Adeyemi) that led to Adeyemi 's arrest in October 2025 (According to Bayo Onanuga's account of the matter)

Adeyemi was allegedly arrested October 2025, based off the petition from Femi Gbajabiamila's office, he was charged to court in November and the hearing will come up this July ; 27th July 2026 precisely.

When Adeyemi was arrested then he claimed Gbaja got him the position same Gbaja was calling "fake" and mentioned the name of a certain Dolapo Tanimola as the proxy who not only served as go-between him and Gbaja to facilitate his appointment. Somehow the Dolapo Tanimola guy died in hotel fire few days before Adeyemi was arrested after Gbaja petitioned police to arrest Adeyemi.

PS: None of these things made it to the media until recently when Gbaja issued a public disclaimer distancing himself from Adeyemi and calling him an impostor. Gbaja made the disclaimer 11th of June 2026.

So last week towards the end of June 2026, Adeyemi sat in front of camera to do a full chest call out of Gbaja by accusing him of taking 400m from him through the late proxy for securing him that "appointment". He decided to scatter the table seeing Gbaja was out to throw him under the bus.

Adeyemi then threw a lot of things into the public like telling the public to ask how the agency Gbaja claims does not exist happens to have 1.3 billion allocated for them in the 2026 budget. He urged the public to ask Gbaja and those calling him impostor to explain how his agency happen to operate a TSA account with CBN, operate an office at the federal secretariat, how's been able to have high level meetings with leadership of the two federal houses of assembly, etc.

Firstly, like I said -demand follows infrastructure.

Secondly, you’re still getting it wrong completely. Take for instance a working port in Ibom,PH or Onitsha,do you think only the SE will use it? All nearby states will automatically pivot there. This your point that a businessman must stay inside Lagos because of "target market" is flawed, also i never said build in your village, don't know how you came to that conclusion,i only engaged when you made it seem like its all Lagos and Enugu/others should keep shipping through Lagos cause its their target market.

Thirdly, you’re actually proving my point for me. Lagos is not their choice,it's the only option they have left. Importers would naturally keep their presence in Lagos and still open a regional branch. They will prefer the port that is closer to drop their load. With time, the same things that made Lagos port the default will start happening around those other ports too. Rome wasn't built in a day.

In addition, you shouldn't have even brought up Dangote because it made my point of you being myopic. Business doesn't work like that and it's ain't always 1+1,If everything is about "Lagos/target market", why is his biggest cement plant in Kogi State (Obajana) and Ogun State (Ibese)? Why didn’t he build the huge plants inside Lagos his target market? I'm waiting for your answer to this one.Now my answer to yours,he only uses Lagos port because of my earliest point-it's the only fully functioning one sitting on the Atlantic. If other regions had working ports, nobody would go through the Lagos stress.

Lastly,i think i have answered this but I'll further butress, the SE won’t be the only consumer. Every neighboring state will focus on a closer port to save on crazy haulage expenses. Stop making it look like Lagos is the owner of the whole Nigeria market please.

I have repeatedly told you guys that PH port is working. Why are you people assuming it isn't?

Onne is working 100%. An Nnewi man has a port in PH. What's stopping other neighbouring states from using it?

I have also told you that Lagos is a focal point for trade, not just in Nigeria, but other West African states.

Onne is working till tomorrow. Why aren't the Igbos using it?

The best time to scatter this country was 1967, and Gowon foiled it.

As at today, everybody is too invested in Nigeria to make it scatter. Na person wey no get any pin for outside dey shout "Disintegrate".

If Nigeria scatters today, it will set every region at least 20 years behind, with some even further.

you sound like those who think that nigerias 200 million population translates into revenue
the bulk of states in nigeria - SE included are civil service states
the bulk of the residents do not have large amounts of disposable income to engage in consumerism
even before shoprite closed, this was obvious

i visited shoprite enugu in 2015 or 16. all that was being sold there was bread and pastries
there was even a thread where some fool ish kids were talking about how ibos were smart had no use for shoprite because they missed the underlying issue - no consumers to drive retail investment

why would a company like fouani set up a warehouse in the SE when they dont have a guaranteed market? that is the kind of the thing the federal government of old did - build infrastructure that would not be properly utilized

I just told you that your "Home" in business, is where your interests are. It could be market or resources. You don't relocate your business to Zamfara because you came from there

Limestone is in Obajana, and that's why Dangote is there. Okpella is a stone throw to Obajana, and that's why BUA is there. The reason Ibese is there too is definitely because there's an advantage it offers for Dangote, and not because "they should have a Cement factory"

You guys are using emotions to address the issue. Reality, unfortunately doesn't agree with that.

If Lagos is your target market, stay there. What is all these "Regional" Branch you are saying? I should open regional branch, even when the market there doesn't favour me?

An Igbo man importing laptops is selling and making his profits at Computer Village. Why should he go import through Onne port?

Gbaja probably should step down while someone acts in his place pending the conclusion of the inquiry.

Adeyemi allegedly being a scam artist does not exculpate Gbaja.

Not to put mouth in U guy's discussion o, just want to confirm that you are right ; Onne port is fully functional.

Exactly!

Gbaja is a person of interest in the case, he cannot be around the office of the Chief of staff when the matter is to be investigated. He cannot be part of the jury in a case he's a person of interest.

At least let an independent panel be set up to find out how the office of the Accountant general gave the man instruments to facilitate opening of TSA with CBN. Let an investigation also be made to find out how the office of the head of service granted him waiver to recruit over 300 staff under a so called fake agency.

Finally, they should find out how the fake agency found its way into 2026 budget despite Bayo Onanuga claiming the man was arrested October 2025 for being an impostor heading a fake agency. Una claim say Una arrest person for being a fraud in 2025, but somehow allocated 1.3 billion naira to the fake agency Una claim say he faked.

i told a story here or somewhere else

i saw two occasions where there was an employee with id card and email who was not a staff of the company in any capacity
they were being paid by an oga who had then arranged with everyone else to give the guy the required access

this happened in my department and unfortunately the guy died in an accident. not a work related accident so it should have ended there. his extended family started talking about insurance etc because he was in an oil company. it is the kind of thing that could have gotten very ugly the kind of thing sowore would jump on, XXXX company refuses to pay benefits of dead employee. in the end the company quietly paid the family off and our hod had to face disciplinary committee

private , company, public
