Are you feigning sleep or you ain't informed? The day the federal government levels the playing field on shipping rates and customs, they'll use it.
Izzou should stop using Chrome AI mode and go and ask those actually working at the ports

Bimmarlykay:
Is Raum your mentor?you sound like him.
That said, using Shoprite to measure the buying/purchasing power of the East should be the funniest thing I've read this year, because it shows you either don't even understand how real trade works or you're tribalistic. You think because you saw only bread and pastries in ShopRite Enugu, it means there is no money? Eastern folks buy their things in bulk inside real open markets,go to Onitsha Main Market, Ariaria in Aba, or Alaoji, those places handle billions of Naira daily in raw cash.

And this your question about Fouani is laughable, because Fouani already has massive showrooms, big warehouses, and heavy distribution running actively in Enugu, Onitsha, Aba, and Port Harcourt to sell electronics because the demand there is too high. Calling East a "civil service region"(same hogwash Raum spills)is pure ignorance when the place is run by billionaires and private businessmen, with industrial towns like Nnewi manufacturing motor parts and cables without any government help. If the region has no buyers, why are thousands of containers, luxury cars, building materials, and heavy machinery being transported from Lagos down East every single day?

Stop using bread and ShopRite to judge a region that controls the largest wholesale market network in West Africa. Look at real trade facts and stop typing with emotion.
You are very well informed

What baffles me the most is watching people who are struggling to survive passionately defend the same government under whose policies they continue to suffer. Many of them are uncertain about where their next meal will come from, yet they remain APC's loudest defenders. Those living abroad may have political or personal interests wey dey make them turn Sergio Ramos, but when it comes to those who bear the direct impact of the country's challenges every day, I genuinely struggle to understand what they believe they stand to gain. Omo!!?

You just want to argue. Every point you raise can easily be fact checked, but you just want to win.

I am hoping to see your excuse after this
Based on your assertions, explain why an Onitsha based business man will leave Onne or PH and prefer to import through Lagos.

By the way, 80% of the clearing and forwarding agents in Apapa and Tincan are from SE
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Spy360(m): 5:30pm On Jul 04
BlueRayDick:
Baba, anybody that works in Trade Finance unit of a bank can tell you that after Apapa Port and Tin Can Island Port in Lagos, the next most used port of discharge for most imported goods into this country is Onne Port.

Onne port is fully functional bro.
Onne port is functional but not economically viable due to higher freight duties and rates plus turn around time. This is despite the congestion in Lagos

Because the choice of your port of destination is determined by the Shipper. It is what they make available that you choose from.

And they know that it easy to fill up a 1000 container vessel headed for Lagos than Onne.

This thing is synonymous to airlines. To travel from America to Nigeria, you either land in Abuja or Lagos. It is easier for the airline to fill a plane with Lagos bound passengers than Abakaliki passengers, even though both are International airports.

Do you understand now?

Spy360:

And so?

Are their customers only Igbo people?

The SE has a large number of traders (Importers), but the region itself is not the largest consumers of what they import. That's a fact.

The person importing container at Trade fair, is not selling to only Igbo people. He has customers from all over .

So this idea of relocating your business to the SE is just funny. You think the Customer in Lagos will go through the stress of coming to Onitsha to find you? Another person will quickly import in Lagos and take your place

Nigeria cannot function without oil. The ND deserves more respect from Nigerians tbh.

If oil falls to $20 today, the Nigerian government will collapse.

We need to diversify. That is what these administrations should've focused on all this while.

Gbaja first came to denounce the agency. Then the guy replied

Na so the story take start
Either
1. Gbaja does not know about the runs and was surprised someone in govt was running this racket behind him

2. Someone higher up was about to find out and Gbaja decided to throw his racket partner under the bus to save his own behind

3. The Adeniyi guy was growing wings and maybe reneged on his agreement with Gbaja(which will be a stupid thing for him to do) and come blow whistle

I would stick with your options 2 and 3.

Gbaja probably wanted to burst the bubble before it would be traced to him. Unfortunately, na parrot him dey deal with.

Every govt has been paying lip service to this diversification. Countries without natural resources depend heavily on taxes

We need to start getting used to using taxes and other sources of income before the oil revenues run out cos e go shock everyone

I think its the awoof oil income thats still keeping Nigeria together

2 more likely than 3. In my opinion

Cos if you have an arrangement where you are able to collect money without doing anything, why will you mess it up

Even if its 10% of the allocation dey enter Adeniyi pocket and the rest going to senior men, thats free money you can be eating for the next 20yrs. I dont underestimate the foolishness or stupidity of some men sha

If na 3, his parrot mouth don put am for trouble, after 2 weeks public go forget, and he don lose his money. Forget say any top govt official will get punished or lose their job. Adeniyi might actually land in jail

According to Adeniyi, the agency was about to receive 27 billion, and Gbaja wanted 48%. This, according to him was the Genesis of their quarrel.

The whole thing is a mess sha. Tinubu would have suspended Gbaja at least, rather than Onanuga coming to say it's a lie

Now, the digging don show say Adeniyi no lie

I have now lost count of the number of times Onanuga publicly denied something, only for it to be the opposite and he is left with his tail in between his legs.

I think Gbaja is one of tinubus day one niccas.

So they will either stretch this out until he is vindicated or until something else enters the news cycle

😁😁😁😁😁

I can't help but laugh. A governor was caught on camera collecting bribes in dollars and nothing happened, he even ended up a party chairman and you expect Gbaja to be sacked? 😂😂

I don't see a case where Gbaja would be sacked, if any miracle happens and he gets sacked, he'd be rewarded with something juicy or returned back as a HoR or Senator come 2027.

Oil dey ur head bro! U know the drill, Tinubu is not going to sack someone like Gbaja over something worse than this scandal sef. It's like most people don't understand that Tinubu has no problem working with people of questionable character and soiled reputation.

Tinubu made Atiku Bagudu the minister for Budget and planning of this country. The same Atiku Bagudu who helped Abacha launder millions of dollars of our national wealth.

Tinubu handed the biggest project in Nigerian history(Coastal road project) to a company owned and controlled by Chagoury who helped Abacha launder millions of dollars belonging to the Nigerian state.

If you think those are cases that happened in the 90s/early 2000's and don't matter, It will interest you to know that Tinubu's Renewed Hope Ambassador in Taraba state is a man who was banned in 2019 from contesting any elective post in Nigeria for 10 years because he presented a forged certificate to INEC

Yes I understand now.

So that's why Lagos is congested with Igbo people.

If the Yoruba bigots don't like seeing the Igbos around Lagos, they now know what to do.
