TheStoriesOfMan:
The corporate food industry in America is really bleeped up.

Fast foods contains high lead
Fruits are GMO
Coffee are grinded with rat poo
Vegetables are stored in high temperature controlled rooms.
Water is sometimes impure with mercury.
Baby food is laced with harmful chemicals.

This is not a conspiracy theory my brother. It is real.
Some sellers use dubious and unhealthy means to make these things does not mean every seller is bad. There are bad eggs in every sector doesn't mean you should come on line and make baseless generic statements
Fruits are GMO or some bad eggs are making some fruits using GMO.
Don't just come and post baseless info like there are no good fruits that are properly cultivated.

Please just locate popular fruits vendors that are verified with good hygiene and buy. Common fruits like orange watermelon etc can easily be bought as they are commonly grown in Nigeria.

Leave pessimistic and bad news bringers to their faith. Better to eat fruits than pizza or shawarma or drink coke. Fruits are by far better than alcoholic drinks.

Stay healthy folks

After using some for the above purposes.... keep the rest to plant. They ... with the help of our government ... are coming to control our crops by controlling the seeds. Don't be surprised to see the FG giving out seeds and seedlings for "seedless watermelons". After harvesting... where will you get seeds to plant the next crop? ... wouldn't you have to depend on the seed supplier? Then who would be in control of your crops? GMO seeds do not germinate... GMO plants will contaminate natural plants and make them infertile. Keep your watermelon seeds... stay clear of free watermelon seeds or seedlings shared out by the FG.
I chew mine.

Lol. Travel to America and ask about the quality of their food. You'll thank yourself for being a Nigerian.

You think I come online to Nairaland to talk senselessly?

I have facts, pure raw facts, undeniable evidence.

Still regurgitating the same thing. There are facts, true!! There are foods/fruits stored with bad chemicals, true. Is it every one of them? False.
Are all fruits sold in Nigeria imported from America? No. Are most that we eat here homegrown in Nigeria? True. Is it every one of them that is bad? No.

Should we stop eating fruits entirely because one random poster posted info about the bad ones /bad practices practiced by some people? No.
Are fruits generally healthy and should be eaten? Yes!! Should we buy them but carefully? Yes
I rest my case .

Re: Before You Throw Away Watermelon Seeds, Read This! by saintneo: 5:43pm On Jul 05
Can it be used as Egusi?
PharmaTimesng:
Most people enjoy the sweet part of watermelon and throw the seeds away. Interestingly, watermelon seeds are edible and nutritious but they should be prepared properly because raw seeds are harder to digest.

Here are four simple ways to enjoy them:
1. Roast them: Wash, dry and roast until crunchy. Great as a healthy snack.
2. Soak them: Soak for 6–12 hours before drying and roasting. This may improve the absorption of minerals like zinc, iron and magnesium.
3. Grind into powder: Add 1–2 teaspoons to pap (ogi), oats, smoothies, yoghurt, soups or stew.
4. Make tea: Crush the seeds, boil for 10–15 minutes, strain and drink. Some people traditionally use it to support hydration and urinary comfort.

Who should be careful?
• People with seed or nut allergies.
• Those with sensitive digestion (powdered seeds may be easier to tolerate).
• Anyone on a kidney or mineral-restricted diet should consult their healthcare provider before consuming large amounts.
Like many healthy foods, moderation is important because watermelon seeds are calorie-dense.

By the way, have you ever tried eating watermelon seeds? If yes, how did you prepare them?

"Similarly, you might have heard of rat droppings being ‘allowed’ in cereal and grain products. This rumor is unfortunately based on reality.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does have established ‘defect action levels’ for contaminants like rodent filth, acknowledging that it is not possible to completely remove all natural defects during food production.

While any amount is unpleasant, the acceptable levels for rodent contamination (including feces) vary by food product. Here are a few examples:

Wheat —The FDA allows an average of up to 9 rodent poop pellets per kilogram (roughly 4 pellets per pound).

Coffee Beans — Coffee beans are allowed to contain up to 10 milligrams of animal poop per pound.

Other foods — The FDA’s Food Defect Levels Handbook referenced above outlines specific, low-level allowances for various foods to ensure they are, as much as possible, free from filth.

These standards are in place because low levels of these contaminants are considered unavoidable, even with good manufacturing practices. The levels are set based on what is practical, not necessarily because they are entirely harmless, but they are not generally considered a health hazard at these minimum, regulated amounts.

Coffee beans, in addition to allowable animal poop noted above, are permitted to contain “acceptable” amounts of rodent hairs and insect and mammalian feces in specified amounts.

You’ll find a long list of acceptable “defect levels” by scanning the FDA’s handbook."

do those American manufacturers intentionally allow rat and other mammalian poops, hairs and insects into their food or it is accidental and an oversight?and here I was thinking whites are more cleaner and healthier than Africans what sort of wickedness is that? Nigerians adulterated goods producers still dey learn wickedness for where american producers dey

I once read somewhere 4 years ago that many canned and manufactured foods produced in china are heavily contaminated infact I read tofu, and mushrooms are soaked and cured with human poops in a laboratory with cauliflower and watercress grown with human poop even corned beef I read it was produced with human flesh from there I swore never to buy any edible products from china.

Thank you for your contribution but the benefits were briefly mentioned.
Roasting improves their taste and makes them easier to digest, while soaking helps reduce phytic acid, allowing the body to absorb important minerals such as zinc, iron, and magnesium more effectively.

Grinding the seeds into powder is presented as the best option for people who have difficulty digesting whole seeds, and it also makes them easy to incorporate into foods like pap (ogi), smoothies, oats, yoghurt, and soups.

Luwak is a coffee made from partially fermented poop of civet cats.

That's true. They extract collagen from aborted fetuses and add to creams in the cosmetics industry. They also process fresh infant cadaver to be canned with pepper sauce.

As wicked as Nigerians are, them still dey learn.

Use Panadol to soften meat
Add azodye to palm oil.
Inject ethylene into plantain to make it ripe within hours
So many others.

Na why I relocated to the village so that I can plant and eat my food.

Once again, the food industry is bleeped up.
