Yes, the device has the port, it's the device we already know. I meant to ask if MTN made it compulsory to register with esim or if there is the option to choose external Sim at the moment of registration.

Anyway, I think it will be the same as that of Airtel where we can swap the esim for external one. I just want to know from first users like you.
They don't ask you to make a choice. The devices have a SIM serial number attached to them, that SIM serial number typically starts with 89234..... The SIM serial number doesn't have any phone number attached to it by default. It's simply attached to an esim, which is already embedded into the device.
At the point of registration, it's the SIM serial number that is used for registration. Once the registration is up on the system, the system chooses from a pool of available numbers and attach it to the serial.

You may choose to swap that number to a physical sim afterwards.

I see. Hopefully they allow the swaps grin

I will try their office here to see if they have the ODU. I'm not hopeful they will though, since they never sold any of the 5G router variants here.

Airtel have shown me the worst shege in the past 5 days than they have ever done since I started using this their ODU package. More than terrible.

The only surety will be when someone with the x17u pops the vack open lifts the metal plate covering the chip components and telling us by taking a picture what is inside but guys are scared as if they'll damage the device but it is so easy and safe
NSEstudent:
I always thought the X17U is a downgrade with improved battery. Apparently this is credits to the chip, the battery management I mean. I don't think it's Snapdragon though, I saw Unisoc V620 the last time I checked.

I got the MTN ODU earlier today at the MTN's HQ in Abuja. The device is being handled by the broadband team, not customer service walk-in. You are asked to pay #30,100.

After registration, the 100Mbps unlimited plan was activated, and it started working immediately. The ODU MTN is currently issuing is the ZLT X17U, same as the one of Airtel, same IDU as well.

I got home and started streaming with it and carrying out speed tests. I never got up to the advertised 100Mbps, it was hovering around 40 to 70Mbps on both 4G and 5G. it could be because of the MTN network issues we have been having in my location for the past one month or there about.
The thing is, i live directly under a base station and speed used to be excellent. In fact, i used to get up to 200Mbps on MTN 4G even in the daytime. But all of a sudden, MTN data services took a bad turn for over a month now. I can't even get up to 80Mbps on 5G, same 5G i used to get 400Mbps+.

Apart from the network challenges in my location, the other thing pissing me off about the MTN ODU is the ODU's interface. It's bland, lack features like the Airtel variant. It doesn't have the settings to enable or disable network bands or to lock them. It doesn't have the settings to change the internal antenna's directions like you can on the Airtel's variant, this particular feature helped me a lot with Airtel. The interface also doesn't show your data usage count like the one of Airtel. In fact, the interface is so annoying.

I'm not discouraging anyone from getting it. If you know you can live without those features on the Airtel ODU as a power user, then go ahead and get it. The speed issue might as well be a problem specifically with my location as i mentioned earlier. I will be reporting the network issue to MTN.

This is the message you receive on the device after the 100Mbps plan is successfully activated, it specifically says the plan is without FUP (Fair usage Policy), and some images of the interface.
bro can this be used in Lagos

Of course. Walk into any of the various MTN service centers in Lagos, not an MTN connect store. The broadband team are only present in service centers. Get it there.

What a lucky champ that means the device is aggregating 2 5g NR bands anchored on 3 or 4 4g LTE bands my brother there ping and speeds are never dropping!

How are you people enjoying this Airtel ODU . I subbed 2monts ago and didn't use up to 5 gig. I dumped it only for me to give it another try.
My speed is 230k.
My location isn't an issue, I stay in the heart of Abuja.
After this subscription, I will kiss it goodbye
I now believe all those TIKTOK videos

Yeah, i have changed the IDU to Airtel's ZLT W304VA PRO, which i believe is superior, and the performance has been more stable.

I see.

A bulk of the performance lies on the ODU though.

So far no issues with pairing ZLT X17U with ZLT W304VA PRO right?

where is the SIM card located? My Airtel ODU has an esim. Won't it be affected if I swap out the IDU for another one

SCAM ALERT

I paid this seller (Segun222) for an IPTV playlist after he assured me it was active. Instead, he sent me an account that had already expired. When I pointed this out and asked for a replacement or a refund, he blocked me.

I'm posting this to warn others so they don't lose their money the way I did. Please don't send this seller any money.
