‘Fixing poverty In Nigeria responsibility of Local Governments’ – Presidency by adenigga(op): 11:45am On Jul 06
The Presidency has said that fixing poverty in Nigeria is certainly the responsibility of the local governments because they are the closest to the people.

Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Economic Affairs (Office of the Vice President), Tofe Fasua, said this in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He said that was the reason president Bola Tinubu is advocating for local government autonomy.

“Fixing poverty is certainly a local government’s thing because local governments are the closest to the people.

“So the solution to poverty in Nigeria is actually at the local government level, and that’s the reason the President has advocated for local government autonomy, and has also ensured that the states are a lot more powerful now in terms of funding.

“I mentioned to you the fact that those days where civil servants will be owed 18 months, 12 months, six months, are gone. Pensioners are getting their money a lot, and I think that’s where it matters.

“In 1999, I used to go to many local governments in Lagos and I saw how local governments were working then.

“A lot of people were coming to the local government. The people who were really down financially, would go to the local government chairman on a daily basis and they were being settled,” he said.

A government bereft of ideas and solutions points fingers and apportions blame.

A government bereft of ideas and solutions points fingers and apportions blame. It is not local governments that set economic policy, removes subsidies or determines benchmark interest rates. It is not local governments that set the minimum wage. A government of excuses.

I've noticed that this tinibu government is now shifting their responsibilities, to state and local governments. This is something they never accepted during Goodluck Jonathan's government.

After devaluing naira, increase inflation and reduce purchasing power, the bandits in babablu government are now blaming Local government for poverty.

Tinubu is a weapon fashioned against Nigeria.

Local Governments Autonomy

That's it.... Now the local governments must stand up to their responsibilities.
Local governments now received their monthly 🤑💰 💰 allocations directly from the federal government. So no more excuses for non performance.

Things have changed

CSU first class certificate forging master strategist is not shifting blame from his sensational failures by force. So sad this is the rogues administering a nation in a 21st century world.

“No governor of a state in Nigeria is the chief security officer. Putting the blame on the governors, who have been effectively emasculated, for the abysmal performance of the GOVERNMENT AT THE CENTER which controls all these security agencies, smacks of ignorance and mischief..." "On matters of security, THE BULK STOPS AT THE PRESIDENT'S TABLE. Like in other countries, Jonathan is the Chief Security Officer. Stop Boko Haram." ( Bola Tinubu Tweet April 14, 2014).

".....The pattern is now unmistakable. Every time a serious security threat emerges in any Nigerian state, President Bola Tinubu does not announce a federal intervention. He does not deploy new military battalions. He does not address the nation with a strategy. Instead, he waits. President Tinubu has perfected a political trick. And then the governors speak.

By forcing state governors to announce their own security measures, he achieves two things.
-First, he avoids the political cost of admitting that federal security has failed.

-Second, he creates a convenient scapegoat. If the drones do not arrive, blame the governor. If the forest guards are not trained, blame the governor. If kidnappings continue, blame the governor. The federal government remains untouchable, invisible, and useless......

Re: ‘Fixing poverty In Nigeria responsibility of Local Governments’ – Presidency by Ofunaofu: 2:28pm On Jul 06
The federal government's real responsibility is the untold hardship, soaring inflation, the collapse of the naira, and the deepening poverty caused by its calamitous policies disguised as economic reforms.

When you run out of ideas, shifting blame becomes the only policy left. That seems to be Tinubu's playbook.

In other words, right now the federal government is exempted from any obligation (security, poverty, power supply etc). During Jonathan's time "the buck stops at the president's table", according to a certain someone
