The sad truth is, Ronaldo is a loser and fell victim to his OWN narrative he spent years painting. He knew he could never match up to messi and instead of pushing himself, he decided to being down messi's achievements. This isn't someone who is a mentality monster. This person should not be anyone's idol. This is a loser who thought he is greater than he actually was.

All the hate he is receiving is karma. Thats it

Honestly, I can never imbibe his characters at all. He is filled with hate and ego. He singlehandedly started and engineered this comparison about him and Messi, which shouldn't have arisen at all. He made Messi his idol and tried everything possible to be like him. He changed to a goal poacher immediately he saw what Messi was doing in La Liga, not knowing that Messi doesn't even care; he plays for the gun of it and plays as a team. It was this same idol that will always make him bring up discussions that point to insecurity. The same idol drove him to 2022 WC and surprisingly, 2026 WC. CR7 is one of the Greatest Football Player I have ever watched play the beautiful game of Football, mind you I have been watching the World Cup since 1978 and have followed Country and Club Football religiously since the early 80s.

Amongst equals, there will be that one Footballer that we personally would think is better.

I never watched Pele played aside the video clips we all watch now and then, for me the "The Greatest of them" would be Maradona until Messi came.

And during this era, you simply can't ignore CR7. He has been awesome and I think the Competition in him actually takes off marks from his claim to being The GOAT as they say nowadays.

He took it to another level with his utterances, body languages, innuendos and funny enough his fans didn't help him in this matter at all.

When you let them see reasons why another player has more claim ro the GOAT status, they will abuse you just like CR7 himself will do by saying people lack CREDIBILITY for airing their opinions.

He said, Zidane lacked CREDIBILITY, Henry was Jealous, Zlatan was Jealous. Even his Teammates at United were not left out.

Same in Madrid.

By and large, CR7 is an ICON, a Role Model for anyone who believed in hardwork.

He is indeed a great man and an embodiment of handwork with results, but your paragraphs 5 and 6 summarise where he got it wrong and allowed emotion, ego and sentiments to affect his passion and drive. People should learn from his mistakes. I keep repeating it that if he had started some of those crucial matches from the bench or agreed to get substituted ar some points, Portugal would mostly likely reach the final. Him and the Ciach could have worked it out. Let the young guns do the hardwork, then come in when the game is won, almost won. Come in as super sub, score or assists and your ego will be intact, even more pronounced with the headlines saying Ronaldo rescued Portugal.
