Re: GIG Logistics Nationwide Recruitment For Centre Agents by casualobserver: 11:48am On Jul 07
This is what most graduates in Nigeria have been reduced to. Abroad these are jobs are for school leavers with 3 “o” levels. This is what the CEO of Monie point was talking about. Most Nigerian graduates won’t make the grade for proper graduate level jobs and will have to settle for effectively what are clerical jobs.

So think twice when you waste your life in a useless university course from a poor university in the name of collecting degree. Most Nigerians would be better if spending the 4 years they wasted at university learning a trade or a skill.

In any event the trajectory of the world is that even many properly educated graduates will struggle to get jobs as AI makes their roles redundant…..talk less those who graduated from a poor system.

Abroad this abroad that. This is not abroad. In that same abroad, we Nigerians who are toilet cleaners, works in warehouse, supermarkets. The only special thing is the wage difference. We should learn to appreciate organisations that create and provide jobs. It's not easy to operate one and at the same create job in Nigeria.

My friend the point is you are a glorified clerk with your Nigerian degree. It’s not about abroad, even here in Nigeria you will apply for proper jobs but you won’t get it because you are a product of a mushroom university competing with people who actually went to sound schools.

If you are happy earning N150k a month after 4 years in university, that’s fine. However in this same Nigeria some fresh graduates earn N2-5m a month. Is it not the same B.Sc? Why is their B.Sc getting them 2m a month and others can only get clerical work?

But there're some people who obtained their degree here in Nigeria and they're earning more. It's not just about the degree but what you can do with it and the nature of job.

The point is the standards have dropped that employers now routinely ask for degrees for jobs that 40yrs ago they dare not. 40yrs ago, no Nigerian employers would dare ask for a degree for this role. 1) because is a low level administrative/clerical role beneath the level of a graduate and 2) 40yrs ago if you had “O” levels, the standard of education was such that with “O” levels you were suited to perform administrative and clerical roles.

I was sitting down with a vulcanizer in Lagos, and in a space of one hour, the guy made about 20k. I can bet my life he would make nothing less than 50k per day. He stays in a good location, though.

It's good as you are open and sincere with the job description and requirements... revealing all of the details..

It will be excellent to also reveal the take-home...either gross salary or net-pay ..per annum or per month. State if their will also be overtime allowances..be clear on this also.

Nigeria's recruiters dey funny...always hiding the koko of the recruitment!
