What's Really The Problem Of African Football? by KiNg0G(op): 8:17pm On Jul 07
What's really the problem of African football, I need hindsight please. You'd see Africa cup of nations 0-0, 1-1 or even 1-0 lead for full 90mins plus extra time and here in world cup an African team leading 0- 2 in second half and can't secure a win till they lose 3-2.

And not just any African teams, champions of africa.

If I didn't watch the match I would have said it's fixing but Africa football generally still has a long way to go not just physically but psychologically. Why won't the whole world take us as a jest in the world stage.

Man knows man. If you are good, if your agent is not a top footballer, nothing for you.
So it's few good attackers and more defenders

Shame on Egypt. They couldn't learn a thing or two from the other Africans who had a similar experience.

Shame!

Save for Northern African countries. Leftover players play for other African countries after European had taken best of them.

Sad but true.

Re: What's Really The Problem Of African Football? by EALG: 8:35pm On Jul 07
It's politics, bro.

Africans have consistently produced some of the world's greatest athletes, especially in sports that demand exceptional physical ability.

Just look at France, a European team with many players of African descent.

The problem is that Africa (especially black Africans) has an inherent problem deeply rooted in our core (Well, it's my opinion).

It's foolish to be leading with 2goals and totally fallback to defence. The least I expected from Egypt was to drag the game to extratime.

Egypt played a great game. They capitalized on Argentina's slow start and scored 2 goals, but Argentina recovered later being the stronger team who had more to lose.

It's normal. Great game from Egypt. Next time they will learn how to continue putting the pressure to consolidate their win.

If it was Messi that was foul before the counter attack it would have been a penalty, huh? But Egypt counter goal was disallowed because they claimed there was a foul , because Messi is Argentine

They have that low fighting spirit till the end of a game.

O boy, Its Ojoro.

You think winning football is only what you can play on the pitch, Officiating kills a match. Why disallowed a goal, penalty not given.

Why Trump call is enough to overturned a RED card.
Nothing wrong with Africa, but we are not yet compete on the same ground with Europe and America

The leaders!

Actually they have the talent but not the infrastructure, technology and programs.

The upgrade in African football should reflect on the affair and living conditions of their society.

I remember Italia 1990.

Cameroon collapsed to England 3_2 in the quarters after leading 2_1.

USA 94

In the second round Nigeria led Italy for most of the match 1_0 till baggio equalized and they later won 2_1.

South Africa 2010

The Ghanaians were about qualifying for the semis against Uruguay after lius Suarez stopped a ball crossing the line with his hands resulting in a penalty.

But the penalty was missed and Ghana was later kicked out through penalties.

Etc....

bad luck?

But rather it's more of football development and inferior psyche of Africa players.

Football is well developed in the Europe and the Americas than Africa due to better infrastructure and funding.

The Moroccans have started indepth development of their football and we all can see the results. The last afcon they hosted was considered one of the best ever in the history of the competition in terms of infrastructure.

From Senegal to DR Congo to Cape Verde to Egypt. It is pathetic. However, these heartbreaking collapses are rarely about a lack of innate grit. Instead, they stem from recurring tactical, physical, and psychological flaws in game management rather than an absence of heart.

Tactical indiscipline and deep blocks are part of the recurring patterns that undo African sides on the biggest stage. After taking leads, teams often retreat into an overly defensive "low block" to protect the score. This invites relentless pressure, surrenders midfield control, and practically guarantees conceding.

Then you also have loss of concentration in critical minutes. If you observe well, you'll see that opponents of elite stature, like the Argentina national team, the Belgium national football team, and the England national football team, are ruthlessly conditioned to punish any slip in focus. When fatigue sets in late in matches, defensive lapses frequently occur.

And, of course, depth and tactical flexibility also contribute to the woes. When major teams go down, their managers can introduce world-class substitutes or shift their tactical shapes to overload the defense. The structural rigidity of African teams often leaves them unable to counter-adjust once the momentum shifts.

Psychological pressure and momentum are also part of the woes. A single mistake or conceded goal can trigger panic, causing teams to lose their composure. Conceding in the 86th or 90th minute creates a psychological domino effect that is difficult to stop.

So, while Egypt, DR Congo, and Senegal, etc., have no shortage of world-class talent, they are ultimately undone by structural issues and lack of experience closing out matches under immense pressure.

There's no problem. They're just more advanced in football than us.
Not only Africa.
Europeans and South Americans holds football.
Re: What's Really The Problem Of African Football? by WorkTheTalk(m): 8:49pm On Jul 07
Corruption, nepotism, economic instability, wars, insecurity, poor governance, political tensions weigh down every aspect of development in Africa. For instance, the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, Ebola outbreak in DC Congo, war in Sudan,
political instability in Cameroon, terrorism in Nigeria and the Sahel regions etc surely affects football success.
Re: What's Really The Problem Of African Football? by floss(m): 8:50pm On Jul 07
It's just lack of courage... A situation of a man who is only capable of handling 70k naira and haven't seen a bulk sum of 700k naira before in his account now happens to win a jackpot of 100m naira... He will likely waste the entire money until it remains 71k naira before he'll be able to know how he would've invested 1M naira....but guess what, he's left with the amount he can handle...

Egypt never believed they will be able to score a goal against Argentina... And they got a 2goal lead up till 81 minutes... If only Cape Verde were in that position of leading 2 goals up to 80 minutes...

Morocco can never squander such opportunity I wish
Re: What's Really The Problem Of African Football? by Bahamas95(m): 8:52pm On Jul 07
I believe it's psychological problem.

Majority of the players in the French national team are blacks, they don't play like other African players because their mentality is different.

No difference when Nigeria dey play micky mouse country like Cyprus, as far say na oyibo e go look as if na Spain we dey play.
Re: What's Really The Problem Of African Football? by Reference(m): 8:52pm On Jul 07
Because they don't grow into the game.
They start like a house on fire and then tire out in the run in.

Sound tactics require tons of mental stamina and most African teams bar Morocco just don't have it.

I saw an Egypt play a strange game in the first 30 minutes and I did question if they would be able to maintain that tempo for 90 minutes.

The truth is that if you change the way you play because of a certain opponent, if you discard your natural game, your natural instincts will certainly not follow you all the way.
